Overview
On the edge of Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, L'Atelier de Charme is a relaxed yet stylish holiday home with its own private pool and glorious garden, just a leisurely stroll from the heart of the much-loved Provençal town.
A characterful abode yet with contemporary style, the main house features a spacious living and dining room which opens up to a modern kitchen. A spiral staircase winds itself up to a striking mezzanine – step out on to the balcony and admire the picturesque views of Les Alpilles. This air-conditioned house features a ground floor bedroom with doors leading out to the south-facing terrace and garden whilst upstairs there are two further bedrooms just off the mezzanine. With a chilled out vibe, this feels like simple Provençal living at its best.
Step into the garden to discover the fourth bedroom, found in a charming wooden cabin with a pretty covered terrace, a perfect escape for teens or perhaps accompanying grandparents. Meet up by the al-fresco dining patio with its barbecue overlooking the swimming pool and lawns bordered by towering Mediterranean trees.
Soak up the artistic ambience in the delightful town of Saint-Rémy, around a 20-minute walk away (via country roads), with its galleries and studios. Head there early on a Wednesday morning to experience the bustling market selling all sorts of wonderful local produce, perhaps followed by lunch in one of the town’s many cafes or bistros.
Spend time exploring the stunning natural beauty of Le Parc Naturel Régional des Alpilles whether walking through olive groves and orchards, hiking through forests or simply driving to captivating medieval villages such as Eygalières and Les Baux-de-Provence. Not to mention so many more jewels of Provence close by from the UNESCO World Heritage sites of Avignon to Van Gogh’s beloved Arles, also the gateway to the mesmerising Camargue.

Location
About the surrounding area of L'Atelier de CharmeL'Atelier de Charme is located just south of Saint-Rémy-de-Provence in the Bouches-du-Rhône, part of the beautiful Parc Naturel Régional des Alpilles.
Situated on the edge of town in a rural area, backing on to the Canal des Alpines and with other villas and farmhouses dotted around, you can wander into Saint-Rémy in around 20-minutes via country roads (or it’s a short 1.5km drive).
It’s such a joy to wander around this characterful Provençal town with its charming shops, little studios and art galleries including the highly regarded Musée Estrine. Experience the bustling ambience at the Wednesday morning market around Place de la République which attracts visitors from across the region, and look out for art and craft evening markets in the height of the summer.
Dine out in a range of restaurants from traditional French bistros to upmarket establishments and there is a good choice of supermarkets, the largest being just a short drive away.
Follow the footsteps of Vincent Van Gogh with an art trail around the town, ending up at the famous Monastery Saint-Paul de Mausole, also near the archaeological site of Glanum. Art-lovers should also spend some time in Van Gogh’s beloved Arles, around 25km by car, home to the Fondation Vincent Van Gogh and also gateway to the mesmerising Camargue.
Beyond Saint-Rémy, admire the UNESCO World Heritage sites of Avignon, only half an hour away, or drive to Nîmes, famed for its Roman heritage and wonderfully preserved Maison Carrée. Combine with a picnic or canoeing excursion at the Pont du Gard ancient Roman aqueduct, another magnificent sight of southern France.
Then of course there’s the glorious scenery of Le Parc Naturel Régional des Alpilles with landscapes of olive groves, woodland, orchards and idyllic hilltop villages such as Les Baux-de-Provence and Eygalières. Dine out in one of Maussane-les-Alpilles’ many restaurants, visit an olive oil farm and hike or horse-ride through the heart of Les Alpilles.
If you have time, drive to some of the timeless villages of the Luberon region such as Gordes, Roussillon and Bonnieux, all within an hour, or spend the day in L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue (35km), an enchanting town with its river branches, waterwheels, antique shops and Sunday morning brocante.

Kids
Best Suited For: All AgesOnly 1.5km from the heart of Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, this is a delightful spot for families who wish to explore this beautiful part of Provence.
Stroll into Saint-Rémy for breakfast in a charming café, soak up the atmosphere at the weekly market on a Wednesday morning or simply potter around the town’s pretty shops, studios and galleries including the interesting Musée Estrine. Van Gogh lovers can follow the art trail around the town, ending at the Monastery Saint-Paul de Mausole.
Heading south, Carrières de Lumières is another great family attraction with its light shows that project art onto the cave walls. The nearby village of Les Baux-de-Provence is also lovely for children who can explore the historic château, then go to the tourist office to pick up a ‘paper chase’ map to help them look out for sights as they wander around the old village.
Le Parc Naturel Régional des Alpilles also offers tennis (the nearest courts are in Saint-Rémy), horse-riding and pony trekking as well as picturesque walks, cycling trails and rock-climbing.
A little further afield, hire canoes and kayaks along the Sorgue river in Fontaine-de-Vaucluse where there is also a popular tree-top adventure centre with activities for a range of ages.
