Set in the countryside, Villa Cabernet benefits from vast land which includes large lawns, woodland, a vineyard, boules and a stunning 17m long heated swimming pool with views as far as Mont Ventoux. Relax on the decked poolside terrace or create a feast to enjoy with family and friends in the superb pool house’s kitchen. There’s also al-fresco dining at its best on the south-facing terrace by the villa.
The interiors of Villa Cabernet are bright and modern yet with ample character as well as plenty of space. There are three double bedrooms in the main house and space for a seventh and eighth guest in the separate pool house, around 60m from the villa, where there is a sofa-bed or mezzanine bedroom, perhaps ideal for older teens. Out of the three bathrooms, the one with a walk-in shower and bath with jacuzzi jets is sure to impress your guests.
It’s only a short drive to the charming village of Ménerbes, where Peter Mayes’ ‘A Year in Provence’ was once set. As well as steep cobbled lanes with restaurants and cafes, there’s a vibrant weekly market and beautiful views of cherry orchards and vineyards in the surrounding landscapes.
Other Luberon gems nearby include Gordes, Lacoste and Bonnieux whilst slightly further afield you can spend the day visiting the antique stores of L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, canoeing along the river from Fontaine-de-Vaucluse or admiring the UNESCO World Heritage sites of historic Avignon.

About the surrounding area of Villa CabernetIn the Luberon region of Provence, part of the Vaucluse department of southern France, Villa Cabernet is set in spacious grounds only 1km from the picturesque village of Ménerbes.
Ménerbes is a delightful place to spend time in whether pottering around its Thursday morning market or simply exploring its cobbled lanes, restaurants and cafes soaking up the Provençal ambience as seen in Peter Mayes’ ‘A Year in Provence’.
You’re also so well positioned for exploring other idyllic villages of the Luberon from Van Gogh’s beloved Gordes to other archetypal places such as Bonnieux, Lacoste and Roussillon. Food lovers will enjoy the fantastic Saturday morning market in Apt, just under half an hour by car, or closer to home enjoy the foodie shops and Sunday Farmer’s market in nearby Coustellet.
This region is wonderful for keen walkers and cyclists with a range of trails passing vineyards, olive groves and orchards. Lovers of outdoor adventures should also experience some of the hikes and canoeing/kayaking opportunities around Fontaine-de-Vaucluse, the source of the beautiful Sorgue river.
Further day trips beyond the Luberon include the historic city of Avignon (40km) and its UNESCO World Heritage sites as well as the artistic town of Saint-Rémy-de-Provence (38km), set in the glorious landscapes of Les Alpilles. Heading further south, Aix-en-Provence (61km) is another delight with its terrace cafes, parks and art galleries/museums including Atelier Cézanne, the studio once belonging to the famous artist.

With some of the most enchanting landscapes of Provence, the Luberon awaits with its idyllic perched villages, swathes of lavender, cherry trees, vineyards and dense forest.
Become captivated by the scenery as you potter around artistic Gordes with its atmospheric Tuesday morning market before heading to hilltop Ménerbes, the village that inspired Peter Mayle’s ‘A Year in Provence’. Romantic Bonnieux enjoys the most glorious vistas, surrounded by a sea of vines and orchards, whilst red-hued Roussillon will take your breath away with its ochre landscapes and pine forests. They are all officially classified as ‘Plus Beaux Villages’ in France.
Yet there are so many hidden gems to explore as well. Discover the historic doorways, windmills and summer cherries of Saint-Saturnin-lès-Apt, then head to Goult to embrace its Provençal charm with little shops and pavement cafes. Surrounded by fields of lavender, Saint-Saturnin-lès-Apt is another historic jewel of the Luberon, often overshadowed by the handsome and historic town of Apt.
To the south of the Luberon, follow Albert Camus’ footsteps in Lourmarin, sip coffee by the picturesque bassin lined with plane trees in Cucuron and soak up the history of Ansouis – all three villages have a fine reputation for their high-end dining with a choice of Michelin starred restaurants.
Indeed, across the region look out for restaurant terraces serving Provençal cuisine with superb vistas alongside characterful markets showcasing seasonal delights from the Luberon and beyond (olives, melons, strawberries, cherries, truffles, chestnuts, lavender products and more). Most villages host a lovely weekly market whilst the largest in the Luberon is held on a Saturday morning in Apt. Just on the edge of the Luberon, L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue is famed for its antique stores and Sunday morning brocante. Meanwhile, wine lovers should visit the vineyards and wineries of the region producing Luberon and Ventoux AOC wines.
The walking, hiking and cycling opportunities in the Luberon seem endless and you will also find horse-riding, rock-climbing and tree-top adventures as well as canoeing and kayaking along the Sorgue near Fontaine-de-Vaucluse. Come across hiking trails for all abilities passing vineyards and forest or venture through the hills and mountain gorges for spectacular scenery. Cycling is also extremely popular – as well as more challenging routes, we especially love the family-friendly Véloroute du Calavon, a paved voie verte following a former railway line near the Calavon river passing poppies, lavender and orchards so typical of the Luberon.

Best Suited For: All AgesThe Luberon is a paradise for families who love outdoor adventures with a great range of walks, hikes and cycle rides for a variety of abilities.
You will find horse-riding close by as well as rock-climbing near the small village of Buoux and in parts of the neighbouring Les Alpilles region.
Just outside the Luberon, around a 20-minute drive away, Fontaine-de-Vaucluse offers canoeing and kayaking opportunities along the beautiful Sorgue river. Children may also enjoy spending time at the tree-top adventure centre with trails for a range of ages including youngsters (depending on height restrictions).
Other attractions include Parc Spirou, an amusement park near Carpentras, and the caves at Grottes de Thouzon, both just over half an hour away. The model railway centre, Le Jarditrain, is another charming place that will appeal to both young and old.

Fantastic week
We had the most fantastic week. We took our grown up kids and friends and they were totally enraptured by the place, as were we. The conversion is wonderful and the pool area especially great - we played a lot of petanque and pool games, I think I spent almost one whole hour just floating around on a noodle watching buzzards. The girls loved the art, my son had vinyl envy and the lawn was just the right size for holiday cricket. The owner's attention to detail and comfort made us feel at home and not too overawed to enjoy ourselves. To be honest I'm not sure if the website does justice to how special the house is and leaving after only one week was tough.

Great!
We had a great time at Villa Cabernet. The house was good and we especially enjoyed our daily lap swimming and playing in the pool and regular petanque. I even got to pick some ripe cherries and make a cherry tarte tatin .

This house is beautifully situated in a setting of great charm. The welcome is generous and the house is especially well equipped. The pool is very large and an ideal layout for the sunshine. We were able to enjoy the property with guests and a young baby in great comfort.
