Overview
The delightful island of Crete is a holiday haven and Villa Kallos is perfectly poised to be your sanctuary during your stay. A new luxury villa, welcome to an elite way of living as you recuperate and relax on this most spellbinding of islands. Renowned for its hospitality and warmth, Crete makes for the perfect adventure and you’ll be able to soak in the sensational sunset views over the bay of Chania whilst having easy access to the western side of the island.
Villa Kallos could be described as lofty perched as it is high up on inland, but it’s also a mere 800 meters from the incredible Cretan coast. Location-wise, think sleepy and serene, as you nestle away in an area renowned for its traditional Greek way of living. You’re also on the doorstep of many sandy beaches and mysterious hidden coves so relaxing and exploring is not far out of reach.
You enter the property through a private and remote-controlled electric gate ensuring discretion upon arrival. With parking available for several vehicles and two shaded pergola areas, you can then head into the interior of the property. Airy, light, spacious and elegant, you’ll enjoy this gorgeously understated property which is the height of sophistication. There’s a real sense of the outside being inside in this property with the large panes of glass allowing those views to seep into your space.
Suitable for a group of six, the villa spans two floors and includes three comfortable double bedrooms, a large infinity swimming pool which will naturally become the centrepiece of your stay and a beautiful shaded outdoor dining and BBQ area for those seeking to embrace an al fresco way of life. You can sit and revive on one of the many luxury sunbeds or designer lounge chairs.
The master bedroom comes complete with a king-size bed, en-suite shower room and access to both shared and private balconies which you can access through sliding terrace windows, allowing for all that welcoming light. The second bedroom also contains a king-size bed, an en-suite shower room and a private balcony. This room can easily be converted into a space for two single beds. From a simple staircase, you can access the living room and the pool. One more double bedroom also with its own en-suite shower room can be located on the property.
A great selling point of the villa is its numerous balconies and terraces which allow you to sneak sips of sunshine and views of the gorgeously beautiful surrounding nature. The villa blends privacy with expansiveness, showcasing the natural beauty of the area.
Thanks to its open-plan kitchen, dining and lounge area, the villa ensures spacious communal living so that you can truly connect with your loved ones, especially at key moments throughout the day. The Greeks are infamous for their gatherings at mealtimes so why not take a leaf or two out of their book? The living area is designed for exactly that, living, and with views overlooking the pool and bay, you can easily drink up a day here. Enjoy feasts at the large dining table or enjoy a comforting evening in front of the television with full access to satellite channels. Embrace a feeling of bliss at Villa Kallos.
What you should know…
- We made sure to take some cash with us especially when heading into the smaller towns and villages. Some of the more traditional taverns and bars will only take cash. Cash opens new doorways as you can find some real hidden gems which boast big portions but small prices.
- We booked a rental car in advance and we’re glad we did. We’d heard that they can get booked up quickly, especially in the summer months. A car is such an ideal way to see the beauty of the island and gives you great freedom.
- When we headed to some of the quaint churches, we made sure we covered our knees, chests and shoulders. This is in keeping with the cultural protocol when entering such buildings and is a mark of respect.

Location
About the surrounding area of Villa KallosThe largest of the Greek islands, Crete can be found at the southern tip of the Aegean Sea. Being a large island, it's filled to the brim with paradox – you can enjoy the feeling of remoteness that island life can bring whilst also being part of a thriving network of people and experiences. It’s the best of both worlds.
From your villa, you are a mere few minutes' walk from a coffee shop, shop, bar and restaurants just beside you in the peaceful Kokkino Chorio village, an emblem of easy Greek living. A five-minute car drive away is Plaka village which has more to offer in terms of supermarkets, restaurants and bars, especially if your tastes veer towards the international as well as the local. Crete is synonymous with beaches. Naturally, it’s a huge part of the appeal. There are numerous options for you to explore across the island, one such example is ‘Secret Beach’, tantalising in both name and nature. Small and secluded, the beach is sandy and peppered with restaurants and shops. For those who want to feel their heart race on holiday, there is a selection of watersports to enjoy including diving, windsurfing, paddle boarding and sailing as well as gentler options such as a sojourn on a pedalo.
You’re positioned between the city of Chania and the large town of Rethymnon – both boast cultural and historical charm and quaint beauty and are wonderful places to embed yourself in the Greek way of life. Explore the lighthouse at Chania or its maritime museum. You can immerse yourself in an antiqued experience of the past by heading to Chania’s Minoa’s World, a 9D experience that hurtles you back through the ancient civilisation of Greece. Rethymnon has a rich Venetian past and you can explore this via its architecture. Balos and Elafonisi are renowned for their world-famous lagoons and beaches making them well worth a visit. It’ll take an hour and a half but it’s absolutely worth seeing these stunning and utterly unique landscapes.
By car, the island of Crete is at your disposal so make sure you plan ahead. As well as history, culture and beauty, there are vast mountains and monuments that span various historical periods including the Byzantine and Ottoman. There’s also a thread of wild nightlife – Crete has its finger on the pulse of modernity whilst also preserving its past. You’ll find that the very soul of the island is Chania – it is here that key events take place and if you’re looking for somewhere that has it all, Chania easily foots the bill. Further afield you may wish to explore more beautiful beaches such as Platanias, Agia Marina, Maleme, Falasarna and Kasteli.

As a picturesque island, it has a steady easy way of life which promotes relaxation but there’s also plenty of adventure for those who seek it. A tried and tested stay for families, your younger ones will easily make friends here.
As Crete is one of the larger islands, it’s very popular with tourists who want that ‘bigger island’ feel – the sense that there’s a lot going on but you’re still very much in a sanctuary. Within the villa, children can enjoy the television, PlayStation and the gorgeous pool which can be heated on request. With plenty of communal spaces, you can enjoy family time in the dining, living and kitchen areas, as well as outdoors.
You’re in close proximity to a coffee shop, shop and restaurants if you want to head out for a meal and you’re sandwiched between two villages, Kokkino Chorio and Plaka. Plaka is the larger of the two and ideal if you want a greater choice of restaurants, taverns and bars.
There are many sandy beaches to enjoy so take the opportunity to swim, snorkel, dive or enjoy the watersports of the area – a firm favourite for many young ones. ‘Secret Beach’ is close by and offers a sleepy feel perfect for families with young children. There are also swathes of restaurants and shops along the beachfront so you can settle in. Head into Chania or Rethymnon if you want to expose the family to history. There are museums, old lighthouses and Minoa’s World – a wonderful immersive look at Greek history. For astounding natural beauty, head to Balos and Elafonisi where you can drink in a day of beaches and lagoons. These landscapes are some of the most stunning in the world.
Nightlife in Crete also offers many family-friendly options so you can head to the bar for dinner and drinks (for you…water for the kids!). Older children and teenagers can enjoy the nightlife scene that throbs in Chania. Head to the Aqua Creta waterpark for all the fun at the fair. Watercity Waterpark is another fabulous option. Whatever your family's interests and energy levels, Crete will certainly deliver.
