Overview
Enjoy the luxury of two stylish villas next door to each other, set amongst the idyllic vines of a beautiful Luberon vineyard owned by a famous Hollywood filmmaker. Below the perched village of Oppède le Vieux, each of the houses features its own gently heated swimming pool and picture-perfect garden, allowing these wonderful abodes to sleep up to 12 guests.
Across both houses guests can appreciate the homes’ contemporary style alongside a true sense of Provençal charm with elegant furnishings, chic décor, artwork and even the occasional prop from the owner’s illustrious career. Not to mention high-end features including air-conditioning throughout, Smart TVs and iPod docks. The grounds of the two homes are connected via a door in the garden wall.
Starting off at Villa Grenade, make the most of the spacious ground floor with two inviting lounges and a gorgeous open-plan kitchen-diner with doors opening out to the covered terrace and garden. Upstairs are three sumptuous bedrooms, all with king-size double beds and en suite bathrooms. Outside, the garden boasts the sights and scents of Provence with lavender, pines, cypress trees and views towards the Luberon hills alongside the glorious swimming pool.
Next door is Villa Pamplemousse, equally as attractive with its wood-beamed lounge, sleek kitchen and three en suite bedrooms, one of which is situated in a garden annexe. We love the summer kitchen and barbecue overlooking the olive trees in the pretty garden as well as Villa Pamplemousse’s own swimming pool. Imagine relaxing on one of the terraces with a glass of the estate’s aromatic wines as you soak up the calming ambience of this special place.
Indeed, you will have the opportunity to sample some of the domaine’s wines on your complimentary hour-long winery tour whilst the estate’s wine shop is only a short stroll away. The winery also showcases some of the owner’s iconic costumes and sets – such a unique experience in Provence!
Discover the local boulangerie, café, restaurants and a small grocery store in the nearby village, around 1.5km away, and drive up to the perched village of Oppède le Vieux with its enchanting ambience, rich heritage and incredible vistas.
Hilltop Ménerbes is also close by, a village full of charm and beauty made especially famous by Peter Mayle’s ‘A Year in Provence’ whilst other stunning villages of the Luberon include Gordes, Bonnieux and Roussillon. Look out for weekly markets, gastronomic restaurants, family-run wineries and a wealth of beautiful walks, hikes and cycle rides passing orchards, poppy fields, woodland and vineyards.
Other highlights of this part of Provence include L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue and Fontaine-de-Vaucluse or venture to Avignon for a fine day out exploring the city’s wine-bars, restaurants, bustling markets and two UNESCO World Heritage sites, Palais des Papes and Le Pont d’Avignon.
What you should know…
- Villa Pamplemousse and Villa Grenade consist of two separate villas next door to each other - there is a door in the garden wall connecting the grounds of the two houses. They otherwise each have their own private swimming pool and parking area.
- They can also be rented separately (see Villa Pamplemousse and Villa Grenade).
- The gorgeous Le Soleil D’Or is within the same wine estate, around 200m away.
- This villa is not suitable for children under the age of 12 – this is due to various reasons including the fact that there are works of art and unique furnishings/pieces across the home as well as the desire to create a calm ambience across the grounds.
- Please note the attentive Property Manager is usually on-site in her office (just across the road) on week days.

Region
With some of the most enchanting landscapes of Provence, the Luberon awaits with its idyllic perched villages, swathes of lavender, cherry trees, vineyards and dense forest.
Become captivated by the scenery as you potter around artistic Gordes with its atmospheric Tuesday morning market before heading to hilltop Ménerbes, the village that inspired Peter Mayle’s ‘A Year in Provence’. Romantic Bonnieux enjoys the most glorious vistas, surrounded by a sea of vines and orchards, whilst red-hued Roussillon will take your breath away with its ochre landscapes and pine forests. They are all officially classified as ‘Plus Beaux Villages’ in France.
Yet there are so many hidden gems to explore as well. Discover the historic doorways, windmills and summer cherries of Saint-Saturnin-lès-Apt, then head to Goult to embrace its Provençal charm with little shops and pavement cafes. Surrounded by fields of lavender, Saint-Saturnin-lès-Apt is another historic jewel of the Luberon, often overshadowed by the handsome and historic town of Apt.
To the south of the Luberon, follow Albert Camus’ footsteps in Lourmarin, sip coffee by the picturesque bassin lined with plane trees in Cucuron and soak up the history of Ansouis – all three villages have a fine reputation for their high-end dining with a choice of Michelin starred restaurants.
Indeed, across the region look out for restaurant terraces serving Provençal cuisine with superb vistas alongside characterful markets showcasing seasonal delights from the Luberon and beyond (olives, melons, strawberries, cherries, truffles, chestnuts, lavender products and more). Most villages host a lovely weekly market whilst the largest in the Luberon is held on a Saturday morning in Apt. Just on the edge of the Luberon, L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue is famed for its antique stores and Sunday morning brocante. Meanwhile, wine lovers should visit the vineyards and wineries of the region producing Luberon and Ventoux AOC wines.
The walking, hiking and cycling opportunities in the Luberon seem endless and you will also find horse-riding, rock-climbing and tree-top adventures as well as canoeing and kayaking along the Sorgue near Fontaine-de-Vaucluse. Come across hiking trails for all abilities passing vineyards and forest or venture through the hills and mountain gorges for spectacular scenery. Cycling is also extremely popular – as well as more challenging routes, we especially love the family-friendly Véloroute du Calavon, a paved voie verte following a former railway line near the Calavon river passing poppies, lavender and orchards so typical of the Luberon.
Kids
Best Suited For: TeensVilla Pamplemousse and Villa Grenade do not allow children under the age of 12.
Older children/teens can nevertheless appreciate the beautiful gardens and swimming pools alongside facilities within the two villas.
There are many wonderful walks and more challenging hikes to be enjoyed across the Luberon and beyond. Outdoor adventurists can also experience rock-climbing near Buoux, horse-riding close to Joucas and mountain biking across the landscapes. Discover canoeing and kayaking opportunities along the Sorgue near Fontaine-de-Vaucluse whilst there are tree-top adventure centres close to Lagnes (Passerelles des Cîmes) and Roussillon (Colorado Aventures).
Keen cyclists can hire bikes to admire the local scenery whether you wish to try challenging circuits or family-friendly trails. The Luberon is home to a lovely ‘voie-verte’ called La Véloroute du Calavon which follows a former railway line near the Calavon River from Beaumettes to Apt - the majority of the route is vehicle-free.
If visiting Avignon for the day, why not hire bikes and cycle over the bridge to explore the Rhône’s largest river island, île de la Barthelasse, where there are stunning views of the historic city from the other side of the river. There is also a tourist road train that tours the sights including Avignon’s two UNESCO World Heritage sites.
Other attractions between Avignon and Carpentras include the caves at Grottes de Thouzon, Wave Island waterpark and the popular theme park, Parc Spirou Provence. Heading south, Zoo Barben is less than an hour away by car, a great day out for animal lovers.

When did you become the owner?
1992.
Are there any interesting stories in its history?
Before the 19th century, the surrounding region, the ‘Comtat Venaissin’, belonged to the papacy and, at that time, the Mas was a place of healing, probably run by Italian nuns.
The first official mention of the Mas appeared on the land register of Napoleon in 1831. The estate then belonged to the General Baron Robert, one of the illustrious generals and surgeon or "health officer" of Napoleon’s army.
For anyone coming to stay, is there anything you suggest that they really...
Must do? See the art and light exhibition in the quarry at Les Baux-de-Provence.
Must eat? If you make a day trip to Marseille, then a real Bouillabaisse at Chez FonFon.
Must see? The views from the top of Mont Ventoux on a clear day - the road along the Gorges de la Nesque is the most amazing route there and back.
What insider tip would you pass on about the property or the area?
There are so many gorgeous little villages to explore, enjoy them by going earlier in the morning before the masses arrive so that after a wonderful lunch out, you can come back to the villa to enjoy the peaceful serenity in the garden and around the pool.

A fantastic stay!
A haven of peace nestled in the lands of the Luberon. We had a fantastic stay there, full of family memories, in a refined house conducive to relaxation. We were happy to meet the host who took great care throughout the stay. We will come back next year for sure!

Absolute perfection
Villa Grenade is absolute perfection! The location was quiet and peaceful yet conveniently close to the many beautiful surrounding villages, markets, shops & restaurants. The home was spotlessly clean, and the beds and linens were 5 star. The kitchen is large, chic and was very well equipped. All of the home’s furnishings were beautiful & comfortable and made the overall feeling of the house very light, airy and luxurious. The pool and outdoor living areas were all pristine and beautiful as well. My husband and I have rented many luxury homes in this area over the past fifteen years and Villa Grenade far exceeded all of the others. The winery, which is a part of the domaine is a short walk away and their wines were divine. Perhaps the best perk was that the property manager was so incredibly attentive and went above and beyond to make our stay so perfect! I highly recommend Villa Grenade!

Most wonderful, relaxing stay
We enjoyed the most wonderful, relaxing stay at Villa Grenade. The property has been exquisitely renovated to the highest standard. It’s well located for exploring many beautiful villages and is an easy drive to nearby shops. The adjacent winery is a must visit and a short walk from the house. The Property Manager is incredible attentive and helpful. We very much hope to return soon.

Unparalleled luxury and tranquility
Our family enjoyed this true gem that offers an unparalleled experience of luxury and tranquility. The idyllic location, exquisite interiors, large and well-equipped kitchen as well as the private pool made this home an ideal quiet holiday retreat where we could disconnect from the noise of everyday life. The property manager deserves a special mention for her attentive and friendly service. From providing local recommendations to ensuring the villa is well-maintained, her dedication added a personal touch to our stay, making us feel welcomed.

Complete joy
This property is even lovelier in person, we had an amazing stay. The property manager who welcomed us (and continued to look after us) was heaven. We were even spoiled with some local produce and wine on arrival. It's a beautifully decorated and kept place with everything you could possibly need. Unbelievably comfortable beds and big spacious showers. Everyone we encountered, like the cleaners, were so sweet and friendly. It was a complete joy being there and we were so sad to leave.
