Less than 5km from Gordes, this Provençal mas in the Luberon exudes elegance and character, set in the most beautiful landscaped gardens with olive and fruit trees, summer flowers, cypresses and herbs.
Embrace the timeless charm of Mas aux Herbes, a traditional farmhouse in the Luberon which has been renovated to create a stunning holiday abode for up to 14 guests. There’s a calming ambience across the living and dining space with its fireplace, grand piano, tiled flooring and pretty French windows allowing light to flood in. Meanwhile, modern amenities include air-conditioning, a Sonos sound system (with speakers also by the covered terrace) and an impressively equipped modern kitchen for the keenest of cooks.
The spacious en suite ground floor bedroom opens out to the courtyard garden with its trickling fountain whilst there are a further four double bedrooms upstairs, each one with its own bathroom (three en suite). The sixth and seventh bedrooms can be found in a garden annexe, each with their en suites and little terraces.
The vast grounds are simply idyllic. Enjoy relaxed meals on the covered terrace by the summer kitchen and barbecue, swim in the heated swimming pool or chill out on the surrounding sun loungers. The vine-covered pergola is another lovely spot for lunch on the long table overlooking the pool before strolling through the formal garden and joining in with a game of pétanque. In another hidden corner you will find the hot tub and ping-pong table – there really is something for everyone.
It's wonderful being only a short drive from Gordes, officially classified as one of France’s ‘Plus Beaux Villages’. Be inspired by Gordes’ picture-perfect hilltop setting with its medieval castle, art studios, restaurants and lovely weekly market on a Tuesday morning. You are also close to the authentic village of Coustellet with good shops, supermarkets, a Lavender museum and a Sunday morning farmer’s market.
Meanwhile, explore the landscapes of the Luberon as you pass olive groves, vineyards, dense forest and cherry orchards. Other iconic villages include Ménerbes and Roussillon, both within a 15-minute drive, or head away from the tourist trail as you discover the incredible scenery on hikes, horse-back tours and cycle rides.
Beyond the Luberon, visit the antique stores of L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, the daily farmers market in Velleron, the art galleries of Saint-Rémy and the UNESCO World Heritage sites of Avignon by the banks of the Rhône.
