This beautiful château is situated in a green valley within walking distance of an ancient village. A long drive takes you up to the charming, fully restored manor house that can sleep up to 14 or 20 guests. Just half an hour from Cherbourg, this is a wonderful destination for a weekend break with family and friends or a longer stay in the summer.
The château sits among beautiful gardens with plenty of garden furniture and a purpose built BBQ area. The tranquil setting of the château includes a small stream running through the grounds, two ponds and a wood to explore.
For those who want to relive past glories, the château offers an evocative slice of France's past. Within the grounds are the ruins of former château buildings, a well dating back to 1753, a dovecote from the 16th Century, the original wine caves (now out of use and used for storage) and the stone windows of a 12th Century chapel that will simply steal your heart!
Normandy is waiting to explored, both the enchanting Cotentin Peninsular and beyond. Experience the lovely markets in nearby Valognes and medieval Bricquebec on a Friday and Monday, enjoy lunch in the charming fishing town of Barfleur or visit the wonderful beaches around Barneville-Carteret. Try some of the cuisine of the region from fresh mussels and oysters to delicious local cheeses and calvados.
Further afield, visit the D-Day landing beaches, the historic town of Bayeux and even the spectacular Mont Saint-Michel for an amazing day out in this incredible part of northern France.

Location
About the surrounding area of Chateau NormandAncient villages, châteaux, manors, churches and abbeys can be found within a short distance from Château Normand. Normandy has a rich history and is proud of its cultural heritage from the Romans, Celts, Vikings and Normans. The local village was once the feudal domain of the Bruces, ancestors of Scotland's famous King Robert the Bruce.
Being just a half hour drive from Cherbourg port also makes it ideal for short breaks for guests arriving by ferry with departures from Portsmouth, Poole, the Channel Islands and Ireland.
The château is close to beautiful sandy beaches (20 minutes), a wide choice of restaurants (10-15 minutes), a children’s animal park (15 minutes), the traditional French markets with fresh local produce (10 minutes), La Maison du Biscuit and a hypermarket/shopping area (10 minutes).
Amazing places to visit across this region include Mont St. Michel (1.5 hour), the D-Day landing beaches (30 minutes), the Bayeux Tapestry (1 hour) and Sea Life Cherbourg (15 minutes). Calvados from the local farmer and wine tasting can be provided if you are interested.
There is a restaurant 10km away for simple, good value French food. The local markets on Monday morning in Bricquebec (10km) and Friday morning in Valognes (12km) are also recommended. Within walking distance of the château, in the local village (2km), is a bakery, post office, bar, butcher, medical centre and pharmacy.
Tennis and horse riding can be found locally. Golf is 12km away. The area is well suited for walking, hiking and (experienced) biking.

This is really a hidden gem!
So glad to have found this! A lot of French castles are chique and sophisticated, but also a little bit boring... Chateau Normand still has an authentic and robust charm. Rooms that have been decorated with passion and with an arty feel. We really felt at home here. We spent a few days in December with Frans at the castle. It's a unique experience. The children loved the tower stairs (which seemed like you just stepped into medieval times). And we also loved the bar outside (in the ancient dovecote) where the walls are lit with hundreds of candles. The children also loved playing in the huge garden while we drank Calvados by the fireplace. Frans, thanks a million for your hospitality!
And what a beautiful environment! Brix is close to really lovely fishing villages and beautiful beaches. And walking from the Nez du Jobourg/Cap de la Hague was so beautiful, it almost seemed like walking in Ireland! -
Charming Chateau
A lovely place in a charming setting. We were a group of 16 people and had a wonderful time. Francois the owner is very kind and very helpful. The bedrooms are spacious and we all slept well. I recommend to use one bedroom on the ground floor as sitting room

Perfect chateau in stunning countryside
The host, Frank, is one of the most amazing and generous people I have ever met. I am a film Producer/ Director and cinematographer. We asked Frank if we could make our movie at Chateau Normand, and Frank welcomed us with open arms. To be honest without Frank's help and unwavering commitment to our film we would have never finished it, Chateau Normand is an amazing location situated in Normandy France and was so beautiful and perfect for all our filming needs - I can't wait to actually go back for a holiday and relax in the stunning countryside. We could not have asked for a better host or location for our Medieval/Modern day film. Thank you again Frank for everything.

Great stay at Chateau Normand
We had a great stay at Chateau Normand! We rented the whole estate and stayed for a week with our extended family to celebrate a birthday. The estate worked very well with the separate apartments even though we mainly used the main kitchen. The youngsters shared the left wing of the estate and adults the right wing. We had also a lot of fun in the separate bar. During the days, we went for different excursions that you find plenty of just around the corner. And we enjoyed the marvelous fresh seafood. The service we got from our host was also super great and attentive. I warmly recommend staying at Chateau Normand.

Wonderful
A group of 7 of us stayed here as a base to watch the 2 stages of the Tour de France in Normandy. We stayed one night and had a great time. The rooms were very spacious, free wi-fi and the beds were very comfortable.
Arriving at about 10am, we were very early but the host was more than accommodating offering us the pigeoniere to get changed into our cycling gear and a drink if we wanted. We left our bags, and cycled for the day before heading back for evening dinner. The meal was great, and all 3 courses really hit the ticket! The TV was put on in the dinner room for the Euro 2016, and our host constantly checked to ensure that all his guests had everything they needed.
I would highly recommend the Chateau as a base in Normandy. I plan to come here again with my family at some stage. -
Authentic Charm
The Chateau has a wonderful, old world, authentic charm. We traipsed around the grounds and the neighborhood in the morning and just enjoyed the pastoral beauty of the area. It's a great central location for exploring the countryside.
