A literal stone’s throw from the Mediterranean, this characterful French Riviera home enjoys the most magnificent sea views from its swimming pool and terrace. This almost sea-front abode has direct access to this region’s famous coastal walking path, Le Sentier du Littoral, and cove below.
Once the home of a highly-regarded Rugby coach and former player, guests can expect an abundance of French charm and authenticity alongside contemporary touches. The interiors have been simply yet thoughtfully furnished with four pretty bedrooms (two with air-conditioning) and three bathrooms in the main house alongside two separate studio-style bedrooms sat around a pretty terrace, allowing Villa De La Baie to sleep up to 12 guests.
Sit back in the attractive lounge and open the French windows out to the stone terrace overlooking the sea. Prepare your breakfast in the modern and spacious kitchen-diner and enjoy it in peace in the summer room or beneath the shade of the fig tree. The wisteria-clad dining terrace is an idyllic spot for leisurely al-fresco meals with views of the bay. Not forgetting the long swimming pool with its decked terracing, sun loungers and yet more beautiful scenery.
The Mediterranean garden is filled with citrus, olive and fig trees whilst pines lean over the terraces towards the sea, such a typical sight along this coastline. A little gate allows direct access to the much-loved coastal walking path and a rocky cove below for swimming in the sea.
You can walk just 400m to a popular summer restaurant right by the sea serving catch of the day for lunch. In this tiny former fishing village you will also find a pretty beach for snorkelling.
It is lovely being just 2.5km from Toulon’s charming Mourillon neighbourhood with its restaurants, daily market, blue-flag beach and summer activities including watersports. Take time to visit the maritime city of Toulon itself and experience a boat tour of the grand harbour, then admire the glorious coastal views from Mont Faron reached via cable car.
In the other direction is the pretty port of Carqueiranne and the windsurfing beaches of the Giens peninsula as well as ferries from La Tour Fondue to the very beautiful Île de Porquerolles.
You could even venture as far as Saint-Tropez and its iconic Plage de Pampelonne, or head west to Cassis with its pretty fishermen cottages, vineyards and Parc national des Calanques hiking trails. Return to your sea-facing terrace for a glass of Cassis white wine as you listen out to the sea lapping over the rocks below you in this idyllic corner of the French Riviera.

Between the sea and the house (with direct access from the grounds) is the much-loved coastal walking trail, Le Sentier du Littoral, and a small rocky cove below via steps (around 30m on foot). In the other direction you can stroll around 400m to a popular seafront restaurant in a tiny former fishing village. Check opening times/dates in advance - in the summer it is usually open daily for lunch as well as Friday/Saturday evenings.
Once Toulon’s fishing neighbourhood, Mourillon is around 2.5km by car (or experienced walkers can follow the coastal hiking trail). Here you will find inviting restaurants, cafes, shops, a daily market (except Mondays) and a blue-flag sandy beach with seasonal watersports and other summer activities. This is an especially lovely place for families with its summer seaside ambience.
Food-lovers should visit the maritime city of Toulon (5km) with its daily morning market, gourmet food hall and great choice of restaurants. The coastal hiking trail eventually leads to Mourillon (2.5km) just outside Toulon or you may prefer the short drive. This city neighbourhood is loved for its blue-flag sandy beach, play areas, water-based activities and summer amusements including mini-golf and basketball courts.
