Overview
This beautiful villa near Grasse is set on a hillside in a quiet neighbourhood within walking distance to a bakery and restaurants. After chilling out by the gorgeous swimming pool, dine al-fresco on the terrace and admire the most stunning panoramic views towards the Bay of Cannes.
Vue De La Baie welcomes up to 11 guests for a summer holiday in the French Riviera hills, the perfect base for exploring a wealth of characterful towns and pretty villages. This detached villa has also been designed for relaxing days at home whether cooling off in the swimming pool, playing table tennis in the games room, watching DVDs in the TV lounge or enjoying atmospheric games of pétanque on warm summer evenings.
Then there’s the main terrace facing those remarkable vistas, perfect for al-fresco feasts with family and friends as you look out towards the vast landscapes and ever-changing sky. You may prefer the calmness of the rear terrace for your morning coffee or head towards the swimming pool, set in a separate area, with its sun loungers, outdoor lounge and fridge to keep your drinks chilled.
Vue De La Baie’s six bedrooms are spread across all three floors. The air-conditioned master en suite bedroom enjoys the same incredible outlook from its terrace whilst there are three more air-conditioned bedrooms and two shower rooms upstairs. A pretty single bedroom and a double bedroom, both with en suite shower rooms, complete the flexible sleeping arrangements.
It’s great to be able to walk down the hill towards a couple of bakeries, shops, restaurants and an Irish bar around 20 minutes away (as long as you don’t mind the steep stroll back up to the villa). In the other direction, drive to Grasse with its perfume studios and museums, delightful markets and charming old quarter, home to the Notre Dame du Puy Cathedral and Rubens paintings.
Further afield, visit picture-perfect villages and towns from Opio, Cabris and Valbonne to the artistic gems of Vence, St Paul de Vence and Mougins. Region
Fall in love with Grasse and its surrounding villages as you experience the Côte d’Azur hinterland staying in one of our handpicked villa rentals in and around Grasse. Pass lavender, jasmine, roses and flower farms as you drive into the hills of the Provence-Alpes-Maritime – no wonder Grasse is known as the ‘perfume capital of France’.
As well as the Museé International de la Parfumerie, visit the perfume houses of Galimard, Molinard and Fragonard for guided tours and even perfume-making workshops. Elsewhere, explore the historic winding lanes and come across artisan shops, café terraces and the impressive Rubens frescoes inside Cathédrale Notre-Dame du Puy de Grasse. There’s a lovely daily flower market at Place aux Aires whilst Place aux Herbes hosts the larger twice-weekly market on a Wednesday and Saturday morning.
A short drive from Grasse, encounter a wealth of picture-perfect villages and beautiful landscapes for walking, hiking, horse-riding and cycling. The perched village of Cabris is especially bucolic with incredible vistas over the Tanneron forest and Lac de Saint-Cassien. There are more glorious views from the small village of Spéracèdes with its pastel-coloured houses and olive trees.
Discover century-old hiking trails through the Siagne valley as well as pretty villages, ancient bridges and idyllic swimming spots. Visit the illuminated caves of stalagmites and stalactites just outside Saint-Cézaire-sur-Siagne before pottering around the authentic village admiring its fountains, café terraces and inviting food shops showcasing goats cheese, honey, olive oil and other products of the region.
South of Grasse, drive to the charming hilltop village of Opio, also famed for its olive oil, and don’t miss the Friday morning market in Valbonne, a very charming town dating back to the 16th century, home to a wonderful town square with pavement cafes and restaurants.
Golf lovers have a great choice of courses in the region including Golf du Claux Amic, once a 17th century hunting estate with stunning views and Golf Grande Bastide just south of Opio as well as prestigious courses close to Mougins and Cannes. As well as endless hiking trails across Grasse’s surroundings, other activities include a range of land and water-based activities in and around Lac de Saint-Cassien, only 15km from Grasse, as well as tree-top adventures and zip-lines with French Riviera views at Riviera Nature just north of the town.
Kids
Best Suited For: All AgesPlay relaxed games of pétanque on summer evenings on the beautifully lit boules court or head inside for movies in the TV lounge and table tennis in the games room. Please note that Vue De La Baie is better suited to older children who can safely manage the steps and terraced levels (with some exposed steep drops).
There’s tennis courts a short drive away and a go-karting track north of the villa with options for older children/teens (check height/age restrictions). Meanwhile, Accrobranche Riviera Nature Grasse offers tree-top trails for various ages as well as zip lines whilst Le Bois des Lutins and Le Village des Fous are two amusement parks near Villeneuve-Loubet, less than half an hour by car.

Owner Profile
How long have you owned the property?
January 2023.
What was it about the property that you first fell in love with?
The view. It is sublime and constantly changing. Many happy hours have been spent gazing at the view since we bought the house. It is a very spacious relaxing place to spend time and we love it.
Are there any interesting stories in its history?
Not really – though there are four houses with the same address as a quirk of the French system. We are used to sending each other’s deliveries to the right house!
For anyone coming to stay is there anything in the surrounding area they really...
Must do...
Grasse is the global centre of the perfume industry so have a go at making your own perfume at one of the big three houses: Fragonard, Molinard and Gallimard. They’re all slightly different and Molinard is our favourite. Best to book in advance as they do get fully booked in high season.
Must eat ...
Deep fried courgette flowers from a market stall. Valbonne market is every Friday morning and the biggest in the area.
Must see...
Apart from the view from the villa, it’s hard to be specific as there is so much to see in the area. There are many idyllic provencal towns and villages nearby - Mougins vieux village, St Paul de Vence and Valbonne are the most memorable and all very different. There are also lovely beaches in Antibes, Theoule and Cannes (but book in advance in high season) and great walks in Villefranche and Cap Ferrat, not to mention museums, shopping and many fabulous restaurants.
What insider tip would you pass on about the property or the area?
Whilst there is plenty to see and do in the area, it’s a house for relaxing in: so stock up the fridge and spend a day by the pool enjoying the view and an evening watching the sunset and the ever changing skyline.

Amazing panoramic views of the Bay of Cannes
Vue De La Baie is a beautiful villa close to the village of Magagnosc. It has a lovely outdoor dining area which has amazing panoramic views of the Bay of Cannes, perfect for alfresco dining and enjoying the local wines. The house combines both elegance and comfort with a fabulous swimming pool. The pool has loungers for basking in the sun and has a seating area and outside bar ideal for pre-dinner sunset drinks. The house is close to Grasse and is in a superb location for exploring the delights of Provence, with easy access to the coast but also provides an escape from it all.

Very peaceful
This house is in a lovely location; very peaceful but within easy access of a variety of places to visit - Nice, St Paul de Vence, Vence, Grasse and everything to offer along the French Riviera. The house is large and comfortable with space for families or groups of friends to spread out. There is ample outside space to enjoy - around the pool, behind the house to have shade and beside the kitchen for a morning cup of coffee. The view from the pool is stunning allowing one to see a huge distance along the coast.
