Overview
Enjoying a magical blend of traditional Provencal styling and superb modern comforts, Maison Beaujolais is perfect for families or a group of friends wanting to enjoy the stunning scenery, beautiful hiking paths, alluring villages and sun-blessed sandy beaches of the Saint Tropez peninsula. This fabulous, newly renovated and refurbished villa sits in the lush verdant hills just above the gorgeous seaside area of Gigaro. It offers three beautiful bedrooms and a spacious, characterful living space, not to mention stunning landscaped gardens and a dreamy infinity swimming pool.
With fine golden sand, dramatic headlands and picturesque coves that take your breath away, Gigaro is a wonderful destination covering more than three hundred protected hectares of flora and fauna and home to one hundred and twenty species of migratory birds. It has been used in many films and marks the entrance of the Cap Lardier Estate, protected by the Port Cros National Park. The scenic coastal path leads from cove to cove and boasts stunning views of the Iles d’Or and magnificent sunsets. The picturesque hilltop villages of La Croix Valmer and Gassin are nearby, and the buzzy, lively hot spot of Saint Tropez is roughly fifteen to twenty minutes away in the car.
Maison Beaujolais is a joyful, characterful retreat that enjoys sublime countryside views and total seclusion. Its warm terracotta exterior blends beautifully with its exposed stonework and the lush greenery surrounding the villa. Maison Beaujolais is built over two floors, with the upper floor being home to wonderfully characterful living spaces and the ground floor home to the bedrooms. The entrance of the property is to the upper floor. Here you will find a gorgeous open-plan living space brimming with ancient ceiling beams and a brilliant mix of vintage and contemporary furnishings. Several sets of French doors open to a huge covered veranda where you will enjoy sensational countryside views. The veranda wraps around the front and the side of Maison Beaujolais, offering stunning alfresco dining and lounge areas. The living area is bright and airy, drowned in natural light streaming through the doors and windows. The kitchen is thoroughly modern with shaker-style cabinetry, granite worksurfaces and outstanding appliances. A gorgeous vintage dining table and chairs sit next to the kitchen, with doors leading to the alfresco dining space with a barbecue
Maison Beaujolais’ three bedrooms are located on the lower floor. Each of the bedrooms enjoys a comfy kingsize bed, air conditioning, an ensuite shower room and French doors opening to the garden and pool area. It is so lovely to wake up in this beautiful spot, draw the curtains back to expose these sensational views and head out with a morning cup of coffee.
Maison Beaujolais boasts a stunning infinity swimming pool, surrounded by a sun deck on three sides where you can relax in the sun with your holiday books, enjoying the spectacular, captivating scenery. The acre of gardens is beautifully maintained with lush lawns and colourful shrubs and flowers. Cypress, palms and pine trees stand majestically, framing the views and ensuring complete privacy. Though you will probably feel like staying put in this heavenly retreat, you can walk to the shops, an excellent bakery, restaurants and the beach in roughly fifteen minutes. The villa is located adjacent to the national park with its wonderful walking, hiking and cycling trails and magnificent views all the way to the Pampelonne.

Location
About the surrounding area of Maison BeaujolaisMaison Beaujolais enjoys a fabulous, elevated location fifteen minutes' walk above the lovely seaside resort of Gigaro. Gigaro is beautiful, natural and home to cicadas in the thousands, as well as a blissful collection of coves, headlands and bays. It enjoys crystal clear waters, fine golden sand and a wonderful collection of restaurants and bars. Gigaro is particularly wonderful at sunset and offers superb views of the islands, Iles d’Or.
Saint Tropez came to fame in the 1950s with Brigitte Bardot starring in the 1956 'And God Created Woman'. Overnight, Saint Tropez became a sizzling jet-set playground. In low season, the town still enjoys its mesmerising quaint beauty, and visitors meander its cobbled lanes in the old fishing quarter of La Ponche, sip pastis in charming cafes, watch old men playing petanque beneath plane trees and walk slowly along the coastal paths. The picturesque peninsula boasts beautiful olive groves and rugged coastal hikes and is now home to exclusive beach clubs, hipster bars and megabucks yachts. A five-kilometre stretch of picture postcard sand sits between the glistening Mediterranean Sea and dreamy dunes.
Saint Tropez is a shopper's paradise, packed with trendy boutiques. The streets around Rue Gambetta and Rue Allard are sprinkled with shoe shops, chocolate shops, boutiques, antique emporiums and art galleries. If you visit on a Tuesday or Saturday morning, you will be treated to wonderful open-air stalls at Place des Lices where you can stock up on freshly baked bread and delicious local produce. Fine wine is big in Saint Tropez. Chateau Barbeyrolles is one of the best vineyards in the village of Gassin. Red and white wines have been added to their delicious rose wines, and visitors can taste and buy wines every day except Sundays.
The peninsula is home to numerous charming villages as well as a fantastic national park that you should explore. La Croix Valmer, in the heart of the Saint Tropez peninsula, is a jewel of nature nestled in the national park, an area known for its walking, cycling and mountain bike paths, its scenic landscapes, amazing fauna and flora, breathtaking views, lively Sunday market and its surrounding vineyards. La Croix Valmer boasts two of the three caps of the Saint Tropez peninsula. Cap Lardier is the most wooded of the caps, and Cap Taillat sits between Cap Lardier and Cap Camarat, the third of the caps. The village of La Croix Valmer also enjoys a history closely linked to the wine industry. Its weekly market is one of the most famous in the Gulf of Saint Tropez and a brilliant place to pick up local produce and wine for Maison Beaujolais.
The picturesque villages of Gassin and Ramatuelle are also wonderful, with far-reaching sensational views. The historic village of Gassin, known as a 'Plus Beaux Villages de France' and a destination of culture and walking, is perched high in the hills enjoying a fabulous medieval terrace, the Promenade De Barri, which offers exceptional views as well as some wonderful restaurants, an unbeatable spot for lunch. You should look out for the street called l'Androuno, which claims to be the narrowest street in the world. The new town of Gassin, designed by Francois Spoerry, has been built below the medieval village and was awarded a prize for the best new town in Europe. The lovely Port Grimaud is reminiscent of Venice.

Region
Once a traditional fishing village, Saint-Tropez is now one of the most glamourous destinations of the Côte d’Azur and welcomes visitors from across the world.
However, there’s more to Saint-Tropez bay than exclusive beach clubs, glitzy boutiques and fine dining restaurants. From the family-friendly beaches of Sainte-Maxime to the vineyards of La Croix Valmer, Oliver’s Travels guests can truly admire this enchanting corner of the French Riviera whilst staying in one of our handpicked villas in and around Saint-Tropez.
Soak up the luxurious yet laidback vibe of Saint-Tropez as you wander around its marina lined with huge yachts contrasting colourful fishermen’s houses overlooking the bay. The old quarter is a warren of winding lanes with French designer boutiques, picturesque cafes and restaurants whilst Place des Lices hosts a vibrant Provençal market on a Tuesday and Saturday morning. Enjoy the most glorious vistas from Saint-Tropez’s 17th century citadel and maritime museum. Boat trips are another superb way to tour this part of the coast and passenger ferries cross the bay.
Just south of the town, follow Brigitte Bardot’s footsteps as you visit one of Plage de Pampelonne’s exclusive beach clubs, the most famous being Le Club 55 (always book well in advance). Stretching over 5km, Pampelonne’s long sandy beach is also loved for its vast range of summer watersports including jet-skiing, windsurfing and paddleboarding.
The picture-perfect villages of Saint-Tropez bay are beautifully located to make the most of the French Riviera scenery. On the hillside overlooking Plage de Pampelonne, Ramatuelle has attracted artists and writers over the years and is full of charm – look out for performances during its theatre and jazz festivals in the summer months. Meanwhile, hilltop Gassin is classified as one of France’s 'Plus Beaux Villages’ whilst flower-filled Grimaud is such a pretty medieval village with yet more stunning views of the coast.
Driving into the Maures hills, discover the characterful villages of La Garde-Freinet and Le Plan-de-la-Tour surrounded by oak and chestnut forests, a paradise for hikers, mountain bikers, horse-riding enthusiasts and other outdoor adventurists.
Back to the coast, take a boat tour of Port Grimaud, known as the ‘little Venice of the Côte d’Azur’, and experience its atmospheric Monday evening summer market. Across the other side of the bay, Sainte-Maxime is a lovely sheltered seaside town with pretty cafes, a daily market and gorgeous beaches. Families adore this area – there are tree-top adventures, tennis, mini-golf, a water park and coastal paths for biking and hiking.
Golf-lovers can appreciate a choice of courses – Golf Blue Green as well as the prestigious Beauvallon Golf Club and Golf Club Saint-Tropez. Wine connoisseurs should head to the wine châteaux of Saint-Tropez and Pampelonne as well as the vineyards of La Croix Valmer.
Not forgetting the idyllic shores of soft sand and crystal-clear sea of La Croix Valmer’s coastline from Plage de Sylvabelle to Plage de Gigaro, also home to a wonderful coastal walking trail with the most incredible flora and fauna alongside sensational views of the Mediterranean as you hike towards Cap Lardier and beyond.
Kids
Best Suited For: All AgesMaison Beaujolais is a fabulous choice for a family holiday. It enjoys three bedrooms, a very generous open-plan living space and a wonderfully lush garden with an infinity swimming pool. With the national park on the doorstep, the area is fantastic for hiking, cycling and looking out for wildlife. It is also possible to explore these incredible landscapes on horseback with the riding centre near Grimaud.
Children love their holiday beach days, and there are plenty of wonderful sandy beaches within very easy reach, the nearest of which is Gigaro. Gigaro and Debarquement beaches are organised and enjoy cafes and restaurants, while others are quiet and peaceful. There are some excellent watersports on offer. The coastal paths are superb, offering exceptional panoramic views and a way of getting to pretty coves that you might not otherwise see. A little further away, the Pampelonne beaches are also amazing.
A popular family excursion is to take the ferry to the island of Porquerolles. It is only a ten-minute boat ride away from the coast. This crescent-shaped island enjoys a charming village at its centre with some lovely restaurants and bike rentals. The best way to explore Porquerolles is by hiking or cycling on the marked trails of the national park. On the southern side, the coast is made up of steep cliffs and secluded creeks, while the northern side is a little like a Caribbean island with fine sandy beaches and turquoise water.
Azur Park in Gassin boasts more than thirty-five thrilling rides and attractions. These include trampolines, carousels, toboggans and many others for little ones, bumper boats, river slides, 5D cinema and plenty of others for slightly older kids and some extreme attractions for teens and older. There are two prehistoric animal-themed 18-hole mini golf courses for four to twelve-year-olds and a great cafe. Aqualand Sainte-Maxime is a thrilling waterpark offering thrilling slides, rides and fun pools for the whole family. Children love the tube slides and open-top slides wide enough for groups to race down. It is located on the other side of the Gulf from Saint Tropez. A few miles north of Saint Tropez is Luna Park Frejus, a seasonal funfair with an array of rides and attractions for kids and adults. You will discover traditional carousels, rollercoasters, bumper cars and a ghost train. Make sure to double-check before you visit, as a lot of water parks are closed during the colder months.
The acrobatic adventure park in Grimaud, Grimaud Aventure, gets the adrenaline pumping amongst the treetops and fun obstacles. There are climbing ladders, jumps, rope bridges and a zipline, all perfect for children aged three to ten.
In Saint Tropez, children enjoy visiting the Citadel above the harbour. It is enormous and boasts fabulous views all around the bay. Proud of its rich maritime past, Saint Tropez created a modern maritime museum in the dungeon of the town's citadel, allowing visitors to discover the daily lives of men and women who shaped the Saint Tropez of today. The town also boasts a butterfly museum, La Maison des Papillons Musee Dany Lartigue with more than 35,000 butterflies from all over the world. There are rare species from South America and Africa. The museum is just a few steps south of the northern marina.
