Location
About the surrounding area of Villa BasilVilla Basil is set on a lovely tranquil hillside surrounded by breathtaking nature, nestled amongst olive trees and facing the glittering Ionian Sea. All highlights of this magical island can be reached within an hour by car as the island is only 39 miles in length.
Villa Basil is close to Pentati which has a population of around 300 and is a lovely example of a traditional Greek village. You can slow down to a truly authentic experience picking up everyday provisions and fresh local products from the well-stocked minimarket or sample a wonderful traditional restaurant where you might even be welcomed into the kitchen to see what’s cooking!
You can take a long walk or short drive along the coastal road to the splendid Agios Gordios Beach, one of the most popular beaches in Corfu. It took its name from the Church of Agios Gordios which is located literally on the sea, at the centre of the beach. This beautiful cove is nestled amongst the lush green mountain and surrounded by olive groves, vineyards and rocks. A huge rock, the Ortholithi, emerges from the sea. Agios Gordios offers a stunning landscape and a good choice of bars, restaurants, tavernas and supermarkets. It is no surprise that Agios Gordios is so popular.
Further south is Chalikounas Beach with its sensational, golden sands, the crystal clear deep blue waters of the Ionian Sea and the natural beauty of the protected Lake Korission. The beach enjoys a few beach tavernas and organised sections with sun loungers and umbrellas. There is a kite club in the middle section of the beach where you can learn to kitesurf. Visitors enjoy strolling along the 2.5 km beach or ambling around the glistening Lake Korission. The lake is a coastal lagoon separated from the sea by the fabulous Chalikounas Beach. The lake is home to native and migrating birds including seagulls, owls, buzzards, swallows and if you are lucky flamingos.
18km from the property, Corfu Town is one of the most attractive old towns of Greece and well worth a visit. Falling between two great Venetian coastal fortresses, it is a maze of cobbled narrow streets opening out onto elegant mansions, magnificent palaces, beautiful squares and no fewer than thirty-nine churches including the beautiful Church of Saint Spiridon. The entire Old Town is declared a UNESCO World Heritage site and is a tightly-packed warren of cobbled winding lanes bursting with lively bars, boutiques and fine restaurants. You will discover shops and stalls selling local items such as wild honey, fig cakes and handmade lace. There are also some interesting museums including the Byzantine Museum of Corfu which is housed in a 15th-century church. Others are the Museum of Ceramic Art, the D Solomos Museum and the Asian Art Museum.
Golf lovers are well catered for at the renowned 18-hole par 72, Corfu Golf Club in the lush Ropa Valley only a short drive up the coast towards Pelekas. Equipment rental is available.

Amazing!
We are so happy that we found this place! Had a buisness trip to Corfu but decided to combine work with leisure for a couple of days. I loved relaxing with a nice view, there are beautiful olive trees all around the house and what was the most surprising - a heated pool. Amazing! The staff was very kind and made sure that I had a good wifi for work. All rooms have an amazing sea view. I slept very well and in the morning enjoyed a good cup of coffee because there was a coffee machine. Definitely coming back!
