What you should know…

  • Guests need to be able to safely manage the steps, some terraced levels and gravel across the garden and pool - young children will need to be supervised.
  • Rest assured that the other buildings you can see in the photos remain unoccupied - they all belong to the owners. The laundry room is in the barn next to the house and there is an abandoned house near the back (not to be explored).

Region

A relatively new addition to France, the Midi-Pyrénées was created to surround the cultural capital of Toulouse in the late 1970s. You might think that its relative youth would mean the Midi-Pyrénées is short on character or identity, but remember, this is France we’re talking about – the whole country is steeped in history and tradition. Encompassing parts of Gascony, Languedoc, the Gers and several others, you’ll get a varied slice of the whole French experience here, not least if you stay at one of our beautiful chateaux in the Midi-Pyrénées! And if you want to discover the best of what the region has to offer, our Midi-Pyrénées travel guide is here to show you where to go, what to eat and how you can make the best of your break with some amazing activities.

It’s just over a 5-minute drive to a pretty lake just outside the local village, a lovely place for walks, mountain biking and fitness trails. In the height of the summer a Base de Loisirs (usually open July to late August) allows visitors to enjoy the sandy beach, swim in the lake or partake in water-based activities such as canoeing and pedalo hire. There’s also an area for picnics and volleyball as well as tennis courts.

For older children who enjoy outdoor adventures, hiking and cycling through its picturesque landscapes, especially around the rolling hills and vineyards, are fantastic options. Passing through Mossaic (34km), the Canal des Deux Mers is an especially great option for bike rides whilst there are canoeing opportunities along the Garonne River here (and further afield along the Gorges de l'Aveyron).
