Overview
Set within a gated mature garden with fruit and olive trees, this elegant and welcoming French maison welcomes up to 8 guests and is perfectly located for exploring so many wonders of Provence. The house is on the edge of a tiny Vaucluse village with a medieval château and stunning views towards Mont Ventoux, not far from Fontaine-de-Vaucluse, L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue and the landscapes of the Luberon.
Villa La Roque is beautiful – you can tell the owners work in interior design and floristry with their great eye for aesthetic detail. The living and dining area is stylish with modern features alongside classic furnishings whilst the attractive open-plan kitchen is superbly equipped. Pretty French windows open out to the terrace (made from local stone) and swimming pool.
Across the air-conditioned upper floor there are four bedrooms and four bathrooms, making Villa La Roque ideal for a family or small group of friends. Three doubles (two with king-size beds) feature an en suite with Italian shower, then there is a lovely twin and separate family bathroom. Everything has been designed so thoughtfully with character, charm and modern comfort in mind at all times.
The enclosed garden is such a wonderful place to relax – you will always be able to find a shady spot for your morning coffee or evening glass of rosé whilst the olive trees and swathes of summer lavender add to the Provençal ambience. The swimming pool is simply gorgeous and can be heated on request (for a supplement) during certain months. Who will be lucky enough to chill out on the rather elegant day bed?
As evening nears, enjoy a little stroll around the local village which is perched on a promontory with stunning vistas of the Vaucluse plains and famous Mont Ventoux. Saint Didier is just 4km away for small shops and restaurant terraces by the village’s plane trees or head to Pernes-les-Fontaines to spot as many fountains as you can and stock up on a wealth of delicious fruit and vegetables at the Wednesday evening Farmer’s market (this area is known for cherries, herbs, olives, strawberries, melons and more).
Elsewhere, visit the Sunday morning brocante in L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, canoe along the Sorgue River near Fontaine-de-Vaucluse, appreciate the lavender fields of Sault and admire the UNESCO World Heritage sites of Avignon. The captivating scenery of the Luberon is also close by – the perched village of Gordes is 22km by car.
Discover the gorgeous countryside by walking, hiking, mountain biking and horse-riding. Keen cyclists will be familiar with this region – the challenging ascent of Mont Ventoux starts in Bédoin, around 21km away, or follow simpler routes passing fruit orchards, vineyards, olive groves and other iconic landscapes of Provence.

Fly into Avignon Airport (32km), Marseille (78km) or Nimes (93km) whilst fast trains from Paris arrive at Gare d’Avignon TGV (38km).
You can walk to the little village in a few minutes – after admiring the medieval château dating back to the 11th century, take time to appreciate the stunning natural surroundings from lookout points (the village is perched on a rock) including vistas of Mont Ventoux. There are some lovely walking paths from the village as well as hiking, mountain biking and horse-riding nearby.
The nearest restaurants, a grocery store and bakery can be found in Saint Didier (4km), another pretty village with beautiful houses and gorgeous surroundings. The larger Pernes-les-Fontaines (7.5km) is a joy to explore with its many fountains, 17th to 18th century houses and atmospheric Saturday morning market. This region is known for its fruit and vegetable production – look out for melons, strawberries, cherries, peaches, olives, grapes, apples, pears and other seasonal delights. Other cycling routes up Mont Ventoux start from Malaucène (28km) and Sault (42km) – Sault is also loved for its lavender fields and distilleries.
L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue (14km) is a delightful town to visit with its pretty café terraces (some by the river), little antique stores and Sunday morning market including one of France’s most famous brocantes. Fontaine-de-Vaucluse (11.5km) is known for its incredible natural beauty, hiking trails and canoeing along the Sorgue River whilst there is a tree-top activity centre near Lagnes.
Avignon (34km) is another fantastic day out with its UNESCO World Heritage sites. You are also well located for reaching the captivating landscapes of the Luberon – Gordes and Ménerbes are just half an hour by car with Bonnieux and Roussillon just a little further.

You are well located for Avignon, Mont Ventoux, L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue and a range of activities for every age. What’s more, you are a short walk from an enchanting perched village and medieval château (which can be admired from the outside rather than visited).
Driving south, Fontaine-de-Vaucluse and Lagnes are around 20 minutes away for canoeing/kayaking along the Sorgue River and tree-top adventures at Passerelles des Cîmes.
The best house and best pool
We thoroughly enjoyed the house! And the welcome and care given to us by Delphine and Gerard were heartwarming.
We’ve stayed in 4 different houses so far in different parts of the Provence, and this is by far the best house and best pool: the perfect size. And we also really liked the region.
As we would say in Dutch: definitively "voor herhaling vatbaar". -
Everything and more
Our stay at Villa La Roque was everything and more that we had hoped it would be, and this feedback extending also to Gerard and Delphine for the warm and generous way they welcomed us and treated us whilst guests in their property. The house and garden / pool etc was very comfortable and also well equipped, enabling us to live as we would do in our own home. It was clean and the utensils and utilities etc provided were more than adequate. Gerard also recommended restaurants and places to visit, and such recommendations were always found to be good and worthwhile. The Vaucluse area is a truly beautiful place with magical discoveries to be made with every new village uncovered. The weather was fantastic, if only in the last few days a little too fantastic with the 44 degree heatwave that the area received. But again everything was wonderful. Our thanks to Gerard and Delphine for being great hosts, and to you for a very good and flawless organisation.

We had a great stay
We had a great stay at this villa with our daughters and their spouses. The house met our expectations very well. The welcome from the owners was very warm, they were able to show themselves present and available while remaining very discreet.

Perfect!
Already for the third time, we spent an unforgettable week in La Roque. The house is simply perfect, the friendly owners really care about their house and are always attentive to the tenants. The large bathroom has been renovated with charm. We had a great time on the pleasant terrace with a breathtaking view of its picturesque garden. The house really lacks nothing: fully equipped kitchen, plancha for the BBQ, plus it is decorated with care, you feel at home. The heated swimming pool offers pleasant moments, not only for children. Even the dog didn't want to leave the garden to go home.

Our stay at Villa La Roque went extremely well!
Our stay at Villa La Roque went extremely well! The house is just perfect for two families, very comfortable, good clean bathrooms, very well equipped kitchen and a well laid out garden where everybody could find some quiet. The boules court was also well appreciated. But number one have to be owners Gerard and Delphine. We have never before met hosts so charming and welcoming, and thanks to them we have discovered a lot of charming out-of-the way places!

We just loved everything about the house
I stayed at Villa La Roque with 3 friends. The house was easily able to hold 8 persons, so we had the luxury of plenty of space. It was exceptionally clean and well furnished with things we needed upon arrival. And the most amazing and gigantic bouquet of tulips, which graced our table all week, opening more and more each day. Hairdryers in each bathroom plus a washer/dryer were a huge plus for 4 women! The bathrooms were new and modern, the kitchen was very well stocked--we cooked every night! The caretaker was available but never intrusive. We did blow a fuse one day and he popped right over to fix it. He seemed eager to make sure we had a great time. In short, we just loved everything about the house!

We enjoyed our stay
We enjoyed our stay in Villa la Roque tremendously. It is a lovely Villa and we were welcomed with cold wine and a beautiful bunch of flowers. The caretaker was very informative re the surroundings and lovely day trips. The pool was a great hit with our group of 8 adults!

A wonderful stay
We had a wonderful stay in a house managed with a lot of love. The estate is impeccably maintained, and the owner is available to answer any questions. The spacious living room and kitchen offer enough space for eight people. The house is restored to pristine condition, and all kitchen utensils are provided, so there is no need to bring anything. The large swimming pool is heated up to 26 degrees, which allows you to relax pleasantly. Three of the four bedrooms have their own bathroom, in addition to two separate toilets and a large bathroom with toilet. The garage is fully equipped with a washing machine and dryer. We had a dog with us, who could move around freely as the property is completely fenced. The location of the house in a traffic-free area guarantees peaceful nights. The nearest bakery and shops are in the neighboring village, just a five-minute drive away. Many interesting places like Gordes, Roussillon and Fontaine-de-Vaucluse can be reached in 15-30 minutes by car. We highly recommend this house, whether for a family vacation or a stay with friends with a dog.

Magical!
Our family group ranged in age from 25 to 75 years and we all absolutely loved our stay at Villa La Roque. The house was perfect – smart, comfortable and very well equipped. The garden and pool were wonderful, and we enjoyed playing Pétanque in the late afternoons before dinner. We were very close to a lovely village, Saint-Didier, which had bakeries, shops and great restaurants. The area is unbeatable, with walks and drives in beautiful countryside and visits to gorgeous hilltop villages (especially on market days).Last, but certainly not least, we must thank our wonderful hosts who welcomed us so warmly (with wine in the fridge, a beautiful vase of white peonies on the table, and some bread on our first evening as the bakery was closed). They were there with any help or advice we needed but were the perfect hosts – friendly, helpful but discreet. We all look forward to returning to Provence and to Villa La Roque. It was a truly magical holiday!

We'll be back!
Thank you for arranging this wonderful place! Everything was great. The generously equipped very clean house with the large garden and pool gave us wonderfully relaxing vacation days. Everything is extremely lovingly designed, you immediately feel that wonderful people are working here in the background. The owners are the best landlords we have ever met on our travels. We were lovingly welcomed with joy and had lovely moments together during our stay. The area is lovely, you can hike, bike, explore markets, enjoy art and culture or just relax at home. We will definitely come back!
-
Great vacation!
We enjoyed our stay so much and the owners were extremely nice for helping and giving us information in case we needed them. The house was very nice and good equipped and we had a great vacation during this time!

Perfect
In short, our stay at Villa La Roque was perfect! The house is very comfortable, with a smart layout and well equipped. But it's the garden what we enjoyed the most! The peace, the aromas of the local herbs, the shadow spots for siesta and the pool of course, a perfect setting for a relaxing holiday. Gérard and Delphine are the most gracious hosts. Very responsive when we needed them and ready to help or provide advice on the local places (villages, restaurants and wineries) to visit. Big thanks to them! We absolutely loved our 2 weeks in the house, and I'd had happily stayed there the whole summer. A few more things worth mentioning: It's great that the price that was given was an all-in fee! I like simplicity, especially on holidays. So thanks for that. It's just annoying when you rent a house and then you get a separate bill for additional costs.. And the house was spotless. We had the cleaning ladies coming a few times during our stay and they were wonderful too: super efficient and kind. Looking forward to a next time at Villa La Roque!
-
We loved our stay
We loved our stay in Villa La Roque - the house, garden and pool are beautiful and everything we needed was provided. The caretaker was friendly, helpful and made us feel very welcome.
-
All in all, excellent week and hope we manage to come again!
We spent a relaxing and wonderful family week in Provence in Villa la Roque. The house is good, well equipped internally (rooms, devices...) and externally (pool...) and well maintained. Well positioned for different trips. The caretaker gives additional plus to the atmosphere. He is a very nice person, helpful but not at all interfering in the privacy. All in all, excellent week and hope we manage to come again!
-
A 5 star stay
This was a 5 star stay. Still thinking about what could be improved… but nothing comes to my mind. Thanks!
-
Merci
Planning and booking was top! Magnificent house, magnificent garden, magnificent pool, lovely landscape. And the caretaker, you simple have to like him: he is friendly, decent and accommodating. Best conditions for successful holidays! Danke, thank you, merci!
-
A lovely week
Thank you very much indeed for such a lovely week at Villa la Roque. We all enjoyed ourselves very much and we’re sorry we had to leave. The house was perfect in every way. Four nice bedrooms and bathrooms and downstairs was very well equipped. It had everything we needed and was very clean. We loved the pool and patio area and also enjoyed using the petanque court. But most of all thank you for your kindness and helpfulness. Meeting us, the wine and water in the fridge, sorting out the gas for the barbecue and cleaning the pool were just some of the many kindnesses. With many thanks from us all!
-
Everything was perfect
We had a wonderful holiday. Everything was perfect. We enjoyed the stay very much and we can imagine to come back next year!
