So close to many of the Luberon’s iconic perched villages, Villa Grand Bonnieux is an archetypal Provençal mas that has been exquisitely renovated to welcome up to 10 guests (and four additional children) across its stylish air-conditioned suites and bedrooms. Gather on the garden terrace overlooking the beautiful heated swimming pool and lavender field.
Villa Grand Bonnieux’s three-hectare estate is simply idyllic. Not only are there swathes of lavender usually from June to late July, but also cypress trees, gorgeous terraces and the most wonderful views. The heated swimming pool stands proudly between the house and vast lavender field whilst there is a shaded terrace and barbecue for al-fresco dining in glorious surroundings. The boules court adds to the Provençal ambience and there is table tennis for all ages to enjoy.
This luxurious and spacious Provençal abode is home to five individual suites or bedrooms scattered across the estate. The main living space features a fireplace, bar and arched doors leading to the garden terrace and there is a good-sized dining table for indoor feasts. The first suite is absolutely stunning with its own lounge, fully-equipped kitchen and curved stone stairs leading up to an impressive en suite bedroom with a terrace overlooking Bonnieux and Lacoste.
Elsewhere, there are two attractive courtyard bedrooms, both en suite, and two further suites, one with a private terrace with sunset views and another gorgeous suite overlooking Goult and Mont Ventoux, also benefitting from its own lounge and kitchen. Across the accommodation guests can expect beautiful design and magnificent grounds – this really is a special holiday home.
Arrange for fresh pastries to be delivered each morning to enjoy on the terrace before venturing to one of the many perched villages of the region – Lacoste and Bonnieux are both a short drive away whilst Roussillon, Gordes and Ménerbes are just a little further. Another picturesque village is Goult, slightly off the usual tourist trail but just as charming with its medieval lanes, café terraces and pretty little shops.
Cyclists will love being so near La Véloroute du Calavon, a popular voie-verte that follows a former railway line near the Calavon River passing lovely Luberon scenery – the Roman bridge, Pont Julien, is just over 5-minutes by bike. Meanwhile, make the most of the wonderful walking trails whether admiring the ochre landscapes near Roussillon and Rustrel or seeking shade in the cedar forest south of Bonnieux.
As you explore the Luberon come across excellent restaurants, delightful weekly markets, vineyards and wineries. You are also well placed for reaching L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue for antique shopping and Fontaine-de-Vaucluse for hiking, canoeing and kayaking. Meanwhile, Avignon and Aix-en-Provence are both amazing day trips for experiencing the rich history and captivating charm of Provence.
What you should know…
- This beautiful villa sleeps up to 10 adults across five en suite bedrooms/suites. An additional four children (10 years or younger) can be added to your booking, on request, as two of the suites feature a sofa-bed.
- Indeed, please see the ‘Property Layout’ for details of the layout of each bedroom as they are all located in different parts of the house, some with independent entrances.
- The bathrooms are stunning – do note that some are open-plan to the bedrooms.
- Air-conditioning is featured in the bedrooms only, not the living/dining spaces. Thick stone walls help to regulate the temperatures in summer and winter.
- Please note that necessary garden work may be ongoing during your stay.

About the surrounding area of Villa Grand BonnieuxClose to the idyllic villages of Bonnieux and Lacoste, Villa Grand Bonnieux is in the very heart of the Luberon so wonderfully located for experiencing the beauty of this charming part of Provence.
How wonderful to have your very own lavender field – it usually blooms from early June to late July. What’s more, the villa is very well located for joining the lovely cycling trail, La Véloroute du Calavon – in just over 5 minutes by bike you can reach the Roman stone bridge, Pont Julien.
Less than a 10-minute drive south, Bonnieux (4.6km) is classified as one of France’s ‘Plus Beaux Villages’ with good reason – spend time wandering around its medieval lanes as you admire historic houses, the 12th century village church and incredible vistas of lavender fields, orchards and vines. There are several restaurants here, some with idyllic terraces overlooking the Luberon scenery, as well as little shops and a bustling Friday morning market.
Nearby Lacoste (4.5km) is another beautifully preserved perched village, home to a handy grocery store and a traditional café-bar with glorious views from its terrace. Look out for the ruins of Château du Marquis de Sade at the very top of the village and embrace the Luberon landscapes around you. The village market takes place on a Tuesday morning.
Goult (4.6km) is also not to be missed, slightly off the usual tourist trail yet the village exudes so much Provençal charm with its old houses, café terraces, lovely shops and weekly market on a Thursday morning. Continue on towards Coustellet (13km) for more foodie shops and a Sunday morning Farmer’s market as well as the Musée de la Lavande.
The handsome and historic town of Apt (11.5km) hosts the Luberon’s largest market on a Saturday morning whilst Saignon (15km) and Saint-Saturnin-lès-Apt (17km) are two other picture-perfect villages worth considering. Even closer is Roussillon (7.5km), famed for its red-hued ochre landscapes, whilst famous Ménerbes (12km), Gordes (13km) and Lourmarin (17km) are also easily reached – all four are classified as ‘Plus Beaux Villages’.
Discover glorious walking and hiking trails across the Luberon from the shady cedar forest just south of Bonnieux to the ochre routes around the Le Colorado de Rustrel and beyond. A little further afield, Fontaine-de-Vaucluse (23km) is loved for its hiking and kayaking/canoeing opportunities whilst the less adventurous may prefer the antique stores and pretty riverside restaurants of L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue (23km). The much-loved Golf de Saumane is also less than half an hour by car or venture east to be captivated by the stunning surroundings of Golf Du Luberon (48km).

Region
With some of the most enchanting landscapes of Provence, the Luberon awaits with its idyllic perched villages, swathes of lavender, cherry trees, vineyards and dense forest.
Become captivated by the scenery as you potter around artistic Gordes with its atmospheric Tuesday morning market before heading to hilltop Ménerbes, the village that inspired Peter Mayle’s ‘A Year in Provence’. Romantic Bonnieux enjoys the most glorious vistas, surrounded by a sea of vines and orchards, whilst red-hued Roussillon will take your breath away with its ochre landscapes and pine forests. They are all officially classified as ‘Plus Beaux Villages’ in France.
Yet there are so many hidden gems to explore as well. Discover the historic doorways, windmills and summer cherries of Saint-Saturnin-lès-Apt, then head to Goult to embrace its Provençal charm with little shops and pavement cafes. Surrounded by fields of lavender, Saint-Saturnin-lès-Apt is another historic jewel of the Luberon, often overshadowed by the handsome and historic town of Apt.
To the south of the Luberon, follow Albert Camus’ footsteps in Lourmarin, sip coffee by the picturesque bassin lined with plane trees in Cucuron and soak up the history of Ansouis – all three villages have a fine reputation for their high-end dining with a choice of Michelin starred restaurants.
Indeed, across the region look out for restaurant terraces serving Provençal cuisine with superb vistas alongside characterful markets showcasing seasonal delights from the Luberon and beyond (olives, melons, strawberries, cherries, truffles, chestnuts, lavender products and more). Most villages host a lovely weekly market whilst the largest in the Luberon is held on a Saturday morning in Apt. Just on the edge of the Luberon, L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue is famed for its antique stores and Sunday morning brocante. Meanwhile, wine lovers should visit the vineyards and wineries of the region producing Luberon and Ventoux AOC wines.
The walking, hiking and cycling opportunities in the Luberon seem endless and you will also find horse-riding, rock-climbing and tree-top adventures as well as canoeing and kayaking along the Sorgue near Fontaine-de-Vaucluse. Come across hiking trails for all abilities passing vineyards and forest or venture through the hills and mountain gorges for spectacular scenery. Cycling is also extremely popular – as well as more challenging routes, we especially love the family-friendly Véloroute du Calavon, a paved voie verte following a former railway line near the Calavon river passing poppies, lavender and orchards so typical of the Luberon.

The villa’s location is fantastic for reaching the family-friendly cycling trail, La Véloroute du Calavon, a voie verte that follows a former railway track near the Calavon river. The route is mainly car-free and it passes close to your home, a fantastic way to explore the surrounding area.
The region also offers wonderful hiking and walking opportunities as well as horse-riding and even horse-drawn carriage rides through the Luberon countryside. In the forest south of Bonnieux, discover shady walking trails and picnic spots beneath ancient cedar trees or enjoy the red-hued landscapes as you follow Le Sentier des Ocres by the pretty village of Roussillon, just over a 10-minute drive away.
Experience tree-top adventures at Colorado Aventures near Rustrel or at Passerelles des Cîmes near Lagnes, both less than half an hour away. Also close to Lagnes and Fontaine-de-Vaucluse, canoe or kayak along the Sorgue River in glorious surroundings.
For fun days out, other family attractions include Parc Spirou Provence and Wave Island waterpark near Carpentras/Avignon, Parc Grimmland just south of the Luberon and the popular Zoo Barben, around an hour away by car.

Le temps est passé trop vite.....
Nous avons énormément apprécié notre séjour dans votre villa. Cette maison est particulièrement agréable. L'espace de chaque appartement laisse le libre cours à la liberté et la tranquillité de chacun.

Beautiful!
We had a great time at Villa Bonnieux. It is as beautiful as the photos on the website show, though I must say the scale of the dwellings and the grounds was greater than I had imagined. We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay, so it was a resounding success with everyone. All the rooms/apartments are beautiful, extremely comfortable and very attractively furnished and decorated. It is a boon to have two large eating areas in the main apartment for different times of the day & different weathers. The beds are very comfortable. The shower/bathroom facilities are amazing in all the apartments and i must say I was impressed that the temperature controls over such a large property was very good. The pool is fabulous. For us as a single family it was often the centre of significant parts of each day, it is clean and very well designed. For our children, the space around the buildings was a great boon. It meant they could safely play away from adults if they wished. The variety of relaxing spaces and venues around the place means that adults can relax/read in peace if anyone gets tired of the buzz of such a large and& busy group or just wants a few private moments - even, or especially, families can become too much from time to time! The grounds are well kept but not to the extent that as a guest you would feel uneasy exploring. Villa Grande Bonnieux is everything I had hoped it would be when I booked; the location, the grounds, the decor, the facilities, the integration of the apartments (so that though each of our families had their own space we all felt it was a unitary building). However, we all felt the caretakers are a huge asset. They were very solicitous, checking frequently that we were happy, and they even phoned daily orders through to the patisserie for us. The booking process and communication was very good for us. Thank you for that. We had a fabulous time and it was all we hoped it might be!

A perfect stay
Villa Grand Bonnieux was perfect for us. We just loved it. We had our family from New Zealand and everything was amazing. We spent lots of time in the pool and relaxing which was so good for everyone. We can't speak highly enough of the caretakers. They were so kind and helpful and added another dimension to our superb stay. Thoroughly recommend having breakfast delivered each day! Our holiday at the villa was a dream come true and exceeded our expectations. We have wonderful memories which we will never forget. Thank you for recommending it to us!

Our stay in the house was great, marvellous... such a beautiful, quiet, relaxing, charming house, everything was perfect! What shall I tell you more, maybe a little bit too hot :-) We will surely return next year if possible!

Just fabulous!
It is very difficult to write about this house, very overwhelming! All renovated with a lot of taste, design furniture, very well equipped kitchens, really good beds... a dream... and then the pool area with the lavender just blooming behind, in one word, fantastic! We had a great 2 weeks here in the middle of the Luberon with views from Lacoste to Bonnieux and on the other side towards Gordes, a fabulous holiday!

Great holiday
I was so surprised as the house does not look half as large in the pictures as in reality! Great bedrooms with their own bathrooms and 3 with its own well equipped kitchen. we were with our family and we could be together for dinners etc. but we all had our privacy which we thought was great! With the endless garden and pool area and all the Luberon villages at our feet it was a great experience! And great caretakers too!

Fantastic house
Fantastic house, great design, a mix of old and new, and we had all our ‘own’ home in the house (3 friend couples), and yet we could have dinners etc all together and even could ask twice some friends to stay with us for a few days as we had 2 rooms left...We surely will come back one day!

Magnificent villa, very pleasant, very warm welcome from the caretakers (a little welcome and end-of-stay attention) and very appreciable availability and discretion. Superb garden and magnificent view of Bonnieux, Lacoste and the lavender. Top swimming pool! Decoration of large living rooms, bedrooms and bathrooms was neat and sophisticated.
