Overview
Formerly a grand wine-makers house, Villa Vigneronne has been beautifully restored to create a fine family home in this delightful Languedoc village surrounded by vineyards.
The historic façade will immediately impress as you arrive in the village setting. As soon as you walk in you will appreciate the warm and homely ambience of this characterful residence full of traditional features yet thoughtfully styled with modern comfort in mind. Five bedrooms over three floors offer space for family or friends, including a marvellous master bedroom with its original fireplace and doors leading out to a wonderfully sunny terrace.
The spacious living-dining room is a perfect place to gather by the fireplace or watch a game of pool whilst large sliding doors lead straight out to the covered veranda, luscious gardens and dazzling swimming pool. Spend long summery afternoons lazing on the sun-loungers before cooling off in the inviting pool then preparing a barbecue for a leisurely evening feasting on the terrace with loved ones.
It’s only a couple of minutes stroll to the local bakery to pick up croissants and fresh bread for breakfast to be served with freshly brewed coffee on your return and in the evening you can wander out to a local restaurant after a sundowner on the terrace. On a Saturday morning pick up some wonderful local produce at the colourful market in nearby Pézenas (9km) before exploring the historic town with its charming art galleries and antique shops.
You may prefer to head down to the coast to explore the long sandy beaches within half an hour or sample some amazing seafood in nearby Mèze. Golf-lovers note there are some wonderful courses across the Languedoc, including Golf Saint Thomas in under 10km whilst cyclists and hikers can enjoy trails through the idyllic Hérault landscapes of olive groves and vineyards. Indeed, surrounded by wine-making villages, there is a wealth of wineries to discover and some fine local wines to sample.
Those looking for adventure can try watersports along the coast or head further inland to the rugged hills whilst some of France’s most impressive sights can be easily visited in a day including Carcassonne and the Roman aqueduct and Pont du Gard. That said, you may prefer to just switch off and enjoy local village life from your enchanting holiday home.

Region
Languedoc-Roussillon is one of those areas of France where you can feel like you’re totally cut off from the rest of the country. Commercial tourism has been very slow to capitalise on the region, meaning you can still enjoy a slice of authentic French rural life at its finest. A mixture of landscapes also makes it a great place to visit, with a good stretch of coastline offering a totally different experience to more bucolic interiors. Whatever you’re looking for, our range of villas and chateaux in Languedoc means you can get exactly the kind of holiday you want with accommodation that’s perfectly tailored to you, your friends and your family.
Kids
Best Suited For: All AgesKids can enjoy village life wandering down to the local boulangeries for fresh pastries and bread every morning before a day out exploring this family-friendly area.

Head to Béziers (20km) for a wonderful art gallery or hire kayaks along the River Orb and there are further watersports inland with sailing and canoeing, as well as lovely family walks and mountain bike trails at Lac du Salagou (40km).
Lovers of history mustn’t miss out on a day trip to two UNESCO World Heritage sites; Carcassonne (110km) and the Roman aquaduct at Pont du Gard (132km), a perfect spot for a picnic in impressive surroundings.

Owner Profile
How long have you owned the property?
The property is owned by us for the past 5 years. The widow that owned it prior to us stayed at the place for the past 40 odd years, so you can imagine that everything, starting from floors needed to be done and re-done.
What was it about the property that you first fell in love with?
We fell in large with the garden. It was overgrown, but the proportion of the garden to the house and the symmetry of it, just took our hearts away. We have grown children and the place was large for the whole family and their friends.
Are there any interesting stories in its history?
The interesting part in our purchase is that my sister visited the house when we purchased it and while she did not discourage us to buy it, she was not convinced either. Once the renovations were done with, she asked us, several times, to sell her the house.
Have you ever had any famous guests staying?
Only 2 famous men and their family, but we can't name them.
For anyone coming to stay is there anything in the surrounding area they should...
Really do?
Must go to the restaurant Saint Jean de Bebian and try the wine.
Really eat?
Try the fig bread from the bakery in Tourbes. Make it early or there will be nothing left.
Really see?
Must see the Pezenas market on Saturday morning and sit in the café watching the world go by.

A treasure of a house
One of those old houses that you would love to own. We loved it very much. The location was great, parking galore, and the outdoors are made for relaxation. The house was renovated with taste and we slept all night. To me this was important because I am a bad sleeper. Only comment that I would like to make, and this did not bother us too much after the first day, but the living room is a sunken living room and there is one step to go down. It was a bit tricky to get used to this mainly, I suppose because the whole area has the same polished natural stone floor. But after the second day, this was no longer an issue. The reception was discreet, but immediately available if we needed help. Thank you to the hosts and the property manager.

Luxury indeed
The weather was excellent so we were able to take a dip in the pool and enjoy the dun lounges. the house is well provided for every day living and holidays. The service was beyond reproach. it will be nice to go back.

Perfect place for any time of the year
It is a well maintained, well looked after place to stay. Decor is chic and plenty of character and comfort in mind. Plenty of place to relax in and secure parking too. Not a bad note during the whole visit.

A great attention to detail and comfort
Everything was set up to make us feel great. Bedroom on the ground level and a huge terrace off the bedroom on the second floor, that I used on 2 occasions when the weather got warmer. Bathroom, perfect kitchen, dining area, the villa is one of the best in the area. Loved the location too. The parking was private, and we fitted 2 cars easily. The owners agreed to heat the pool for us, even though the season starts mid May, and we arrived just slightly earlier. Hoping to come back.
