This rustic pied-à-terre is set amongst glorious Provençal grounds only a short walk to the pretty village of with its restaurants, little shops and lovely weekly market.
Maison d’Arbres feels like stepping into a genuine Provençal home with its charming interiors alongside a sense of warmth and comfort. Both the wood-beamed living-dining room and traditional kitchen have large windows opening out to the garden terrace for outdoor dining whilst the separate TV lounge features Apple TV and a huge choice of DVDs for afternoons escaping the summer sun.
On the first floor, discover the library for peaceful reading alongside four air-conditioned bedrooms, two en suite and the other two sharing a connecting shower room. The very top floor is home to the final two air-conditioned bedrooms beneath the eaves – the variety of beds across the six rooms means there are plenty of flexible options whether staying with family or friends.
Outside, the heated swimming pool awaits with its sun loungers and deck chairs and there is a vine-covered terrace for leisurely al-fresco meals in the shade. At the very end of the grounds past the driveaway, a beautiful Provençal garden awaits with elegant cypresses, olive trees, lavender and vines.
In a residential setting, simply walk along the country road and within 650m you could be sitting on the shady terrace of Café de la Fontaine overlooking the village fountain and church or pottering around the little shops. Surrounded by groves of olive trees, Maussane-les-Alpilles is known for producing some of France’s finest extra virgin olive oil.
Neighbouring Paradou is another lovely spot for lunch (home of Le Bistrot du Paradou) whilst Les Baux-de-Provence, one of France’s ‘Plus Beaux Villages’ is only 4.5km away. From all three villages there are some stunning walking trails through the iconic landscapes of Les Alpilles.
Meanwhile, follow Van Gogh’s footsteps in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence and Arles, enjoy a gastronomic meal in hilltop Eygalières and spend the day visiting the historic city of Avignon and its UNESCO World Heritage sites, less than an hour away by car from your Provençal village home.

Location
About the surrounding area of Maison d'ArbresMaison d’Arbres is set in an attractive residential area just outside the charming village of Maussane-les-Alpilles, only 11km from Saint-Rémy-de-Provence and a 45-minute drive from the historic city of Avignon.
Stroll along the country lanes/roads and within 650m you could be enjoying a coffee on a café terrace overlooking the village square, its church and pretty fountain. Loved for its extra virgin olive oil, Maussane-les-Alpilles is such a delightful village with shops, restaurants and cafes as well as a Thursday morning market.
Neighbouring Paradou (2km) is much smaller but also full of character, best known for Le Bistrot du Paradou and its daily set menu (book ahead). Golf-lovers note that you are well located for Domaine de Manville (1.6km), not far from the perched village of Les Baux-de-Provence (4km), one of France’s classified ‘Plus Beaux Villages’.
Enjoy glorious walks and hikes passing endless olive groves or discover the beautiful landscapes of Les Alpilles Natural Regional Park on horseback or by cycling. Other lovely villages to explore include authentic Fontvieille (9km) and its windmill walking trail alongside idyllic Eygalières (19km), a hilltop village with gorgeous architecture and high-end restaurants.
Saint-Rémy-de-Provence (11km) is a must for art lovers thanks to its art studios dotted across the old quarter and the Van Gogh trail ending at Monastery Saint-Paul de Mausole. Saint-Rémy’s Wednesday morning market is not to be missed – it attracts visitors from across the region.
Van Gogh’s beloved Arles (18km) is another highlight for history and art lovers alike, also the gateway to the Camargue with its wild landscapes and stunning nature. Another fine day out in less than an hour is the Roman aqueduct, Le Pont du Gard (40km) – pack a picnic and sit by the riverside or look out for canoeing/kayaking opportunities in incredible surroundings.

There is a comfy TV lounge with TNT/Apple TV and a huge range of DVDs, a great way to escape the summer sun after lunch. It’s also lovely to be able to stroll to the local village for your morning croissants and fresh bread or to simply enjoy a cool drink on a café terrace and meals out in the evening.
Les Alpilles Natural Regional Park offers a variety of outdoor activities from walks and more challenging hikes to horse-riding, pony treks, cycling and rock-climbing. Le Vélorail des Alpilles is a fun activity in nearby Fontvieille (pedal as you admire glorious scenery) whilst Arles is home to Fondation Vincent van Gogh and Luma Parc des Ateliers modern art exhibitions (with an artistic twisting slide for older children).
A little further afield, discover nature discovery trails, horse-riding, quad tours and boat trips across the landscapes of the Camargue or visit the incredible Roman aqueduct, Le Pont du Gard, a great spot for picnics and paddling by the river or even canoeing/kayaking.
Heading south-east towards Salon-de-Provence instead, other attractions include a tree-top adventure centre, the popular Zoo Barben and Le Village des Automates theme park, all within a 45 to 60-minute drive.
