Whether you are seeking rest or adventure, a stay at Château Pommiers, in the heart of rural Normandy and close to some of its most beautiful sights, is sure to delight every generation.
This charming manor house, formerly a monastery over 200 years ago, has been lovingly restored by its welcoming owner after purchasing it a number of years ago. It was a huge project, using French artisans and maintaining the very highest of standards. Together, they have created a wonderful and relaxing holiday home which retains so much original character alongside great modern comforts.
The traditional living and dining areas create a restful ambience whilst the perfectly equipped kitchen is lovely for family breakfasts as well as cooking up a Norman feast. There is plenty of space upstairs with two double bedrooms with en suite shower rooms alongside two pretty twins that share a bright bathroom. Rooms across this home are filled with light from the manoir’s pretty windows looking out to the gardens and countryside beyond.
Help yourselves to apples from the orchard, make the most of the spacious gardens and on warm summer evenings it’s idyllic to sit outside with a glass of local calvados, chatting with family and friends into the night.
Pop down the road to the local village, just 2.5km away, for pastries, fresh bread, groceries and more or pick up further local delights at markets across nearby towns such as Condé-sur-Noireau and Clécy. Stay on for lunch in Clécy, an incredibly picturesque place often referred to as the capital of this ‘Suisse Normande’ region due to its natural beauty.
In Clécy, hire kayaks, paddle boards or pedalos along the beautiful River Orne, rock-climb or zip-wire by the Rochers des Parcs, paraglide across the mesmerising landscapes or play golf in glorious surroundings. Other idyllic towns to discover include medieval Domfront, Bagnoles-de-l'Orne with its belle-epoque architecture and Falaise, home to William the Conqueror’s castle.
There’s every opportunity to explore Normandy even further with Caen, Bayeux and the D-Day Landing beaches just over an hour by car, or the incredible Mont Saint-Michel within a ninety minute drive.
No matter what time of year you visit, Château Pommiers offers authenticity and comfort in a perfect position for visiting so much of this alluring part of Normandy.

Location
About the surrounding area of Chateau PommiersChâteau Pommiers is a beautiful manor house set in the Calvados department of rural Normandy, close to the Orne valley and the charming town of Clécy, just over an hour drive from the ferry port at Caen-Ouistreham.
There is a little village around 2.5km away, perfect to stop off for morning croissants and there are other amenities here including a restaurant, café-bar, pharmacy and other shops. The nearest supermarket is just 2km away with many others within a 10-minute drive.
This region is filled with such natural beauty with hilly landscapes, rivers and woodland, ideal for both walking, hiking, horse-riding and cycling. Head to Clécy and hire canoes, kayaks, pedal boats and other water-based sports along the River Orne. There are some beautiful fishing spots whilst the more adventurous can try rock-climbing or zip-lining at Rochers des Parcs. The Domaine du Golf de Clécy will appeal to golf-lovers as well. This region is often referred to as the ‘Suisse Normande’ with its idyllic natural surroundings.
Even without all the outdoor adventures on offer, Clécy is an incredibly picturesque place to spend some time, indeed the town has inspired many local artists over the years. Wander along the town’s narrow lanes, stop off for a coffee in a café-bar or enjoy a leisurely lunch in an inviting restaurant.
Domfort is another pretty town with ruins of a medieval castle as well as an attractive old quarter with half-timbered houses and cobbled lanes. Bagnoles-de-l'Orne is also very beautiful with belle-epoque architecture, thermal waters and lakeside strolls.
Eager historians will be keen to visit Falaise, home to William the Conqueror's castle or head north to Caen, one of France’s oldest University cities. Bayeux is another fantastic day out with its UNESCO classified Bayeux Tapestry, magnificent medieval cathedral as well as excellent restaurants and interesting museums across the historic town.
If you would like to visit the D-Day Landing beaches then head further north towards Longues-sur-Mer, Omaha or Arromanches, each around 70-90 minutes by car. Alternatively, the breathtaking Mont Saint-Michel is 92km away.

Great property out in the countryside
We rented this property knowing it was remote and beautiful-and it certainly was both! Grocery shopping was only minutes away. The house itself is exactly as pictured and very comfortable. The fireplace worked great and we had a big fire most evenings, beautiful.

A wonderful stay at the Chateau
Our family just came back from a wonderful stay in Normandy at the Chateau Pommiers. After a hectic week in Paris, it was a pure joy to relax in such a beautiful setting. We spent some great family time both indoor and outdoor with our nice neighbours, the cows. The Chateau is very spacious and well stocked, and it is in a great location. It served as our base to explore the D-Day beaches, Mont Saint-Michel, Etretat, Bayeux, and much more. And Sharon has been a pleasure to deal with. So if you're looking for a place to stay in Normandy, look no further and treat yourself to a dream vacation at the Chateau Pommiers.

A Grand House with all amenities
The two double bedrooms were lovely and luxurious, both en-suite with more than ample wardrobe space. The kitchen was well-equipped for a large number of people, we regularly cooked for eight with no problem whatsoever. We ate at the table in the large dining room, which made every meal like a special occasion. In addition, there was a great TV with Freeview which went down well with those wishing to keep up with current events. The surroundings were quiet and rural but a great supermarket about five minutes away. We'd love to go again very soon!

Comfort, cosiness and elegance all wrapped up in one
Our stay at Chateau Bremesnil was exactly what we were hoping for. It possesses the elegance of a French country manor, but also the cosiness of a holiday home with all the luxuries and amenities. The bedrooms were spacious and the beds extremely comfortable. And being out in the country, there was no noise (beyond the occasional hawk or barking fox) to interrupt our long sleep-ins. The kitchen was very well equipped and large enough so that we often cooked together, then enjoyed our meals either in the dining room on rainy days, or under the evening sky when the weather was balmy. The grounds were perfect for playing croquet, badminton, Kubb and frisbee, adjacent to pastures of grazing cows. All in all, Chateau Pommiers was the perfect location to spend two and a half weeks in Normandy. We had a wonderful time that allowed us to relax and spend quality time as a family. A big thank you to Sharon Buckley and Miguel who helped us with an electrical and plumbing problem at a minute's notice!

Stunning chateau in peaceful surroundings
Great directions to find the property, description was accurate and it was perfect for 2 families to share. The property had lots of French character with modern appliances for comfortable living. We did all our own cooking and were pleased with the facilities. The weather was beautiful so we enjoyed the garden and bbq. Ideally situated for visiting Normandy beaches and other historic places. Beds were very comfy and all made up for our arrival. Communication with Sharon prior to visit was great. quick response to all our questions. We would definitely return.

Get Away from it All
A Stylish Property that is spacious, homely & comfortable. Recommended by two happy guests who would have no hesitation in promoting others to visit Sharon’s Chateau in lovely Normandy. Hoping to return soon.

A great place for a group holiday
We were a group of five friends touring around the area in our vintage cars. The chateau was everything we could have hoped for and the good weather really made the holiday. The owner was extremely helpful and was excellent at communicating with us. She even took the trouble to return some clothing that one of the party left at the property. The chateau provided good space both inside and outside and had all the facilities we required.

A wonderful week in this wonderful place!
Before we arrived at this rental, I looked quite a few times at the pictures of the exterior and interior online. It is even more spectacular in person! We were three retired couples sharing this chateau, and we had more than enough privacy. The bathrooms are modern and two bedrooms had their own ensuite bathrooms. We loved the area, too. It was quiet, yet close to a lovely town where we bought chocolate croissants every morning for breakfast! We visited Mont St. Michel, the Normandy beaches, Bayeux, nearby markets, and ate in great restaurants. We prepared dinners in the well equipped kitchen and ate in the large and lovely dining room. I cannot say enough about what a great time we had staying at this chateau. It was also a delight corresponding with its owner, Sharon Buckley.

A Most Delightful Stay at Chateau Pommiers
It all seemed too good to be true. Until the key we had been sent opened the door and we walked in to find the house every bit as spacious and attractive as it appeared on the website, was I certain we had not made an error in booking. The rooms were indeed all very large, bright and very comfortable. The house was definitely as good as advertised - and larger and brighter than expected. The 2 large master bedrooms were complete with a modern en suite bathroom, one even had a dressing room. Both had comfortable king beds. The 2 other bedrooms had 2 twin beds and there is a very large bright shared family bathroom. We found the large kitchen very well equipped, the dishes pleasing and plentiful - kitchen amenities includes a gas stove, a dishwasher, a large table for family breakfast. In addition, there is an enormous dining room for relaxed evening meals. If preferred, there is also an outdoor table and chairs for 8. With darkness falling at 10 during our stay, we enjoyed sitting here a few evenings reliving the events of our day with a glass of wine or cider. We were a family of six - 3 generations - grandparents, parents and 2 girls - 12 and 15. The 12 year old actually celebrated her birthday there. In this spacious house we all felt we had the freedom to be alone or with family - to wander out of doors, or just sit in one of the comfortable chairs in the sitting room. Set on a large property in a beautiful rural area, the house is only minutes from several lovely historic villages with access to supermarkets, butchers, bakeries, pharmacies, dining, gas, etc. There is so much to explore and enjoy! During our stay of a week, we used the chateau as a base to explore much of Normandy and a small bit of Brittany. Our explorations included - the D-Day Beaches (including the towns, museums and cemeteries). We visited Bayeux, Caen, Rouen, Honfleur, Mont St. Michel, St.Malo, etc. To visit Normandy had been the motivation for our visit, and to be located within a reasonable drive of places we hoped to visit had been an important consideration. Sometimes the drives were a couple of hours, but we did several things each time. The bonus, we got to know and enjoy Normandy. We loved the house and the region and hope we will return another time to Normandy, to stay again, of course, at Chateau Pommiers. Thank you Sharon for sharing your lovely Normandy home with us.

Yes you really do get all of it!
Our first thoughts when thinking of booking this property was as to which bit of the building was rented out.but what you see in the picture is indeed what you get. The house is enormous and yet still manages to maintain a homely feel. The owner has obviously renovated the property with lots of love and our family enjoyed every minute of our stay. The two en suite rooms are beautiful, the lounge very cosy with a wonderful fireplace and the kitchen very well equipped. Outside the gardens offer lots of interest with some lovely views accross the valley. (Unfortunately we didn't get a chance to try out the bbq. Vassy is a couple of miles away with all the necessary amenities and an excellent boulangerie if you like fresh croissants for breakfast and the Carrefour supermarket on the edge of town is less than a 5 minute drive away. Local attractions to visit are the nearby village of Clecy where kayaking is available and the beautiful medieval hilltop town of Domfront. Mont St Michel and the Normandy beaches are about a 90 minute drive away. The Restaurant des Amis in Moncy, about 3 miles away, is very welcoming and excellent value but you do need to book particularly on a Sunday for lunch. All in all Chateau Pommiers is a great place to holiday and will not disappoint!
