With a gorgeous garden and fabulous countryside views, Maison Millefiori is a beautifully renovated old Provence farmhouse that sits on an olive oil estate. The house is elegant, calm and beautiful, sitting just under 2km from the village of Robion. With seven bedrooms, this gorgeous, characterful property sleeps up to fourteen guests and is ideal for groups of friends or family.

Maison Millefiori is comprised of a farmhouse and an annex which is home to one of the bedrooms and bathrooms. Its communal spaces include a lovely dining room, a country kitchen and three living rooms. The dining room offers much character with gorgeous exposed ceiling beams, modern chairs tucked around a farmhouse table, a vintage dresser and French doors out to the garden. The bright and airy summer living room also enjoys a beautiful ceiling and French doors to the garden as well as comfy leather sofas and a large TV with some English channels while the winter living room offers a large fireplace for a cosy evening in. It is great to have so many spaces where you can nestle down with a good book, enjoy a cup of tea or slide away to watch a movie. The kitchen sits just off the dining room and boasts excellent appliances including both a Nespresso coffee machine and a filter coffee machine.

Within the main house you will also discover six charming bedrooms, all with air-conditioning and en-suite bathrooms. The house is split into two sides, with a right wing and a left wing each boasting three bedrooms and separate staircases. This layout offers some privacy and could be ideal for two families holidaying together. The final bedroom is found in the annexe apartment which enjoys its own living room, kitchen and en-suite shower room.

The house offers a beautiful terrace with a large al-fresco dining table and chairs and a gas barbecue. Under the shade of the pergola is an outdoor lounge area, perfect for pre-dinner drinks. Beyond this lovely area is the lawn, surrounded by pretty borders. The pool area is to one side of the house while the pool house enjoys a handy drinks fridge, a sink, shower and WC. For some healthy family competition, a table tennis table sits nearby.

Amid acres of olive and fruit trees and with a backdrop of rocky cliffs, the nearby village of Robion sits just over 2km away. It is split into two parts, with an old part that offers winding streets heading up to a church and square. It is a peaceful place to spend a morning wandering around, with an old fountain, an ancient church and a cafe. In the new part you will find restaurants, bakeries, the butchers, a mini-market and a handful of other shops. There are also tennis courts, a playground and an open-air theatre with the high cliffs offering a wonderful stage backdrop

Close to Robion is the picturesque village of Gordes (12km), the ochre wonder of Roussillon (21km) and the attractive town of Cavaillon (6km). Not too far away the you will also find the lively city of Avignon (30km).

Maison Millefiori is located in glorious countryside near the Luberon village of Robion plus a handful of charming hilltop towns including Gordes and Cavaillon. The wonderful former papal city of Avignon is also within close proximity.

The village of Robion (2km) is peaceful and picturesque, clinging to the foot of the mountain. There are two parts to the it, one new and one old. It was once a fortified hilltop village, further protected by the cliffs behind. Today, a walk around the back and over the top takes you along ancient cobblestone lanes and through arched gateways. With a good array of shops and restaurants, it is a great spot.

The village of Gordes sits within very easy reach, just a 12km drive from Maison Millefiori. It boasts a fantastic market which is held on Tuesday mornings and is the perfect place to pick up local produce and a few souvenirs. Here you will also find pretty alleyways lined with charming restaurants and cafes as well as a good bakery and food stores.

No visit to Gordes is complete without visiting the network of caves beneath the village called the Caves du Palais Saint Firmin. Exploring the cellars with their carved pillars, stone staircases and vaulted ceilings takes you back in time to the Middle Ages and provides a fascinating insight into the village’s past.

The hamlet of ‘Les Cabanes’, 4km from Gordes, is now known as the Village des Bories. Sitting on the slopes of the Monts de Vaucluse. This collection of dry stone huts date back to the Bronze Age and are testament to the exceptional ancestral art of building. It is a must-visit for history lovers and also includes The Glass Museum of Bouillons, which tells the story of glass through many collections going back to Mesopotamia 7000 years ago.

Also just outside of Gordes, you can visit the stunning Senanque Abbey (16km) which has become almost more renowned for its photo opportunities than its monastery! Be sure to get a group picture in amidst the bright purple fields.

The town of Cavaillon (6km) cleverly combines agriculture, culture and tourism. With diverse landscapes, this small Provençal town is nestled at the foot of the hill of Saint Jacques and is a gateway to the Natural Park. Popular places to visit in the town include Synagogue du Cavaillon, Hotel d’Agar, Chapelle Saint Jacques, Cathedral Saint Veran and the town’s arches.

The lively regional markets are also not to be missed! Head to Gordes market on a Tuesday morning and mix with the locals or visit Carpentras (27km) on a Friday morning to stock up on souvenirs. L'Isle sur la Sorgue (9km), which is known as the Venice of Provence, also has a huge market on Sunday mornings which features antiques and bric-a-brac alongside local produce.

Provence is rich in history and there are plenty of attractions to include in your holiday programme. The Triumphal Arch in Orange (50km), the Papal Palace and the Pont St Benezet in Avignon (30km) are all worth visiting. Avignon is a very attractive walled city which served as the Vatican City for several decades. Today, it is one of France’s most popular tourist cities and boasts great museums and stunning architecture.

Region

With some of the most enchanting landscapes of Provence, the Luberon awaits with its idyllic perched villages, swathes of lavender, cherry trees, vineyards and dense forest.

Become captivated by the scenery as you potter around artistic Gordes with its atmospheric Tuesday morning market before heading to hilltop Ménerbes, the village that inspired Peter Mayle’s ‘A Year in Provence’. Romantic Bonnieux enjoys the most glorious vistas, surrounded by a sea of vines and orchards, whilst red-hued Roussillon will take your breath away with its ochre landscapes and pine forests. They are all officially classified as ‘Plus Beaux Villages’ in France.

Yet there are so many hidden gems to explore as well. Discover the historic doorways, windmills and summer cherries of Saint-Saturnin-lès-Apt, then head to Goult to embrace its Provençal charm with little shops and pavement cafes. Surrounded by fields of lavender, Saint-Saturnin-lès-Apt is another historic jewel of the Luberon, often overshadowed by the handsome and historic town of Apt.

To the south of the Luberon, follow Albert Camus’ footsteps in Lourmarin, sip coffee by the picturesque bassin lined with plane trees in Cucuron and soak up the history of Ansouis – all three villages have a fine reputation for their high-end dining with a choice of Michelin starred restaurants.

Indeed, across the region look out for restaurant terraces serving Provençal cuisine with superb vistas alongside characterful markets showcasing seasonal delights from the Luberon and beyond (olives, melons, strawberries, cherries, truffles, chestnuts, lavender products and more). Most villages host a lovely weekly market whilst the largest in the Luberon is held on a Saturday morning in Apt. Just on the edge of the Luberon, L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue is famed for its antique stores and Sunday morning brocante. Meanwhile, wine lovers should visit the vineyards and wineries of the region producing Luberon and Ventoux AOC wines.

The walking, hiking and cycling opportunities in the Luberon seem endless and you will also find horse-riding, rock-climbing and tree-top adventures as well as canoeing and kayaking along the Sorgue near Fontaine-de-Vaucluse. Come across hiking trails for all abilities passing vineyards and forest or venture through the hills and mountain gorges for spectacular scenery. Cycling is also extremely popular – as well as more challenging routes, we especially love the family-friendly Véloroute du Calavon, a paved voie verte following a former railway line near the Calavon river passing poppies, lavender and orchards so typical of the Luberon.

Kids

Best Suited For: All Ages
Ideal for Kids Ideal for Teens

Maison Millefiori is an ideal holiday home for one or two families or perhaps a multi-generational family. Children love this house - it has numerous living spaces so they can easily play in one while the adults enjoy pre-dinner drinks in another. The gardens are wonderful, as is the swimming pool so you are sure to want to spend plenty of time here.

When you do wish to venture out, Robion village is a serene place to explore, though there are still some handy shops, cafes and restaurants as well as a playground and tennis court.

In Avignon, a little tourist train takes visitors to the main sights including the Palais des Papes, the famous bridge and the winding, pretty back streets of the old town. There are also hop-on-hop-off buses that children will enjoy and even horse-drawn carriages for getting around the city centre. Families can visit the Palais des Papes and pick up a HistoPad which offers a specially designed treasure hunt and games for children. Just above the Palais is Rocher des Dom, a lovely park which offers shade, wonderful views, a pond with ducks and swans, play and picnic areas. A number of annual festivals including the Festo Pitcho at Easter with a fancy dress parade, shows and performances are held within the city.

Reviews

  • We had a wonderful time at the villa!

    on 03/11/2019

The owner met us at the door, and was very welcoming. She lives nearby if there are any problems, but it is such a great place, well equipped and with everything we could want, that there were no issues, other than we didn't want to leave. BTW, we were a family group of 10 adults and 2 children. The owner provided a crib and highchair and bedding. We could not have had a better time.

  • Magnificent!

    on 18/06/2017

A very beautiful place that inspires a feeling of calm, rest. This is a charming old farmhouse, large and decorated with great taste. Several spots where one can relax, a big swimming pool, in a Provencal garden. The olive trees are all around, making a haven of peace. We could not fault it.
