There are three bedrooms spread across the floors all featuring a queen size bed and en-suite. The outdoor space is equally inviting, with a traditional outdoor oven and BBQ for al fresco dining, as well as sun loungers by the pool. For those who prefer a little extra comfort, the pool can be heated on request. - You can get the occasional power cut in Crete but fortunately the Atlantica Caldera Villas benefit from their own generator which kicks in immediately if there’s an outage.

Location
About the surrounding area of Caldera Villa IIIPlatanias, owing its name to the river which in legendary Homer's time was called the "Lardanos", is a lively seaside resort located at just 11 km west from Chania.
If the new town bustles with waterfront bars, clubs, restaurants, hotels and incredibly sandy beaches, the hillside old part known as Ano Platanias is still steeped in history and tradition.
Together with the close by Agia Marina, this is for sure one of the most popular areas on the island, able to offer unforgettable holiday experiences to families with children, couples and groups of friends alike.
A visit to Chania, which also hosts an airport, is also recommended. The city, that has seen many civilisations come and go over thousands of years of settlement, from Minoans to Romans, Byzantine to Ottoman, this rich history has carved out a unique and mysterious town.
Most of the restaurants, museums, churches and craft shops centre around the gorgeous Venetian harbour, which represents a window into the past Turkish and Venetian architecture that has otherwise largely been destroyed by war. Watching the sunset past the old lighthouse is a truly unmissable experience, but the area offers a different picturesque aesthetic at any given time of day.
The dramatic, mountainous interior of Crete is also well worthy of exploration, remaining unspoilt and largely unchanged for hundreds of years. Incredible churches, and sleepy little villages are hidden round every bend as you wind your way across the sun baked landscape.
Be sure to sample the fresh fish they pull in from the harbour each day, or even take a boat out and do some fishing or snorkeling yourself!

Region

How to reach Chania
There are two ways to reach Chania: either by flight or by ferry.
By plane: Chania Airport (CHQ) is only a 20 minutes ride away from central Chania. During the summer months, frequents overseas and domestic flights are performed. In most of the cases, there are available buses that connect Chania city and most of the villas. You can also hire a car from one of the many rental companies at the airport, or alternatively get a taxi to bring you right to your doorstep.
By ferry: If you choose to do an island-hopping trip and use the ferry as a method of transportation, then the closest port is in Souda, only 8km from the centre of Chania. Only ferries from Piraeus in Athens or Heraklion in Crete. Heraklion port has a wider choice: you can also take a ferry from other Greek islands like Santorini, Mykonos or Paros, but you will have to take a longer bus ride to reach your villa. Cots and high chairs are available on request and can be placed in the bedrooms. The pool can also be heated for an additional cost, upon request.
The villa is located in the resort village of Platanias, within walking distance of the beach, bars, and restaurants. There are several nearby activities for children, such as watersports at Agia Marina Beach, exploring the ancient ruins at Aptera, and hiking to the hilltop Byzantine castle with views of the ocean.

Fabulous Family Holiday
We’ve just come back from a fabulous week at Atlantica Caldera Villa. In short it’s a great place for a family friendly holiday – we were my wife and I, two kids (1 and 3) and the in-laws.
Highlights: extremely spacious, fully air-conditioned, very clean/new/easy, indoor/outdoor pool (fun for the kids), huge bedrooms (all en-suite), mid-stay cleaning (including replacement bedding and towels), when the DVD player broke it was replaced within 2 hours! Just a five minute walk to a beautiful beach (and an excellent beachside restaurant), MANY MANY restaurants to choose from. 20 minutes from Chania which is well worth seeing for the harbour area (you can also do boat trips from here which are great value and lots of fun). You’re only 30 minutes from Chania airport.
Lowlights: Make sure you’ve got an accurate location for the property as it’s not easy to find without the sat nav, if you’re looking for sea views from the terrace then this isn’t the place for you, the washing machine is in a separate neighbouring building (not an issue but worth mentioning), it hit 40 degrees during our stay!
