Villa Teal Blu enjoys a superb location in Afra, just minutes from Corfu Town. It boasts wonderful mountain views and is within easy reach of numerous sandy beaches. The nearby Kontokali peninsula is a magical spot, four kilometres south of Corfu Town and north of Gouvia. Kontokali is named after Christophoros Kontokalis, a sea captain and shipowner who was awarded the estate by the Venetians after his successful participation in the Battle of Lepanto.

Corfu Town is one of the most beautiful, graceful and elegant towns in Greece. It is a very modern capital, sitting between two great Venetian coastal fortresses and boasting elegant mansions, magnificent palaces, beautiful squares and no fewer than thirty-nine churches including the beautiful Church of Saint Spiridon. The Duke of Edinburgh was born at the fabulous Mon Repos Palace. Next to the palace gardens, you will find the calm waters of Mon Repos Beach. To the north, you will discover Faliraki Beach. The nearest beach to the villa is Alykes Potamou, just north of Corfu Town. It enjoys fine sand and a very shallow sea, perfect for families. Corfu Town’s stunning architecture has many influences including Sicilian, Venetian, French and English. The entire Old Town is declared a UNESCO World Heritage site, a tightly-packed warren of cobbled winding lanes bursting with lively bars, boutiques and fine dining restaurants. You can explore timeless alleys adorned with colourful bougainvillaea. There are many interesting museums including the Byzantine Museum of Corfu which is housed in a 15th-century church, the Museum of Ceramic Art, the Archaeological Museum, the Serbian Museum, the Solomos Museum and the Asian Art Museum.

North of Corfu Town is The White House in Kalami, best known as the former residence of British author, Lawrence Durrell. Lawrence lived at the house in the 1930s with his wife Nancy. Their Kalami home was regularly visited by his family including the young Gerald Durrell who later became a leading conservationist and popular author. You can visit The White House which has been owned by the Atheneos family for generations for a holiday experience about literary history, Greek hospitality and fresh seafood! The village of Kalami is surrounded by the turquoise waters of the Ionian Sea, a beautiful peaceful spot.

Gouvia is a charming, former fishing village which is now a modern holiday resort with plenty of amenities for all ages. It boasts a pretty pebble beach and a stunning marina. It also offers many atmospheric restaurants, bars and cafes along the main street of the village. Its 18th-century shipyard is still remarkably intact. The views from Gouvia are really stunning with the sparkling Ionian Sea and Corfu Town on the horizon. Vidos Island was once known as Corfu’s Alcatraz. Now it is home to wild rabbits and is very popular for its secluded beaches.

Children adore Aqualand, Corfu’s water park. It is very popular for a thrilling day out boasting a wonderful combination of fun, relaxation and adrenaline. The park enjoys a three hundred and fifty-metre long lazy river, a wave pool, an interactive pool with a rope course and jacuzzi, kayaking, families rafting and extreme slides such as the Double Twister, Catapult, the twelve-metre high Kamikaze slides and the Hurricane Twist. In total there are over fifty attractions to enjoy. For the very young ones, there is a baby pool, a pirate area and the kid's fantasy island. You can buy a half day pass, a full day pass, a two day pass or a weekly one.

The majestic Mount Pantokrator is the highest peak in Corfu and dominates the island’s northeast region. It boasts the most amazing views of the whole of Corfu Island. On a clear day, you can even see Albania and Italy even though Italy is one hundred and thirty kilometres away! You can drive or hike to the mountain top, stopping at traditional Greek villages on the way. The zigzagging mountain road starts halfway between Ipsos and Barbati Beach passing through Spartilas and Strinilas, one of the island’s highest villages. You can enjoy delicious local moscato wine from one of the village’s taverns. If you want to hike to the top you can start at the 14th-century village of Old Perithia. It is a three hour round trip through thick forests, olive groves and rocky terrain. At the top you can visit the 17th-century monastery.
