Step out of the arched window and smell the summer lavender at this charming 8-bedroom Provençal house located between Avignon and Saint-Rémy. In a rural setting, relaxing beside the swimming pool is truly idyllic with its wild garden and flowers.
Le Flamant Rose is a lovely holiday home for a large family or group of friends. The interiors have been sensitively decorated with attractive furnishings and an overall calming and simple atmosphere. Look out for characterful features such as exposed stone walls, cool tiled flooring and wood beams alongside modern additions including Chromecast and a video projector as well as air-conditioning in four of the bedrooms.
There are eight bedrooms across the first floor. Five of the inviting bedrooms have king or queen-size beds and en suite bathroom facilities whilst the remaining three bedrooms share a bathroom. Various single beds are also dotted across the rooms allowing flexible sleeping options for up to 15 guests.
From the living room, pretty arched windows frame the views of the Provençal garden with its lavender, roses and mature trees. There’s a beautiful terrace for al-fresco dining and an outdoor lounge for true relaxation. The swimming pool is gorgeous, fenced off from the rest of the garden with a lovely lawn and chairs/loungers on the decked terrace.
The medieval village of Barbentane is only 2km by car or bike with its winding lanes, old stone houses and historic sites. An 18-hole golf course is just a 5-minute drive away whilst there are wonderful walks and biking routes through La Montagnette forest. What’s more, the heart of historic Avignon and its UNESCO World Heritage sites is merely 13km by car.
To the south is the artistic town of Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, a must on a Wednesday morning when its vibrant market takes over the old town. This is also the gateway to Les Alpilles, a beautiful part of Provence with its hilltop villages, gastronomic restaurants, pine forests, limestone peaks and olive groves producing some of the finest extra virgin olive oil in France.
What you should know…
- This house sleeps 15 guests across eight bedrooms, two with mezzanine levels featuring additional beds (via steep ladder/steps, not suitable for young children). Please check the ‘Layout’ tab carefully for details.
- Air-conditioning is only featured in four of the bedrooms.
- Outside the months of July and August there is also the possibility to hire half of the house (with four bedrooms/bathrooms)– please enquire for pricing.

Location
About the surrounding area of Le Flamant RoseLe Flamant Rose enjoys a rural setting surrounded by farmland and countryside, not far from Le Canal des Alpines and Rhône River. Near the Bouches-du-Rhône and Gard border, this is a fantastic location for visiting Avignon, Saint-Rémy-de-Provence and Les Alpilles as well as the Rhône valley and Nimes.
The Provençal village of Barbentane is 2km away by car or bike. It’s a very pleasant medieval village to stroll around with its old stone houses, winding lanes and historic sites including its Romanesque church, belltower and the 14th century Torre Angelica. There’s a small handful of restaurants in Barbentane as well as a supermarket on the other side of the village.
Discover some lovely hikes and mountain bike rides through the La Montagnette forest, also home to the impressive Abbaye Saint-Michel de Frigolet which is open to the public most Sunday afternoons.
Other local villages and towns include Rognonas (7km), Châteaurenard (12km) and Graveson (10km) for restaurants, shops, more supermarkets and weekly markets. Meanwhile, Saint-Rémy-de-Provence (19km) is less than half an hour away, a bustling Provençal town famed for its restaurants, art galleries, Van Gogh trail and wonderful Wednesday morning market.
Les Alpilles Natural Regional Park offers glorious landscapes of dense forests, olive groves, vines and limestone peaks alongside picture-perfect hilltop villages such as Les Baux-de-Provence (33km) and Eygalières (32km). It’s a paradise for outdoor adventurists with walking and hiking trails alongside cycling, horse-riding, rock-climbing and more.
Heading north instead is the small historic city of Avignon (13km) and its UNESCO World Heritage sites, Le Palais des Papes and Le Pont d’Avignon. Soak up the atmosphere of the city’s vibrant markets, dine out in excellent restaurants and sample wine from the Rhône valley in charming bars. It’s also lovely to hire bikes in the city and cycle across the river to île de la Barthelasse, France’s largest river island, for stunning views of Avignon from the banks of the Rhône.

Avignon is such a wonderful city to explore with its UNESCO World Heritage sites, Le Palais des Papes and Le Pont d’Avignon. Tired legs may appreciate a trip on the tourist road train that tours the main sights whilst more energetic families can hire bikes in Avignon and cycle to the river island, île de la Barthelasse, for lovely views of the historic city from the banks of the Rhône.
It's also fantastic to be within half an hour to Le Pont du Gard (25km), another UNESCO World Heritage site. Take a picnic and paddle by the shores of the Gard River overlooking the magnificent Roman aqueduct or look out for canoeing/kayaking opportunities.
There’s further canoeing and kayaking along the Sorgue River near Fontaine-de-Vaucluse (40km), close to Passerelles des Cîmes for tree-top trails and adventures for a range of ages.
Meanwhile, other summer attractions within a 45-minute drive include Piratland with small rides and amusements for youngsters, Wave Island Waterpark and its neighbouring theme park, Parc Spirou Provence.
