The owners have restored this old Provençal farmhouse near Saint-Rémy in such a sensitive manner, respecting its original character and rural setting in the countryside of Les Alpilles.
Le Mas Des Herbes is a charming holiday home for guests wishing to experience authentic life in Provence whilst also unwinding in beautiful surroundings. At the end of a row of houses, the mas dates back to the mid-1700s and has been wonderfully renovated to welcome 7 guests across its four bedrooms.
We adore the exposed stone walls, tiled floors and wood beamed ceilings of this characterful home. By contrast, the contemporary kitchen is so elegant and the lounge is cosy with its attractive furnishings and satellite TV. The four bedrooms are each individually styled (including one on a mezzanine level) and you can tell that this is an authentic family home.
It's bucolic outside with rosemary, thyme, oleander, cypresses, olive trees, a fountain and terraces for al-fresco dining and relaxing in the sun or shade. Escape to the pool house with its sofas, summer kitchen and dining area, then swim and splash around in the salt-water pool. Le Mas Des Herbes offers such beautiful yet rustic and relaxed outdoor space for spending quality time together.
There are walks on your doorstep along the nearby canal or pass local vineyards, olive groves and pine trees as you appreciate the landscapes of Les Alpilles. The bustling town of Saint-Rémy is just a 5km drive away with its café terraces, restaurants, shops and art galleries – don’t miss the atmospheric market on a Wednesday morning.
Meanwhile, there is so much to explore across Les Alpilles and beyond whether venturing to Arles, Avignon or Gordes or staying closer to home as you admire the hilltop vistas from Les Baux-de-Provence, try some of France’s finest olive oil in Maussane-les-Alpilles or dine out in Michelin starred establishments in Eygalières.
