Overview
The exclusive Kommeno peninsula was once a favoured retreat for jetsetters and royalty. Now it is one of the most popular spots on the island where guests can enjoy Venetian and English colonial influences and its gorgeous natural setting. It boasts fabulous panoramic views of the Bay of Gouvia with its emerald sea and the rooftops of the Old Town of Corfu. You will discover beautiful gardens along the water’s edge, pastel coloured villas in the colours of flaming Ionian sunsets, royal pavilions and imperial palazzos, all snugly embraced by scented pine groves.
Villa Kommeno Nero is nestled on this hillside within the private grounds of a medieval fortress which is floodlit during the evening, offering an amazing ambience. The nearest beach is withing easy walking distance and accessible via a footpath by the main entrance of this upmarket gated community. It will take just 3 minutes and you can be sunning yourselves and relaxing.
The villa offers four spacious bedrooms, stunning grounds and a wonderful swimming pool. The kitchen is modern with a huge array of wooden units, gorgeous granite worktops and excellent appliances. There is a separate, handy utility room. The living room enjoys cream highly polished floors, comfortable traditional leather sofas and stylish wrought iron furniture. Guests can enjoy full Sky channels on the large television as well as some UK channels. The open plan living space leads to a delightful, shaded alfresco dining terrace. Villa Kommeno has been a much loved second family home to its British owners for many years and has been wonderfully cared for.
The four bedrooms are comprised of two masters with kingsize beds and ensuite bathrooms that enjoy showers and baths and two bedrooms with twin beds. These twin rooms boast delightful garden views and share a family bathroom with a shower. One of the master bedrooms also boasts a large verandah.
Though the villa is very comfortable, guests are likely to spend most of their time in the tropical paradise outside. The garden is brimming with splendid, beautiful trees and plants as well as stunning, colourful foliage. The large horizon swimming pool is surrounded by patio areas and lush lawns sprinkled with top notch furniture. There might be a race for the large hammock that sits by the pool to enjoy the peace and tranquility as well as the stunning views. There is a stone dining table and a beautiful seating area in the garden, a lovely lunch spot, as well as a shaded table on the large balcony. Guests can enjoy delicious meals from the stone built barbecue. Villa Kommeno Nero is a fabulous choice for those that adore views and beautiful gardens.

Location
About the surrounding area of Villa Kommeno NeroThe secluded Kommeno Bay is halfway up of Corfu’s eastern Ionian coast, just 20 minutes from the buzzy Corfu Town. The quiet private roads on the peninsula give you a feeling of remoteness though the bustling, vibrant beach bars of Dassia and Gouvia’s 18th century Venetian architecture are only 10 minutes away. It boasts some of the most coveted shoreline in Corfu.
Gouvia is a small, charming, former fishing village which is now a modern holiday resort with plenty of amenities. It enjoys a pretty pebble beach and a stunning marina. There are many atmospheric restaurants, bars and cafes along the main street of the village. Its 18th century shipyard is still remarkably intact. The views from Gouvia are really stunning with the sparkling Ionian Sea and Corfu Town on the horizon. If you travel a little further, you can enjoy a family outing to Aqualand, the massive water park in the middle of Corfu. You can also visit the famous Durrell White House in Kalami and the very charming Kouloura Bay.
Corfu is one of the most beautiful, lush green islands of Greece. With countless beaches, stunning scenery stretching from the crystal clear dazzling sea to the mountains, it is a dream destination. Together with fantastic cuisine, excellent shopping and a historic main town brimming with Venetian architecture and charm, it has something for everyone.
The beautiful, atmospheric resort of Kassiopi is located in the lively north eastern corner of Corfu. With the dramatic Mount Pantokrator overlooking the resort and with a stunning harbour, this once quiet fishing village is very popular and very attractive. It boasts charming narrow streets overlooked by the ruins of an ancient Byzantine castle and breathtaking views out to sea towards the Albanian coast. There is a gorgeous walk you can take around the headland.
Corfu Town or Kerkyra as it is otherwise known, is one of the most beautiful, graceful and elegant towns in Greece. Though seventh in size, it is one of the most populated in the whole of the Ionian Islands. The town’s stunning architecture has many influences including Sicilian, Venetian, French and English. Corfu Town is brimming with elegant mansions, magnificent palaces, beautiful squares, no fewer than 39 churches and majestic fortresses. You should not miss The Liston and the Church of Saint Spiridon. The entire Old Town is declared a UNESCO World Heritage site, a tightly-packed warren of winding lanes bursting with lively bars, unique shops and fine restaurants. You will also see timeless alleys with the day’s washing stretching from balcony to balcony. It is beautiful.
There is so much to see and do on Corfu. Corfu has over 120 beaches in total, a few hundred villages, nearly a thousand churches, a significant mountain range, valleys, waterfalls and forests as well as more than 3 million olive trees, three lagoons and numerous caves. The fauna and flora is world famous due to the Durrell family and especially since the TV series.

Family entertainment on Corfu is endless. There are many beaches to choose from, from hidden, quiet coves to magnificent, highly organised stretches of sand with a huge array of watersports. Some of the best East oast beaches besides Barbati are Agios Ioannis Peristeron, Perama, Dassia, Ipsos, Agni, Kouloura and Kalami. Kalami is the village where Lawrence Durrell lived in the 1930’s. It is now a small resort with several tavernas including the White House, where the Durrells lived. On the North coast, Kassiopi, Acharavi and Roda are very popular.
Children love Aqualand, Corfu’s water park. It is just the place for a thrilling day out. The park caters for all ages and boasts a lazy river, wave pool, kayaking, rafting and extreme slides such as the Double Twister, Kamikaze and the Hurricane Twist.
For a completely different, non-water based day you could head to the majestic Mount Pantokrator. It is the highest peak in Corfu and a popular pilgrim spot. It boasts the most amazing views of the whole of Corfu Island. On a clear day you can even see Albania and Italy even though Italy is 130km away!
In Corfu Town, children enjoy climbing the walls of the Old Fortress, the Venetian fort built in the 15th century and the New Fortress. The fortresses boast fantastic views of the turquoise waters. Also in Corfu Town, you can take a trip in Kalypso Star, the glass-bottomed boat that leaves the harbour to explore the Ionian Sea’s fascinating marine life. A 10 minute boat trip from Corfu Town takes you to the tiny island of Vidos where you can enjoy feeding the rabbits, seeing the peacocks, swimming and having lunch at the charming taverna.
