The attention to detail at Villa Ocre will astound you from designer furnishings and ultra-modern appliances to inviting bedrooms decorated in warm colours, each one with its own en suite bathroom and wide doors opening up to a pretty terrace. The layout allows guests privacy in their own space yet there is always the opportunity to gather in the wonderful open-plan living room with its state-of-the-art kitchen and elegant yet easy going ambience. Sliding doors lead straight out to a magnificent pergola terrace, an ideal spot for your morning coffee and pastries accompanied by the tranquil sounds of nature.
Across the vast gardens you’ll find ample space to relax in the shade or soak up the Provençal sunshine, perhaps by the large swimming pool with its sun loungers and parasols. Furthermore, the hospitable and professional owners are on hand for anything you may need to arrange from babysitting and bike rental to Provençal chefs and cookery classes.
It’s lovely to be able to stroll down the lane towards the nearby village, taking around 20 minutes (along the road). Nearby Carpentras hosts an atmospheric weekly market on a Friday morning, one of the largest in the area, whilst the picturesque town of L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue is famed for its Sunday morning brocante and little antique shops.
As well as following wine trails, hiking or cycling near Mont Ventoux and spending the day in Avignon, you are also perfectly positioned for visiting the glorious landscapes of the Luberon region with Gordes, Bonnieux and Roussillon waiting to be explored.
Indeed, here you will be able to discover the real Provence as well as truly relax in stunning surroundings at this architectural gem in southern France.

You can stroll down to the village in around 20-minutes (along the road - no pavement), a charming place with beautiful fountains, many of them French historical monuments. Try the sparkling wine produced from local grapes and buy some of the delicious seasonal produce grown in surrounding farmland such as asparagus, melons, almonds, cherries and more. There’s a great Provençal market once a week on a Saturday and also a Farmer’s market on Wednesday evenings from late Spring to autumn.
Nearby Carpentras is another interesting place to visit with its historic architecture and large bustling market on a Friday morning. Market lovers will also adore the gorgeous town of L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue with its Sunday morning Farmer’s market and brocante as well as characterful antique shops.
Avignon (25km) is a fantastic day out whether you are wanting to visit the two UNESCO World Heritage sites, Saint Benezet Bridge and Pope’s Palace, dine in one of the many excellent restaurants or soak up the ambience at the city’s markets, especially at the weekend.
Wine-enthusiasts can follow a variety of vineyard trails around the local area, as far as the Rhône valley or south to the outstanding region of Luberon. Indeed, a visit to the Luberon is a must with its archetypal Provençal including Gordes (25km), much loved by Van Gogh and one of France’s ‘Plus Beaux Villages’.
Closer to home, canoeing or kayaking along the Sorgue River in Fontaine-de-Vaucluse is a wonderful way to appreciate the natural scenery or head towards the foothills of Mont Ventoux with incredible hikes and cycling – Bédoin (22km) is a good place to start.
Some glorious days can also be spent in the mesmerising Les Alpilles with enchanting villages and towns such as Eygalières, Les Baux-de-Provence and Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, another town famed with its Van Gogh connections, all within an hour by car.

Region
Stay in and around the region of Avignon to discover picturesque villages, historic towns, Côtes du Rhône vineyards and beautiful landscapes of summer sunflowers, olive groves and rural countryside. This is a fantastic base for exploring much of Provence and beyond.
With its historic, gastronomic and cultural riches, the small city of Avignon stands proudly by the banks of the Rhône, home to vibrant markets, restaurants, wine-bars and impressive UNESCO World Heritage sites.
One of the most visited monuments of France, Le Palais des Papes is in the heart of the old city, next to the 12th century cathedral and leafy Jardin des Doms where you can admire gorgeous views of the river and Provençal countryside beyond. Soak up the rich history of Le Pont d’Avignon on a guided tour before heading over the river to capture photogenic shots of the city from île de la Barthelasse, France’s largest river island. Avignon’s little tourist road train is a great way to explore the historic city with young children.
Stock up on seasonal fruit, vegetables and regional delights at the beautiful covered market at Les Halles d’Avignon or wait for the main Saturday morning Provençal market near the 14th century Basilique Saint-Pierre. Embrace the city’s food scene across its many cafes and restaurants from the tourist haunts of Place de l’Horloge to hidden gems found on the charming side streets and shady squares of the old quarter. Avignon is also known for its Côtes du Rhône wineries and bars waiting to be discovered.
In July the 3-week long Festival d’Avignon takes over the city, a world-renowned event with contemporary performing arts, films and exhibitions taking place across theatres, cinemas and outdoor venues.
Beyond the city centre, hire bikes to cycle along part of the via Rhôna route or enjoy the landscapes of île de la Barthelasse passing farmland, orchards and vistas across the river towards Avignon’s city centre. Meanwhile, antique lovers won’t want to miss the Saturday morning brocante in Villeneuve-lès-Avignon, one of Provence’s most famous flea markets, or venture further afield to the wonderful Sunday morning brocante in L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue.
Embrace the Provençal ambience across villages of the Vaucluse – one of our favourites is charming Pernes-les-Fontaines, loved for its many fountains and delightful market every Saturday morning and Wednesday evening in July and August. Velleron is famed for its early evening farmers’ market open throughout the year (six evenings a week from April to September) whilst Saint-Didier and Venasque are two other picture-perfect Provençal villages to discover.
Driving south instead, visit the art galleries and Wednesday morning market of Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, a bustling town on the edge of Les Alpilles where Vincent Van Gogh lived towards the end of his life. Enjoy lunch on a pavement terrace in the idyllic hilltop village of Eygalières (you may even spot a discreet A-list celebrity or two) or head south-west of Avignon to embrace the historic ambience of Tarascon and Beaucaire with their impressive castles overlooking the Rhône river.
Kids
Best Suited For: All AgesWith gorgeous villages, market towns and historic cities close by, as well as wonderful natural landscapes ideal for walking, hiking and cycling, this part of Provence is wonderful for children of every age.
Follow the fountain trail in the local village seeing if you can spot them all and admire the village’s historic houses and buildings as you explore.
Within a short drive there is canoeing or kayaking along the Sorgue River in Fontaine-de-Vaucluse as well as a tree-top climbing centre, Passerelles des Cîmes, a little further with a variety of courses for children aged 4+ and a playground for youngsters.
Children will love the water-based attractions and slides at Wave Island, about 15km away, or head to the amusement park, Parc Spirou, with a range of rollercoasters and other exciting rides.
In the foothills of Mont Ventoux, youngsters may also enjoy a visit to the Llama farm in the forests near Le Barroux, about half an hour away, for a lovely trip out in beautiful surroundings.

Can't wait to come back next year! -
It was simply perfect
The villa is huge, and all the rooms are designed
like real hotel rooms. Our whole family was able to
enjoy each other's company, while still being able
to recharge their batteries in the privacy and
independence of their own rooms. The house is
beautifully decorated, and the landscaped garden
is magnificent. A huge swimming pool, right next to
the pool house. It was simply perfect. -
We loved everything!
Beautiful modern villa and well maintained

friendly pool guy tending to it daily. The villa is
modern and spacious with great air conditioning
and tasteful decoration. The staff were all
extremely friendly and helpful. We had a great
holiday thank you!
We loved the out door space and the beautiful
gardens. We had great fun playing table tennis and
used the outdoor bar and cooking area daily.
Super modern and great cool air conditioning
helped us get a great nights sleep. We also loved
the beautiful fruit and wine hamper and the small
gifts of jams and soap etc - lovely touch! -

We had a great stay! The villa is very modern.
The fact that each room has its own bathroom and
toilet is a real plus. We spent most of our time
between the pool house and the swimming pool,
which is very appreciated on hot days. -

the sun of the south of France. -
This house has everything!
A house where everyone has their own room with
great bedding, bathroom and air conditioning. The
fact of having two cooking areas, especially the
one by the pool, with all the necessary equipment. -

Ideal location, friendly place
Ideal location, friendly place. We can only
recommend it and look forward to staying there
again next summer. -
Authentic setting
We loved our week at Villa Ocre. Our group of families enjoyed the central location in Provence where we visited so many of the villages and sights and returned back to the house each day for an afternoon swim in the glorious pool. The hosts were fantastic and helped us secure a nanny for the kids one evening as well as some transportation. Everything was clean and fresh and felt new, in a really authentic setting. We did have quite a few mosquitos in the early evening, but the bites were well worth the wonderful week we had, can’t wait to return
-
A perfect stay
We had a perfect stay. We enjoyed the large area around the pool and its pool house for fantastic barbecues. The unusual layout of the house and its landscaped garden make it a perfect place for a great holiday.
-
Absolutely perfect
We (9 adults and 2 children) had an amazing time at Villa Ocre - everything was absolutely perfect. The house is huge and well decorated. The main kitchen is lovely and well equipped to cook big meals, the house has 3 fridges which is great to keep all the beers and rose wine fresh for the apéro! No need to fight for the best bedroom cause they’re all fantastic, perfect size with a lovely Italian shower/bathroom and separated toilet... but most important a proper AC!! The pool and the pool area are great too and well oriented so you get to enjoy the sun all day also someone is coming early morning to clean the pool every day and a midweek cleaning of the house is organized. It’s honestly the best location ever for a big family with kids or a group of friends. Marie and her team were absolutely amazing and very helpful if needed so thank you so much for the superb experience. We’ll definitely come back!
-
