Overview
Seclusion, beauty, tranquillity, luxury and comfort are to be found at this beautifully renovated Provençal farmhouse with spacious tree lined gardens and views across to Les Alpilles. There is a pretty village only 2km away and it’s a short drive away from fashionable St-Rémy-de-Provence.
Life at Mas du Thym is centred around the luxurious pool with its bar, summer lounge, kitchen and barbecue where relaxing days can easily drift by swimming, sunbathing or sipping a cocktail. Take a break from family and friends to sit with a book on the terrace beside the house next to the colourful oleander or enjoy a seat beneath one of the old plane trees.
When the cool of the house draws you inside you will love its beautiful design of wood and stone and enjoy indulging yourself in all the modern comforts it has to offer. White walls create a sense of space and light and each room makes the most of the glorious gardens with the dining area and one bedroom leading straight out onto the pool terrace. In each room there is something pleasing to catch the eye such as the candelabra, colourful painting, four poster bed and special pieces of furniture.
When you are ready to leave your pastoral idyll, head towards your nearby pretty village for a peaceful restaurant lunch or stock up on fruit and cheese at its weekly market. Take a short drive to vibrant St-Rémy where artists display and sell their work each Sunday on the characterful Route des Artistes.
In Les Alpilles Natural Park there is plenty of opportunity for outdoor pursuits such as hiking, rock climbing, horse riding and mountain biking and some exquisite hillside villages such as Les Baux-de-Provence and Eygalières, each around a 20-minute drive away.
Take a look at the lavender fields and mountains of the Luberon region and visit Gordes, one of the most beautiful villages in France. Don’t forget to pay a visit to the wonderful cities of Arles, Avignon and Nimes despite the lure of your holiday home, pool, gardens and the beautiful countryside nearby.

Indeed, the surrounding hills of Les Alpilles provide a wonderful backdrop to an area renowned for its gloriously far stretching views of vineyards, Van Gogh cypresses, olive groves, orchards and golden summer swathes of sunflowers.
The village 2km away offers the chance for a quiet restaurant lunch, shopping at its weekly market, a game of tennis and a visit to the equestrian centre. It is a pretty village typical of the area where you will find plane tree lined roads with colourfully shuttered stone houses, gardens, narrow lanes and shady squares.
Nearby St-Rémy-de-Provence (7km) is where Vincent Van Gogh was inspired to paint his famous “Starry Night” and many artists still display their work each summer Sunday on the characterful Route des Artistes.
The biodiversity of Les Alpilles Natural Park is a delight for nature lovers and also offers rock climbing, hiking, mountain biking and horse riding along its many well marked trails. While you are visiting this region, don’t forget to visit a few of the exquisite hill top villages such as Eygalières (19km), much loved by celebrities, or Les Baux-de-Provence (15km) picturesquely perched on a rocky hillside.
The glorious landscapes of the Luberon region offer more opportunities for wonder and adventure with mountains, gorges, cliffs, vineyards, orchards, woods, lavender fields, caves and outstanding views, ideal for both serious hikes and gentle rambles. In the foothills of the Monts de Vaucluse, Gordes (40km) is one of the most beautiful hilltop villages in France with its white stone houses set into the mountain cliffs and hosting many cultural events during the summer.
Take a break from all this captivating serenity and head towards the lively city of Avignon (19km) where you will find winding medieval streets, UNESCO world heritage sites and covered, flower and flea markets offering all kinds of fascinating treasures.
Arles (26km), with its rich historical past, is also a fantastic place to visit and you may want to venture further towards the wild horses and pink flamingos of the Camargue Regional Park. Alternatively, Nimes (44km) is set between the sea and the Cevennes hills, which has a host of Roman remains as well as an attractive old town and gardens.
