Villa Sage is a wonderful luxury retreat, hidden amongst olive trees and facing onto the glorious Ionian Sea and dramatic mountainous coastline. You are in for a treat exploring this magical island and all highlights can be easily reached by car within an hour as the island is only 39 miles in length. Villa Sage is close to Pentati, a typical small Greek village, which has a population of around 300 people. Strolling through cobbled streets, you can pick up fresh local products from the well-stocked minimarket or sample authentic Greek cooking at one of the small local restaurants.

A short drive along the scenic coastal road leads to the Agios Gordios Beach, one of the best beaches on Corfu and a ‘go to’ destination for many travellers. Agios Gordios took its name from the Church of Agios Gordios which is located literally on the sea, at the centre of the beach. Nestled amongst the lush green mountains, this beautiful cove is surrounded by olive groves, vineyards and rocks. A huge rock, the Ortholithi, emerges from the sea. Agios Gordios offers 1.2 metres of golden sand, a stunning landscape and a good choice of bars, restaurants, tavernas and supermarkets.

Further south along the coast, you can find the wonderful Chalikounas Beach. With soft golden sands stretching for 2.5 km and crystal clear waters, there are a few beach tavernas and organised sections with sun loungers and umbrellas. A big attraction to this area is Lake Korission which is a coastal lagoon separated from Chalikounas Beach by the sea. The Lagoon is a place of natural beauty and is a bird watcher's delight being home to native and migrating birds including seagulls, owls, buzzards and swallows. If you are lucky you might spot a flamingo within its 5 km long shores.

Corfu Town is one of the most attractive old towns in Greece and well worth seeing. Falling between two great Venetian coastal fortresses, it is a tightly-packed warren of cobbled winding lanes bursting with lively bars, boutiques and fine restaurants. You will discover shops and stalls selling local items such as wild honey, fig cakes and handmade lace. The small streets open out onto elegant mansions, magnificent palaces, beautiful squares and no fewer than thirty-nine churches including the beautiful Church of Saint Spiridon. The town’s architecture has many influences including Sicilian, Venetian, French and English and is vibrant and colourful and the entire Old Town has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage site. Culture vultures will find interesting museums including the Byzantine Museum of Corfu which is housed in a 15th-century church. the Museum of Ceramic Art, the D Solomos Museum and the Asian Art Museum.

Reviews

  • Very peaceful and quiet!

    on 25/04/2023

We really liked our short stay. We were in Corfu for our friends wedding and we wanted a quiet and nice place to stay. We slept very well - the location was very peaceful and quiet, and it was great to wake up to beautiful sea view every morning. The villa itself was wonderful. It seemed brand new, had massive windows from ground to the top, a heated pool (which came really in handy in cold winter evenings!) The amenities were great (bathrobes, slippers, fancy toiletries, etc. provided) Staff was kind and attentive - double checked with us if everything is ok or if we need anything.

  • 10/10

    on 01/04/2023

It was a great stay! Villa was super nice. Very comfortable and relaxing. Style was so modern and it was the first time that I've stayed in such a brand new villa. We took many beautiful photos. View was the best that I've seen in all my life! Definitely coming back!

  • Loved everything!

    on 15/02/2023

Short but very good stay. I loved everything from the villa to staff. Cleaning ladies came when we needed help, and communication was easy. Entrance with the code. Very good and modern twist. We had our private pool and morning swim with sea views is like you are in a movie. Highly recommend!
