Situated on the rocky coastline of the Akrotiri peninsula with views across Chania Bay, Villa Zorba is a contemporary waterfront property offering high-end accommodation in a private and scenic location. Villa Zorba comprises four-bedroom suites and two indoor living areas, one of which can serve as an additional bedroom. The villa also features multiple terraces and balconies, landscaped outdoor areas, a heated infinity pool, and a direct path to the sea. A garden with a lawn provides additional space to relax, while large windows ensure that the interiors are filled with natural light and uninterrupted sea views. The layout and design reflect the owner's affinity with the sea, with three of the four bedrooms and both living areas oriented toward the bay.
The ground floor includes the main living space, furnished in a minimalist style with leather seating, a television, a Bose sound system, and direct access to the terrace. The kitchen is equipped with modern appliances and a central island, complemented by an exposed stone wall and a designer dining table. One bedroom suite is located on this level, offering access to the terrace and a wellness-style shower.
The upper floor contains the second living area, which includes a television, PlayStation 3, and a selection of books. This space can be converted into an additional bedroom using sofabeds and a sliding wooden partition. Three more bedroom suites are located on this level, all with sea views. Two of the rooms face the sea directly, one of which features a freestanding bathtub and another with a wellness shower separated by a glass brick wall. The third bedroom overlooks the sea, the surrounding landscape, and the White Mountains and includes a king-size bed and a uniquely designed wellness shower. An additional guest bathroom is also available on this floor.
Outdoor spaces are extensive and thoughtfully designed, including multiple terraces, a 50 sqm heated infinity pool with a shallow section for children, pergola-covered dining and lounge areas, sunbathing zones, and a designated relaxation space along the path to the sea. Outdoor audio is supported by the Bose system with Bluetooth connectivity. A barbecue area is available, and the welcome basket includes local spirits. For guests interested in wellness, the villa offers a range of fitness equipment, including adjustable weights, a bench, and yoga mats.

What you should know…
- Please take good care of young children on the rocky pathway to the sea and please do not let them head off without supervision
- The second living space can be shut off and used as an extra bedroom using the quality sofabeds if you have extra beds. There is even an extra guest bathroom next door!
- If you are heading into Chania for dinner, it is best to pre-book a dinner table though there are also plenty of walk-ins

Location
About the surrounding area of Villa ZorbaVilla Zorba enjoys a premium location next to the sea in Tersanas, set within a secluded, rocky landscape. It is one of the few villas in this area with direct sea access. Within a few minute’s drive, you can visit one of Tersana’s tavernas for a healthy and tasty local Cretan feast. Tersana Beach enjoys two taverns, loungers, parasols and lovely fine sand. At the top of the hill, you will find the village of Chorafakia with its shops, bars, restaurants and cafes. Next door, is the beautiful beach of Kalathas, another Cretan wonder sprinkled with palm trees, loungers and parasols. There are several tavernas serving delicious traditional Cretan specialities and lots of seafood. A wonderful array of watersports are available.
Opposite Kalathas is a small island which you can easily reach by swimming. Marathi boasts two beaches, separated by a small pier. They are well protected from the winds and boast impressive views to Drapanos Cape and the White Mountains. Again there is a small island which can be reached by swimming with a small pine wood. The western coast of it is popular with scuba divers. Seitan Limania Beach, on the east coast of the Akrotiri peninsula, is one of Crete’s most gorgeous hidden secrets. It is nestled in a canyon leading out to sea with cliffs either side and the finest white sand reaching out to turquoise waters that turn to the deepest blue as it joins the sea. It is stunning! You can take a boat trip to see this sensational beach. Close by, there is also Stavros Beach where ‘Zorba the Greek’ was filmed in 1964. If you have seen the film you may recognise the memorable scene where Quinn’s character dances the Sirtaki! For an amazing trip out, you could hire a boat to head over to the famous Balos Beach. The peninsula is home to many beautiful, ancient monasteries such as the 16th century Gouverneto Monastery and the 17th century Agia Triada Monastery.
Chania Old Town is a must. It is utterly gorgeous with unique shops, a brilliant dining scene, trendy bars serving cocktails and its famous harbour. The old Venetian harbour offers a phenomenal location for romantic strolls and dinner. It was originally built by the Venetians between 1320 and 1356 and is now a vibrant, cosmopolitan spot. The Egyptian lighthouse is much photographed, especially at sunset. You can take a slow meander to the lighthouse to take in the stunning views of the harbour, Old Town with the majestic White Mountains in the background. On the waterfront, the Giali Tzamisi is the oldest Muslim building in Crete. The Turkish name is translated to ‘The Seaside Mosque’. It plays host to various cultural events and exhibitions.
Following the Minoan Palace of Knossos, the second most visited tourist attraction in Crete is the dramatic Samaria Gorge which is 55km from the villa. It is the longest gorge in Europe and definitely worth the drive. Within the White Mountain’s National Park, it rises to an altitude of 1,230m, is 150m at its widest point and 3m at its narrowest and continues down to Agia Roumeli on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea. The park and gorge offer protection to over four hundred and fifty species of plant and animal, of which seventy are endemic to Crete.

Best Suited For: All AgesVilla Zorba is an absolutely brilliant choice for a family holiday. Though children may not appreciate its amazing architecture and pure beauty, the villa is very spacious and the infinity pool with its children’s section is excellent. The second living space is an ideal den with television and Playstation and plenty of games. Children also love the path that leads to the sea though they should not head there alone and need to take care.
Tersanas Beach is wonderful for families, as is the nearby Kalathas Beach where you will find some watersports. Many of the other local beaches are also excellent and family friendly. It is not so easy to walk down to the amazing Seitan Limania cove with young children but otherwise they are all very well organised for families. On the south coast of the peninsula, Loutraki and Marathi Beaches are very safe for children and are sheltered from the wind
Lake Kournas is Crete’s largest freshwater lake and is fed by natural springs running off the Lefka Ori mountains. The water is 22m at its deepest and is a stunning turquoise colour. It is an excellent excursion with pedalos, lots of geese and terrapins and plenty of tavernas nearby. Close by is the Kanakis Olive Mill where you can learn all about the production of olive oil. You can taste the oil in the shop and pick up some souvenirs. You should also take a photograph with the 2000 year old olive tree outside. Another trip fairly close to Chania is the Minoan Palace of Knosses. It is known as Europe’s first city and dates from the Bronze Age.
Minoan’s World 3D Museum and 9D Cinema in Chania Town is popular. It is an immersive cinema where you can learn about the Minoan history while enjoying effects such as earthquakes and snow, bubbles and wind. There are many photo opportunities with murals in the background. The movie stars Zeus as a baby and as a God, abductions, flying too close to the sun and an eruption of the volcano in Santorini causing a devastasting tsunami that ended the Minoan era.
Limnoupolis is a fun water park close to Chania boasting eleven exciting waterslides such as 100m giant slides, free fall slides, a black hole and triple twist slides, a kid’s pool and an artificial island. It also boasts a relaxing 130m lazy river, a huge swimming pool with a diving platform, a kiddie pool and a relaxation area.

Beyond Words
This place is beyond words! Whatever you see in the photos and on the reviews cannot do justice to how amazing this place is! From the moment you pull up to the calm surrounding grounds, to opening the front door to be greeted with the breathtaking view of the ocean, to being constantly surrounded by an abundance of space, comfort and bliss for this beautiful villa; every moment here was perfect for us. Elain was always on hand and always a delight when helping us out with anything we felt we needed - but truth be told, we pretty much had everything we needed. Waking up to the view and the sound of the ocean made the start to every day absolutely perfect. Would add this villa to any bucket list! A memorable time, extremely thankful

Excellent Villa
This is an excellent villa for a family holiday, although quite secluded, there are some restaurants in the area which you could walk to if necessary or local taxis are available too. The facilities are first class in every respect, from rooms to outside space it most certainly has the wow factor with views to die for. Our whole holiday experience was amazing and we could not have wished for better. Our 3 kids and their partners hired Stefanas the chef and his wife as a treat for us all which was fantastic with amazing food and also Claudia the masseuse who spent the day giving massages to all adults. This place was heaven on earth for us all, 8 adults and two grandchildren who will have wonderful memories of our family holiday.
