Overview

Pool Villa/House Modern
Great Value
Ideal for Kids Walk to Village Parking Space

A short drive from Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, Maison Primevère is such a delightful holiday home, the type of place you will yearn to return to year after year thanks to its lovely setting in a charming Provençal village and its magnificent swimming pool and pool house.

This attractive white maison has only recently been renovated and its owners have created a bright and welcoming abode with pretty décor and lots of character. The open-plan living and dining space downstairs features cool tiled floors and wood-beamed ceilings alongside modern furnishings whilst the French kitchen is so pretty as well as being well-equipped. Upstairs, three queen-size doubles, a twin/double and a triple with a set of bunk-beds allows up to 11 guests to stay across the five air-conditioned bedrooms, making it ideal for an extended family or small group of friends.

The garden and swimming pool will enchant you even more – oleander, lavender and jasmine add an abundance of Provençal colour whilst cypress trees and mature hedges surround the magnificent swimming pool area which is conveniently gated for youngsters. Enjoy a coffee beneath the pergola as the kids play ping-pong, then challenge a loved one to a game of pétanque on the court to the side of the house which can be atmospherically lit up at night.

Stepping through the gate, admire the majestic olive tree behind the 10m long swimming pool surrounded by sun-loungers and head towards the fantastic pool house, such a superb and stylish space with a convivial wooden table and benches, lounging chairs and a gas plancha for al-fresco feasts, not to mention the poolside shower and WC – everything you need for a relaxing and joyful time.

It’s just a 300m stroll to the little village centre with its shop where you can pick up fresh bread and groceries. Other nearby villages are easily reached by car or bike such as Saint-Andiol and Mollégès, home to restaurants, a weekly market and further amenities. This area is great for keen walkers as well as cyclists with local roads passing orchards, plane trees, wild flowers and olive groves.

Only 12km away, artistic Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, so loved by Van Gogh, is one of the great draws of this region, especially on a Wednesday morning with its vibrant market, whilst a visit to picture-perfect Eygalières is also a must with its café terraces, beautiful stone houses and glorious views of Les Alpilles.

Further afield, spend time admiring the UNESCO World Heritage sites of Avignon, follow more of Van Gogh’s footsteps in Arles or Gordes, appreciate the beauty of the Sorgue on a canoeing or kayaking excursion from Fontaine-de-Vaucluse or potter around the Sunday morning brocante in L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue in this wonderful and diverse part of Provence.

This pretty villa is set in a residential area just outside a small village in the Bouches-du-Rhône department, 12km from the artistic town of Saint-Rémy-de-Provence and only 20km south-east of beautiful Avignon.

You can stroll to the local village for your morning bread in the grocery shop and there is also a micro-brewery producing locally crafted organic beers. Restaurants can be found in local villages such as Cabannes (4.5km), also home to a good-sized supermarket and a weekly market, and the charming village of Mollégès (5km), passing orchards, olive groves, wild flowers, plane trees and cypresses as you drive – this is also a great area for cycling and walking! There is a little market on a Wednesday morning in Mollégès whilst nearby Saint-Andiol (2.5km) is home to a pizzeria, butchers, small supermarket and a Friday morning market.

Eygalières (11km) also hosts a delightful Friday morning market although it is a gorgeous place to visit at any time of the week. Admire the superb vistas towards Les Alpilles from its hilltop position and potter around its old lanes of charming stone houses – no wonder some A-list celebrities have bought houses here.

Further south-west are the picturesque villages of Les Baux-de-Provence (22km), one of France’s ‘Plus Beaux Villages’, and Maussane-les-Alpilles (25km), known for its olive oil production. History and art lovers alike should visit Arles (38km), a town adored by Van Gogh and with a rich Roman heritage, also the gateway to the wonderful landscapes of the Camargue.

Closer to home, Saint-Rémy-de-Provence (12km) will enchant you with its artistic ambience and Wednesday morning market showcasing the very best seasonal produce and artisan crafts from across the region. Market lovers should also spend time in L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue (23km) on a Sunday morning with its famous brocante, or enjoy the natural beauty of the River Sorgue around Fontaine-de-Vaucluse (29km), loved for its hiking, canoeing and kayaking opportunities.Fr

It’s lovely to be able to stroll to the local village to practice your French whilst picking up your morning baguette. Alternatively, hire bikes as a great way to reach other local villages, passing farms, orchards, cypress trees and olive groves as you cycle.

Animal lovers will enjoy a trip to the nearby farm at L'Arche de Méo, just over a 5-minute drive away, where you can pet and feed the animals. Further south, around 45km by car, is the much-loved Zoo Barben.

If visiting Avignon for the day, look out for the little road train that tours you around the sights of the small city or hire bikes and cycle to the Rhône’s largest river island, île de la Barthelasse, where you can enjoy wonderful views of Avignon from the other side of the river.

Adventurous guests will love Fontaine-de-Vaucluse with its canoeing and kayaking opportunities as well as a tree-top activity centre just outside. Art-lovers meanwhile can follow the Van Gogh art trails in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence and Arles and visit Carrières de Lumières near Les Baux-de-Provence where artwork is projected onto quarry walls.
