Overview
Situated in a charming Languedoc village, Le Mas Douillet - literally “The Cosy Farmhouse” – is a picturesque five-bedroom villa that epitomizes the essence of French countryside living. Accommodating up to 10 guests, this enchanting haven in the hills promises an idyllic escape in the ambience of beautiful landscapes.
Upon entering the villa, guests are greeted by a spacious living/dining area tastefully decorated with plus sofas, elegant wooden dining settings and warming fireplace. Adjacent, the fully equipped kitchen beckons culinary enthusiasts with modern appliances and ample counter space to indulge their passion. Whether that’s tossing together a summer salad, preparing a holiday feast for family and friends, or perhaps tending to a touch of baking. This kitchen won’t disappoint. For a local Languedoc specialty, try your hand at Croustade languedocienne, a thinly crusted pie filled with apple slices soaked in Armagnac.
With five well-appointed bedrooms, Le Mas Douillet goes all out on comfort and serenity. The first of these bedrooms is found on the ground floor, and includes a queen-sized bed with en suite. Ascending to the upper floor reveals four further bedrooms, including the master suite with its king-sized bed and en suite. Another bedroom contains a queen-sized bed with en suite, while the last two bedrooms boast two single beds each.
In the villa’s outdoor spaces leisure and relaxation take centre stage. Stepping out onto the larger of the two sun-soaked terraces brings guests into the cool, turquoise embrace of the swimming pool. Here can also be found one of several inviting al fresco dining areas. The sprawling garden, adorned with fragrant flowers and shaded alcoves, invites guests to bask in the peaceful little places speckled with sunlight.
With its delightful infusion of comfort, tradition and elegance, Le Mas Douillet stands as a testament to French charm, and makes for the perfect escape.

About the surrounding area of Le Mas DouilletNestled in the idyllic rural village of Baron, Le Mas Douillet is surrounded by meadows, fields and vineyards.
In the nearby town of Uzès is a protected historical monument, and the easiest port of call for all your necessities, including supermarkets (15-minute drive). The town’s large arcaded central square, medieval stone houses, tree-lined boulevards and stunning views across the countryside make it a must explore. Some of the must-see sights include the, Duke’s Castle, the town’s various towers situated in its walls, and Racine’s Pavillion where the famous writer Racine spent a year in 1819-1820.
North of Baron can be found La Cocalière (45-minute drive), one of the most impressive cave systems in France which houses spectacular rock formations and evidence of prehistoric habitation.
Another must see sight in the area is the Pont du Gard (25-minute drive), a famous Roman aqueduct constructed sometime between 19BC and 50AD as part of a grand effort to carry water 50km across hills and valleys to Nîmes. This amazing monument is as impressive now as it was 2,000 years ago, and it’s also located on a wonderful spot in the river with plenty of beaches for swimming.

Region
Languedoc-Roussillon is one of those areas of France where you can feel like you’re totally cut off from the rest of the country. Commercial tourism has been very slow to capitalise on the region, meaning you can still enjoy a slice of authentic French rural life at its finest. A mixture of landscapes also makes it a great place to visit, with a good stretch of coastline offering a totally different experience to more bucolic interiors. Whatever you’re looking for, our range of villas and chateaux in Languedoc means you can get exactly the kind of holiday you want with accommodation that’s perfectly tailored to you, your friends and your family.
Kids
Best Suited For: All AgesDespite its rural setting, Le Mas Douillet is surprisingly close to a plethora of interesting and fun sights and activities. For a bit of natural wonder to wow the kids, look no further than the stunning cave systems at La Cocalière (45-minute drive). And for a more human-made wow factor, the 2,000 year old Pont du Gard Roman aqueduct is a sight to behold. Thankfully, if the kids aren’t interested in the Romans then the river over which the aqueduct stretches is a great spot for a swim and a picnic.
Another option for family-friendly adventure is La Bouscarasse (6-minute drive), a family-friendly water park with a lazy river, pools, and much more to ensure a full day of family fun.
And of course, no self-respecting child would forgive you if they missed out on the Haribo Candy Museum (25-minute drive) which is celebrating over 100 years of candied fun.
