Overview
Champs de Lavande is a traditional villa set in glorious grounds with views towards Les Alpilles from its swimming pool and south-facing terrace. Just a 3km drive from the heart of Saint-Rémy, this is a great location for discovering the many gems of this alluring part of Provence.
This inviting holiday home sleeps up to 8 guests across its four bedrooms with a double bedroom and bathroom on the ground floor and a second en suite double and two twins, plus a third bathroom, upstairs. The attractive lounge is spacious and leads straight through to the rustic kitchen-diner whilst pretty French windows open out to the terrace.
It feels like your very own corner of authentic Provence outside as you gaze towards Les Alpilles in the distance. The fragrance of lavender, rosemary and thyme add to the tranquil ambience and you can help yourself to seasonal cherries and apricots from the orchard. Look out at the olive trees as you lunch in the shade beside the summer kitchen, then cool off in the swimming pool in such picturesque surroundings.
Just over a 5-minute drive away you will reach the heart of Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, a bustling historic town known for its art galleries, Van Gogh trail, charming restaurants and wonderful Wednesday morning market that attracts visitors from across Provence. Picture-perfect villages close by include Eygalières, Maussane-les-Alpilles and the famous hilltop village of Les Baux-de-Provence, one of France’s ‘Plus Beaux Villages’.
Try olive oil, cheese and honey in nearby farms as well as local wine or venture a little further towards the vineyards of the Luberon and Rhône valley. Experience the history of Avignon and Nimes, the beauty of Fontaine-de-Vaucluse and the antiques of L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue before following yet more of Van Gogh’s footsteps in Arles.
After a day out exploring, return to Champs de Lavande to dine al-fresco beneath the stars accompanied by good wine and the sound of the cicadas on warm summer evenings in Provence.

Arrive by plane into Nîmes or Marseille Airport or take the fast direct train from Paris-Gare-de-Lyon to Avignon TGV.
Saint-Rémy-de-Provence (3km) is a bustling Provençal town home to terrace cafes, restaurants, art galleries, a range of shops and the famous Wednesday morning market which attracts visitors from across the region – head there early to truly soak up the vibrant ambience. In the height of the summer, a Tuesday evening Creators Market takes place where local artists and creators showcase and sell their wares.
History lovers can visit the archaeological site of Glanum just south of the town, not far from Saint-Paul de Mausole monastery where Vincent Van Gogh spent the last period of his life. As you walk, hike, cycle or horse-ride through the nearby landscapes you can admire the scenery that has inspired so many artists over the years. Art enthusiasts should visit the galleries of Arles (28km), just over half an hour away by car, where Van Gogh painted ‘Café Terrace at Night’.
In the heart of Les Alpilles, Les Baux-de-Provence (13km) is one of France’s ‘Plus Beaux Villages’ with its perched château surrounded by woodland and olive groves below, a paradise for walkers. Food connoisseurs will adore the weekly market, gastronomic shops and restaurants of Maussane-les-Alpilles (13km) or dine at Le Bistrot du Paradou (14km) following the footsteps of Rick Stein. Hilltop Eygalières (13km) is yet another idyllic village not to be missed close by.
A little further afield, the UNESCO World Heritage sites of Avignon (20km) can be visited for a wonderful day out or venture towards the Roman aqueduct, Le Pont du Gard (42km), and Nîmes (47km) in the Gard department.
In the other direction, nature lovers will appreciate the beauty of Fontaine-de-Vaucluse (34km) where you can make the most of the canoeing and kayaking opportunities along the Sorgue River. L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue (31km) is full of Provençal charm, especially loved for its antique stores and Sunday morning brocante, one of the most famous markets in southern France.
