Overview
Mas De Coteau is a charming home tucked away on the hillside near Murs. Surrounded by peaceful countryside with spectacular views out towards the Luberon hills, it’s an idyllic place to spend your holiday in Provence.
Recently renovated, it boasts a blend of modern amenities, sleek finishes and authentic touches. Outside you will find a traditional terracotta roof and blue shutters, whilst inside wooden beams and tiled floors run throughout the house. This is juxtaposed by contemporary art and the latest technology such as a picture frame TV, smart fridge and camera security system. There’s also a gym and mezzanine-level study with an Apple Mac.
Upstairs there are four lovely bedrooms, each with an en-suite bathroom and quality mattresses. One of the rooms looks out onto the hillside while others enjoy views facing the pool and the valley beyond. A fifth bedroom with a double bed and en-suite can be found on the ground floor, looking out onto the garden and pool.
The fantastic scenery encircling the villa can be best admired from the beautiful gardens, which are filled with shady trees and colourful flowers. Stretching out over 6 acres, the grassy lawns offer plenty of tranquil spots for relaxing and sheltering from the sun. The 10m heated pool is fenced off from the rest of the grounds and the poolside terrace, with its sun loungers and umbrellas, is a serene area to while away the day.
Picturesque Murs is just 3km away and worth a wander around for its 12th-century church, pretty main square and a glimpse of the impressive private chateau. There’s also a handy grocery store for stocking up on a few essentials.
The ancient village of Joucas has a restaurant and café as well as some tennis courts. Just 8km away, it also boasts great views from its hilltop perch.
Also nearby are Gordes and Roussillon. With its impressive church and castle and the famed lavender field of Senanque Abbey, Gordes is officially one of the Most Beautiful Villages in France, while Roussillon is packed with pretty ochre-coloured buildings. Both can be reached in under 20 minutes and are well worth a visit.
A 45-minute drive takes you to the city of Avignon, with its historic sites, lively market and buzzing atmosphere. Be sure to stop for a drink and enjoy some live music in the bohemian quarter by the River Sorgue.
