Overview
Maison Des Boutons is an extraordinary home that has been lovingly decorated by its antique-dealing owner. Filled with authentic pieces purchased from local markets, this house is a unique place to spend your holiday in Provence.
A reflection of the owner’s passion for the region, each room has a great sense of character and tradition. Step inside and you are instantly transported back in time, especially in the large kitchen/dining room with its wooden beams, hanging pots and pans, crockery collection and little clothes pulley. Pastel-coloured walls, patterned rugs and soft furnishings create a cosy and relaxed feel, while chandeliers, ornate mirrors and endless bric-a-brac add to the quirkiness of this home. This theme continues in the living room, study and in each of the maison’s six bedrooms.
Set in over two acres of exquisitely tended grounds dotted with lavender, flowers, fruit trees and an alleyway of olive trees, outside is a real haven. A rose-clad pergola can be found next to the swimming pool, while there’s also a vegetable garden in which tomatoes, summer vegetables and herbs grow. There are various seating areas for soaking up the sunshine, plus a terrace with an outdoor dining table for enjoying al-fresco meals throughout the day.
The nearest restaurants, shops and cafés can be found just a 10-minute drive away in the medieval town of Le Thor. Strolling through the streets you will also discover an ancient castle and 12th-century church. Some scenic walks depart from Le Thor and a tour of the ‘Cave of Fairies’ is not to be missed.
The beautiful town of L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue can be reached in just 20 minutes and is home to an incredibly popular antiques market. Browse the hundreds of stalls before walking along the canals and admiring the town’s mansion houses and flower-filled streets.
Other towns less than 20km away include Velleron, which also boasts an impressive 17th-century chateau, and Carpentras, which is renowned for its busy flea market.
The UNESCO World Heritage City of Avignon is just 20km away and definitely worth a visit when staying in Provence. Its historic centre is packed with fascinating sites, museums and great restaurants, while the cool bohemian quarter by the River Sorgue has lively bars and a vibrant atmosphere.

Amazingly Beautiful Property!
A group of ladies traveled to Provence and rented Maison Des Boutons for a week. We have taken many trips to Europe and this house, by far, was the most incredible. From the beautiful grounds to the magnificent home, everything was perfect. The pictures of the house are exactly how it looks. We didn't want to stay in a place that looked American - we wanted to feel like we were in France. Needless to say, we couldn't have picked a better place. The kitchen has everything you need to cook meals. The bedrooms are beautiful and the beds are also very comfortable! We rented a car to take day trips and all towns are easily accessible from the house. We brought a GPS with us that was loaded with France maps. I highly recommend this if you plan on driving through Provence. It made day trips very enjoyable. There is also a supermarket close by which is great because we cooked every night. The caretakers of the home are helpful and kind. All of my friends share my enthusiasm for this incredible home and we would highly recommend it to others who want to experience a beautiful holiday in Provence!
