Overview
Set between Saint-Rémy and Les Baux-de-Provence, Maison Jeanette is perfect for guests seeking a taste of authentic Provence. This characterful abode is located in glorious grounds with majestic pines, olive trees, summer roses and a heated swimming pool.
It feels like home as soon as you step inside, with the inviting living room, comfy TV lounge/library and sociable kitchen-diner where French windows open out to the terrace. There are six pretty bedrooms, five with queen-size double beds and one children’s twin. The two upper floor doubles feature air-conditioning and private bathrooms.
The main allure of this traditional mas is surely its beautiful and vast grounds with a heated swimming pool, stone barbecue and a gorgeous garden with herbs, roses, oleander, cacti, terracotta pots of summer colours alongside pine trees, cypresses, a small olive grove and glimpses of Les Alpilles hills – all the charms of Provence!
Sit back on warm summer evenings on the terrace enjoying al-fresco meals together before retiring to the berber tent’s outdoor lounge, perhaps with a bottle of local wine, to chat late into the evening.
If you prefer to dine out, book a table at the neighbouring hotel’s gastronomic restaurant a short stroll away or drive to the pavement café-bars and bistros of Saint-Rémy, a bustling Provençal town famed for its art heritage and wonderful Wednesday morning market.
In the other direction is one of France’s ‘Plus Beaux Villages’, perched Les Baux-de-Provence and its château, alongside lovely Maussane-les-Alpilles, the perfect spot for lunch on the village square – don’t miss the delicious extra virgin olive oil from the Baux valley.
Meanwhile, spend the day soaking up the history of Arles, Avignon or Nîmes and canoe or picnic by the magnificent Pont du Gard. If you can find the time, embrace the ambience of L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue’s Sunday morning market, visit the vineyards of the Rhône valley and venture to the idyllic landscapes of the Luberon with gems such as Gordes and Ménerbes less than an hour away.

In typically Provençal surroundings, the house is located just off the country road that leads south to Les Baux-de-Provence (5.5km). Also discover wonderful hiking and cycling routes, a great way to admire the gorgeous scenery in this part of Provence.
The bustling and artistic town of Saint-Rémy-de-Provence is a joy to explore with its tree-lined streets populated by pavement cafés, authentic bistros, art galleries and shops. Follow the Van Gogh trail as you learn all about the famous Dutch artist’s time spent in Saint-Rémy, ending at the Centre Culturel Saint-Paul de Mausole. Head to the town early on a Wednesday morning to soak up the ambience of the wonderful Provençal market.

Maussane-les-Alpilles (8.5km) is another pretty place for lunch on the village square or a potter around the shops selling gastronomic delights. The tiny village of Paradou (9.5km) is home to Rick Stein’s beloved Le Bistrot du Paradou.
A little further afield, there are so many highlights of Provence and beyond within easy reach. Embrace the art and history of Arles (23km), the gateway to the Camargue, whilst Roman enthusiasts will also appreciate historic Nîmes (43km) and the beauty of Le Pont du Gard (35km) where you can picnic by the river or canoe beneath the mighty aqueduct.
There are further canoeing and kayaking opportunities along the Sorgue River near Fontaine-de-Vaucluse (42km) alongside the enchanting riverside cafes and antique stores of L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue (38km). The perched villages (Gordes, Ménerbes, Bonnieux), vineyards and incredible landscapes of the Luberon are less than an hour away or venture north towards the Rhône valley for further wine-tasting near Châteauneuf-du-Pape (40km).
