Location
About the surrounding area of La CamargueLa Camargue is located in one of the most beautiful areas of France: charming, authentic and unspoilt. You also benefit from being very close to a well regarded vineyard where you can have a tour and sample some fine wines.
Saint Gilles, only a 15-minute drive away, is a delightful town where you can visit spectacular abbey, now a UNESCO World Heritage site. It’s the gateway to the Camargue, well known for its natural beauty and wildlife such as pink flamingos and wild white horses. The historic cities of Nîmes (22km) and Arles (30km) are also within striking distance or spend a day in cosmopolitan Montpellier in just under an hour's drive.
A little further by car is the impressive and much visited town of Aigues-Mortes (30km) with its medieval walls and red water lagoons producing superior quality salt.
The surrounding Languedoc countryside is filled with green oaks, micocoulier trees, wild flowers and herbs, fragrant vineyards, rivers and medieval villages. There are a number of charming rural villages to discover across the Languedoc countryside such as Sommières (31km) and Sauve (58km), not to mention the beautiful cities of Nîmes (22km), Arles (30km), Avignon (62km) and Montpellier (57km).
This area is also the gateway to the stunning landscapes and natural beauty of the Camargue, which is just a short drive away. A beautiful combination of land, lagoon and sea with pink flamingos, wild white horses, rice fields and wild countryside and beaches, this natural park covers 900 square kilometres of land. Endless activities can be offered from horse-riding, trekking, quad biking and jeep tours across this diverse and unique area. You can also see the traditional and interesting farms where the Gardiens (cowboys) raise bulls for the bullrings of Languedoc and Spain.
Should you wish to spend a day at the sea the long, sandy beaches of L’Espiguette (45km) are within 45 minutes drive as well as the pretty seaside town and beaches of Sainte-Maries-de-la-Mer (38km). If you go even more off the beaten track you will be able to find some of Languedoc’s most beautiful, wild beaches, many backed by beautiful pine trees and endless sand dunes.
This region is a paradise for outdoor sport lovers: horse-riding, golf, tennis, river/beach swimming, canoeing, trekking and other mountain activities are all available.

Region
Languedoc-Roussillon is one of those areas of France where you can feel like you’re totally cut off from the rest of the country. Commercial tourism has been very slow to capitalise on the region, meaning you can still enjoy a slice of authentic French rural life at its finest. A mixture of landscapes also makes it a great place to visit, with a good stretch of coastline offering a totally different experience to more bucolic interiors. Whatever you’re looking for, our range of villas and chateaux in Languedoc means you can get exactly the kind of holiday you want with accommodation that’s perfectly tailored to you, your friends and your family.
