Overview
Tucked away in the idyllic Provençal village of Le Barroux, a short drive from the charming town of Malaucène, the stunning holiday home and verdant grounds of Sous Les Arbes feels like walking into a painting by Paul Cézanne.
Upon entering this charming villa you’re welcomed by an expansive living and dining room, flooded with natural light and offering no shortage of comfy nooks to watch TV, read a book, or chat with your family and friends. Here on the ground floor you’ll find two thoughtfully designed bedrooms.
The open-plan kitchen connects with the living area and comes fully equipped with modern amenities. With the culinary inspiration of the surrounding Provençal countryside you’ll be at ease whipping up anything from a summer salad to a holiday feast.
Upstairs reveals two more distinctive bedrooms. The first is adorned with a double bed and private shower. The second comes complete with two single beds and an ensuite bath/shower. An additional WC is also located on this level.
As the villa’s name suggests, it is outside on the terrace and in the gardens where this holiday home comes into its own. The pool with its marvellous mosaic tiling couldn’t be more inviting. You’ll delight in dipping in and out of its cool turquoise waters in between games of table tennis and boules, or simply lounging in the pool house or on one of the various daybeds. Location
About the surrounding area of Sous Les ArbresLocated in a residential area just outside the historic village of Le Barroux, and only a 10-minute drive from the bustling town of Malaucène, this holiday home is ideally situated. Le Barroux itself boasts a spectacular 12th century castle originally built to keep Saracen and Italian invaders at bay.
This charming village is a joy to explore, and thanks to its traditional cafes, bakeries, restaurants and a grocery, it’s easy to slip into the flow of Provençal life. For those who like to get the heartbeat up, a looping hike called Départ Grande Randonnée de pays starts on the west side of the village. A 10-minute drive will also bring you to a larger supermarket.
The town and its surrounds produce Côtes du Ventoux AOC wine, a Rhône wine region drawing its name from the nearby Mont Ventoux. Benefitting from limestone and red tertiary alluvial soils, the terroir is known for producing varietals including Grenache, Syrah, Cinsault, Mourvédre, Clairette blanche, Bourboulenc and Roussanne, just to name a few. With such a rich viticultural history, there is no shortage of nearby wineries and vineyards at which to take a tipple of the local drop. Domaine Julline (10-minute drive), Domaine Morand (15-minute drive), and Domaine Frères Carme (15-minute drive) are all great options.
The nearby town of Malaucène is certainly worth a visit. Stroll under its century-old plane trees or watch cyclists depart from the town as they seek to ascend the northern face of the Giant of Provence (Mont Ventoux). Head to the gorgeous Groseau Spring to cool down after a day of exploring.

Peace and quiet
Very nice area. The house is wonderfully situated if you are looking for peace and quiet. Nestled in a narrow ravine, the "fencing" is only landscaped, there is only a fence to the road.

Perfectly located
Perfectly located for arriving from Avignon and discovering the Mont Ventoux valley. The estate is very well maintained and ideal for relaxation. We enjoyed the table tennis and petanque courts. Many thanks to for a wonderful vacation.
