Pool Villa/House Ideal for Kids All Bedrooms En-Suite Parking Space

Le Mas Celeste is a magnificent Provençal 8-bedroom country house with a pool and grounds that sleeps up to 16 guests. Set in a tranquil location in the heart of the Pays des Sorgues, the property is close to the charming village of L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, famous for its Antique Market and art galleries. Here you can pick up all your essentials and enjoy meandering through narrow cobbled streets or relax at canal-side cafes and sample local cuisine and wines at charming restaurants.

Le Mas Celeste is a beautiful property immersed in the countryside and is perfect for large groups and families. There is a sense of grandeur as you stroll through stunning manicured grounds passing fountains and shady ancient trees as you approach the gorgeous traditional-style farmhouse renovated to a very high standard. Large, shuttered windows and stone walls blend seamlessly with contemporary twists.

With open beam high ceilings, thick stone walls, and traditional tiled floors, the huge open living space retains the charm and character of the building yet offers discreet luxury. Elegant sofas surround a large open hearth, a chandelier hangs over a refined dining space, and a grand piano provides extra entertainment.

There is a cosy living area upstairs with comfy squashy sofas and a card table, the perfect retreat for post-dinner drinks. The impressive dining room was made for fabulous feasts! Exposed walls and imposing elegant furnishings dotted with candelabras will add a sophisticated twist to wonderful dinner parties.

There are two kitchens; a large, well-equipped farmhouse-style kitchen with breakfast space and an utterly amazing professional kitchen used for cooking lessons. There is all the space and equipment you could wish for, including a Lacanche stove, fridge freezer and dishwasher; this is truly a foodie’s delight!

There are eight gorgeous, unique bedrooms, combining historical character with modern comforts. The first bedroom is on the Mezzanine level and offers a king-size bed, a bathroom with a shower and a dressing room. On the first floor, you will find three more double bedrooms. Four bedrooms are located in the second part of the farmhouse, and all are en-suite with a WC, shower or bathtub.

The outside space at Le Mas Celeste is simply gorgeous. Beautifully manicured gardens with banks of lavender and ancient trees provide secluded shady seating areas and stone arches leading to hidden courtyards and fountains. The delightful pool with stone features blends seamlessly into the landscape and offers a secluded space to enjoy long lazy sunny days. Outside dining on balmy evenings will be magical overlooking the lit-up grounds and gardens.

Le Mas Celeste offers comfort, style, and a taste of luxurious country living in a beautiful location.

Enjoying a beautiful countryside location, Le Mas Celeste is in the perfect position to live the ‘real’ Provence dream, yet it is only a 5-minute drive from the buzz of Isle-sur-la-Sorgue.

L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue is famed for its antique shops and art galleries set around the banks of its picturesque canals and is known as the Venice of Provence. There are fabulous markets on Thursday and Sunday mornings with stalls selling antiques, clothing and lots of gorgeous local goods. Relax at one of the many charming cafes and drink in the wonderful atmosphere.

Gordes is a 30-minute drive from the property and has been called the most beautiful village in France. Perched on a rocky promontory in the Vaucluse mountains at the heart of the Luberon Regional National Park, Gordes is gorgeous with stone houses, cobbled streets dotted with fountains and an 11th-century Renaissance castle dominating the landscape. A visit to the castle's art exhibitions is a must, and L’Eglise Saint Fermin Church and the abbey of Our Lady of Senanque, surrounded by lavender fields, are truly sights worth seeing.

Roussillon is a gorgeous hilltop village defined by its amazing palate of Ochre colours. Dating back to Roman times, Roussillon is stunning to look at. Charming and authentic, there are plenty of amenities, including restaurants, cafes, bakeries, specialist shops and galleries. Place de la Maire (Town hall square) is simply stunning and is the most ‘instagrammable’ spot in town.

Avignon is an unmissable treat and only 30 minutes drive from the property. From the excellent Palais des Papes to the famous Pont d’Avignon, there is plenty to do and see, don’t forget to dance on the bridge like the famous nursery rhyme. Kids, big and small, will love the tourist train that takes in all the main sites. Market Les Halles Avignon is a great covered food market and is full of scents and colours, and Avignon is the place for culture with film and theatre festivals as well as the biggest performing arts market in France.

Le Mas Celeste is a fabulous base to explore Provence and is a beautiful taste of grand country living ‘French style’ at this impressive property.

Region

With some of the most enchanting landscapes of Provence, the Luberon awaits with its idyllic perched villages, swathes of lavender, cherry trees, vineyards and dense forest.

Become captivated by the scenery as you potter around artistic Gordes with its atmospheric Tuesday morning market before heading to hilltop Ménerbes, the village that inspired Peter Mayle’s ‘A Year in Provence’. Romantic Bonnieux enjoys the most glorious vistas, surrounded by a sea of vines and orchards, whilst red-hued Roussillon will take your breath away with its ochre landscapes and pine forests. They are all officially classified as ‘Plus Beaux Villages’ in France.

Yet there are so many hidden gems to explore as well. Discover the historic doorways, windmills and summer cherries of Saint-Saturnin-lès-Apt, then head to Goult to embrace its Provençal charm with little shops and pavement cafes. Surrounded by fields of lavender, Saint-Saturnin-lès-Apt is another historic jewel of the Luberon, often overshadowed by the handsome and historic town of Apt.

To the south of the Luberon, follow Albert Camus’ footsteps in Lourmarin, sip coffee by the picturesque bassin lined with plane trees in Cucuron and soak up the history of Ansouis – all three villages have a fine reputation for their high-end dining with a choice of Michelin starred restaurants.

Indeed, across the region look out for restaurant terraces serving Provençal cuisine with superb vistas alongside characterful markets showcasing seasonal delights from the Luberon and beyond (olives, melons, strawberries, cherries, truffles, chestnuts, lavender products and more). Most villages host a lovely weekly market whilst the largest in the Luberon is held on a Saturday morning in Apt. Just on the edge of the Luberon, L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue is famed for its antique stores and Sunday morning brocante. Meanwhile, wine lovers should visit the vineyards and wineries of the region producing Luberon and Ventoux AOC wines.

The walking, hiking and cycling opportunities in the Luberon seem endless and you will also find horse-riding, rock-climbing and tree-top adventures as well as canoeing and kayaking along the Sorgue near Fontaine-de-Vaucluse. Come across hiking trails for all abilities passing vineyards and forest or venture through the hills and mountain gorges for spectacular scenery. Cycling is also extremely popular – as well as more challenging routes, we especially love the family-friendly Véloroute du Calavon, a paved voie verte following a former railway line near the Calavon river passing poppies, lavender and orchards so typical of the Luberon.

Kids

Best Suited For: All Ages
Ideal for Kids Ideal for Teens

Le Mas Celeste has amazing grounds and gardens, and the kids will have a fantastic time exploring. The delightful pool is sure to be a big hit alongside the Boules area, and there is loads of space for fun and games after plenty of sunny adventures.

You are close to the beautiful village of L’isle-sur-la-Sorgue, which is a lovely spot for the kids to wander around. When they get hot and bothered, walk along to Partage Des Eaux, where the river is very shallow and calm and a lovely spot for a dip. There is lots of open space alongside a picnic area and a café.

A great family day out is to visit Roussillon. Kids will love The Ochre trail (Sentier des Ochre). This is a great way to learn more about this unique area. Well-signed paths pass through the old open pit ochre quarry, which has spectacular cliffs and structures in stunning colours - remember to bring your camera!

The Ecomusse de l’ocre museum offers fabulous discovery workshops to take part in and is suitable for all ages; art lovers will delight in discovering the secrets behind pastel manufacture and watercolour paintings.

A visit to the ancient walled town of Les Baux should entertain all the family, there are lovely little shops and cafes, and there is an underground stone quarry at the site of Carrieres de Lumieres, a spectacular moving light show of art to the sound of music. With artwork projected on walls and the floor in the darkened quarry, you will feel you are inside the works of art. This is a great way to introduce your budding Van Goghs to the world of art.

For a zest of life, visit the city of Aix-en-Provence. Upmarket and classy with leafy boulevards lined with 17th & 18th-century mansions, Aix offers wonderful shopping and fabulous street markets in its part-pedestrianised centre.

Cours Mirabeau is the 440m-long Main Boulevard. The light reflected from the warm-coloured stone buildings inspired artists like Cezanne. You cannot help but feel good strolling past three magnificent fountains, centuries-old trees and pavement cafes & restaurants full of character.

There is so much to do and see in Provence; the possibilities are endless, making it a wonderful destination for kids of all ages.
