Overview
Set in a charming Provençal village close to the mountains and ancient forests of the Luberon Natural Regional Park you will find Maison Pepin, a modern home which can accommodate eight guests in comfort.
As you enter the home you will see a vast, open-plan living space which is contemporary yet warm and welcoming. The sitting area offers an L-shaped sofa next to a wood burner which would be cosy for an autumnal trip. Also, in this light-filled space there is a large dining table next to the fully-fitted kitchen. This layout creates a sociable environment for cooking and dining together.
There are four bedrooms available at the villa for when you need to recharge after a busy day. On the ground floor there is a master room with an en-suite bathroom which would be ideal for those who want a little privacy from the rest of the party. Upstairs there are a further three bedrooms; one double and two twin.
As you step outdoors you will see unrivalled views of the hills and mountains which make up the Luberon. Whether you are sitting under the covered pergola, dining al-fresco or swimming in the private pool, you will find yourself encircled by beautiful sweeping vistas in a leafy garden.
When you do not feel like cooking or want to pick up some fresh baguettes in the morning, then the nearest amenities can be found in the heart of the small village of Oppède. The old village of Oppède le Vieux is also just 3.5km away and has a rich history and a number of attractions to explore.
There are many idyllic towns and villages dotted around the hillsides of the Luberon and Roussillon, just 18km away, is one of the most impressive. If you like spending time outdoors then you are perfectly placed for exploring this picturesque natural environment.

Location
About the surrounding area of Maison PepinMaison Pepin sits in a leafy garden within the mountain landscape of The Luberon Natural Regional Park. With countless walking trails and charming villages close by, this is a wonderful place to stay for a trip exploring stunning Provence.
The home is located within a small village called Oppède which has a number of eateries, a bar and bakery which are really useful to have in walking distance. Before this village was settled, the villagers used to live 3.5km away in Oppède le Vieux which was built in to the sheer mountain face for defensive purposes. The village was built over 1000 years ago and was eventually abandoned when the constant battles of medieval France came to an end. Oppède le Vieux is a lovely place to meander around, you can visit the churches, castle ruins and the old town walls before enjoying dinner al-fresco in the tranquil square.
If you love spending time in nature then this is a fantastic place for you to stay. The Luberon parkland is vast and diverse and you can do lots of different outdoor activities here including kayaking, hiking, walking, paragliding and horse riding all while soaking in the staggering views. For the best views over the whole area why not head up Mourre Nègre, it is well worth the climb!
The Luberon is also famous for being home to a wealth of stunning hilltop villages. There are so many that you could visit one each day and never run out of things to see and do without having to travel far from the villa. One such village is Menerbes which is 4.5km away from the house and is a must-see village, classed as one of the most beautiful in all of France. The village has been inhabited since Neolithic times but became a thriving community in the medieval era and was defended by its citadel and huge walls. Visitors can explore the castle ruins, the clock tower and sample local truffles and wines.
Another gorgeous place to discover is Bonnieux which is 16km away by car. The village is set on top of a hill over 450m high and is crowned by its church. The houses and shops wind their way down the hill from the church at the centre and look down over the rolling fields below which were often painted by Impressionist artists. In the village you can see the 13th century walls, climb the 86 steps up to the church and even visit a bread museum before taking a break for a tasty lunch with a view.
If you would like to pay a visit to a busy city which is packed with museums and galleries then Avignon is a wonderful place for a day trip. This historic city is 35km away from the house and has plenty to see. You could choose to see the city while relaxing on a boat trip down the River Rhône or by taking a walking tour with a local guide.

Region
The Provençal way of life is one that’s deeply tempting for anyone who’s been feeling the need to get away from it all. This is a place where the Mediterranean weather turns fields of corn and lavender into picture-perfect backdrops, where you can sip your locally bought wine and enjoy the landscapes before heading out and tackling them head-on with a range of great activities for families, groups of friends and adventurous foodies. Better yet, our range of villas in Provence and chateaux and holiday homes in the Côte d’Azur make the perfect base to explore this enchanting region!
Kids
Best Suited For: All AgesProvence has long been a favourite spot for family holidays and with child-friendly villages and wide-open spaces to run around it is easy to see why.
A brilliant place to take the children for the day is the Sorgue river which is a crystal-clear river that flows through stunning landscapes and is around 25km away. There are a few companies that offer kayaking on the river; one which you can simply hire from and others which host lessons or supervised trips which may reassure those with little ones. The route is a simple, downstream paddle and there is lots of wildlife around to look out for included fish and beavers. Once you reach the end point, you could stop off for a scenic picnic before a bus returns you to where you started.
Or, for those thrill-seekers among the group, head to the nearby Parc Spirou in Monteux, where you'll find a delightful amusement park experience, just a 40-minute drive away. For nature-loving families, the Colorado Provencal in Rustrel is perfect for a day of hiking and picnicking amid vibrant ochre landscapes, less than an hour's drive from the house.
