Overview
If you are looking for a romantic, idyllic haven on the island of Crete, then Villa Pyrite is a wonderful choice. With dreamy, uninterrupted sea views, a hilly backdrop, a gorgeous interior and fabulous outdoor space, Villa Pyrite, is the perfect place to unwind, refresh and reinvigorate. It comes with an open bedroom and living space, an ensuite bathroom and a lovely terrace, pool and garden, not to mention those views that will stay with you long after your holiday.
Villa Pyrite is hidden away under gorgeous landscaped gardens and offers a delightful mix of contemporary cool and refined elegance. It is romantic, trendy and beautifully presented. It comes with warm and inviting exposed stonework, cool furnishings, a modern kitchen and a lovely seating and dining area. Villa Pyrite is one of three newly built villas that enjoy this fantastic, prestigious spot overlooking the beach. Our Villas Epidote and Pyrite boast three bedrooms each. Villa Pyrite is a fabulous addition, perhaps for grandparents of a family visiting one of the other villas so that you have some private time too.
The baby beach of Falasarna is just 750m from Villa Pyrite and the long sandy beach 2km away. Set on a small hill, the sunset views are absolutely magnificent from this exclusive location. You will find yourselves nestled outside every evening to be mesmerised by the sky changing to orange, pink and red. Falasarna is part of the Natura 2000 network due to its outstanding natural beauty and its endless varieties of flora and fauna. It offers white powdery sand, crystal clear water and mind-blowing sunsets that will remain in your memory for a very long time. Within easy reach are the equally stunning Elafonisi Beach, voted as one of the best five secret beaches by the BBC, and the idyllic Balos Beach with its pink sand and shallow waters. Balos is one of the main reasons visitors arrive in Crete and it is often compared to Caribbean beaches. The lively resort of Kissamos is less than 12km away and you can also visit the Venetian harbour of Chania, just less than 60km away, for its beauty and amazing dining scene.
Villa Pyrite has very cleverly been constructed with a landscaped garden on top and surrounding the villa. It feels as though you are hidden away to enjoy your holiday as a couple. The room is open plan with a double bed and open wardrobe to one side and a kitchen, living and dining area to the other. A wall-mounted Smart television is opposite the bed, handy for watching a late-night Netflix movie. The low sofa is sprinkled with colourful cushions on the far side of the room and a dining table and chairs sits in the middle. Large glass doors slide open, giving you access to the terrace and drowning this gorgeous space in natural light. The all-white kitchen offers excellent appliances including a Nespresso coffee machine and a filter coffee machine. With cool furnishings, a lavish Coco-mat mattress on the bed, luxury linens and air-conditioning, Villa Pyrite is a dreamy nest. The fully tiled bathroom is beautiful with a shower and top-of-the-range contemporary fittings.
While Villa Pyrite enjoys lovely indoor space, the magic really happens outside. The terrace has been designed to take full advantage of the views and is completely private. It boasts a delightful swimming pool, an outdoor shower, luxury loungers where you can relax enjoying the sunshine and your holiday books, a rocking chair, alfresco dining and lovely lounge space. It also boasts a built-in barbecue with a handy sink. A Marshall sound system is provided so that you can even listen to your favourite tracks outside.

Location
About the surrounding area of Villa PyriteThe dreamy Villa Pyrite offers the most spectacular, uninterrupted views of the wonderful Falasarna Beach. It is an amazing, exclusive location where you can relax and soothe your souls. You can easily explore Crete’s other amazing beaches from here and head to Kissamos or Chania for entertainment and fabulous dining opportunities.
The captivating Falasarna Beach boasts a beautiful array of flora and fauna, glistening white sand and crystal-clear turquoise water. There are several companies offering watersports including Falasarna Activities which offers wakeboard and jet ski tuition. At the northern end of the beach, there are ruins of the ancient Grecoroman city of Falasarna. Falasarna is actually made up of five beaches with the main beach called Pachia Ammos. Livadi is another of the long beaches, a good choice for snorkelling. Livadi is surrounded by important wetlands with ponds and many birds. It is easy to see why Falasarna gets voted in the top ten beach lists.
Elafonisi has also been named one of the world’s top beaches. It is connected by a sand bar to an island nature reserve with pink sands, wildflowers and unusual rock formations. There is no shade on the island but there are delightful little coves and pockets of sandy beach as well as being home to more than one hundred rare plants including summer sea daffodils and winter-flowering Androcymbium rechingeri. You may even see rare loggerhead sea turtles and you will definitely enjoy picture-perfect sunsets. Elafonisi is often featured on postcards, combining its turquoise waters with its pink sand and lagoon.
The mesmerising Balos Beach sits quietly on the Gramvousa peninsula, in the protected ‘NATURA’ area of Balos Bay. Its glistening white sand, rare species of flora and fauna and turquoise sea are incredible. Balos is a brilliant beach for families with idyllic scenery and shallow water that will meet every expectation to the fullest. Beyond the rocks at the boundaries of the lagoon, the water is deeper and ideal for snorkelling. Eleonora falcons, shags and cormorants nest in the caves and the area is a shelter for protected monk seal and loggerhead sea turtles. You will think you are in the Maldives or somewhere as it is so beautiful. Balos can be reached by car or you can take a boat trip to the beach from Kissamos. North of Balos, in Cape Korykon, there are remains of the small Roman town of Agnio with the temple of Apollo and the picturesque chapel of Agios Sostis.
The lively tourist resort of Kissamos is nestled on the edge of the Gramvousa peninsula, within easy reach of the villa. Kissamos is also known as Kastelli Kissamou in reference to the former Venetian fortress that used to dominate the town. Kissamos enjoys many tavernas, beaches and plenty of shops. Surrounding the town are fertile olive groves and vineyards. The main beach is Mavros Molos which is sprinkled with trees, sunbeds and parasols. The Archaeological Museum of Kissamos is located on the main square, Stratigou Tzanakaki, boasting an impressive collection of local discoveries from a wide range of historical eras. A little further north of the main port of Kissamos is the quaint, colourful Old Port of Kastelli Kissamou which is brimming with brightly coloured fishing boats, a photographer’s dream. A little further along the coast from Kissamos is the buzzy and popular resort of Platanias. Platanias is a large tourist resort which boasts electric bars and nightclubs so if you are looking for a buzzy night out you can head there. Next comes the lively Agia Marina where you will find a gorgeous beach, glorious sunsets and excellent dining opportunities.
Almost 60km from the villa and known as the Venice of the East, Chania Old Town is truly magical with unique shops lining its charming cobbled streets, a brilliant dining scene, trendy waterfront bars serving delicious cocktails and its famous Venetian harbour and imposing lighthouse. The harbour was originally built by the Venetians between 1320 and 1356 and is now a vibrant, cosmopolitan spot for tourists and locals. The Egyptian lighthouse is much photographed, especially at sunset. You can take a slow meander to the lighthouse to take in the stunning views of the harbour, the Old Town with its backdrop of the majestic White Mountains. On the waterfront, the Giali Tzamisi is the oldest Muslim building in Crete. The Turkish name is translated to ‘The Seaside Mosque’. It plays host to various cultural events and exhibitions.
Samaria Gorge is the longest gorge in Europe at 16km which would take roughly six hours to pass along the whole gorge. Otherwise, you can drive to Chora Sfakion and take a boat to Agia Roumeli and walk a few kilometres at the end of the gorge. The Imbros Gorge is also very beautiful and takes approximately two hours. You can combine this walk with swimming in Fragokastelo Beach.

One child can sleep on the sofa in the living area and perhaps another in a cot, but if you are looking for a family villa, you may like to look at either Villa Epidote or Villa Scepter in the same location.
Falasarna Beach is a brilliant location for families with the wonderful Elafonisi and Balos beaches also close by. Kissamos Beach enjoys several surf schools including Kalo Surf and a number of opportunities to learn to stand-up paddleboard on the beach. There are many boat trips, either to Balos or just to enjoy swimming and snorkelling in the clear blue water.
The well-known Cave of Agia Sophia near Kissamos is a remarkable sight, full of dramatic, twisted stalagmites and stalactites. The Sirikari Gorge that runs from the village of Sirikari down to Polyrrinia can be explored on a three-hour walk, where you will see a wealth of beautiful plants and as well as wild animals. Another gorge, the Keramari Gorge near to near Kissamos, is the entrance to the traditional village of Milia. Active children may enjoy mountain biking or hiking in some of the gorges or the eroded, bizarre-looking hills of Komolithi.
Chania Town is a great place for families. Minoan’s World of 3D Museum and 9D Cinema is an immersive cinema where you can learn about the Minoan history while enjoying 11 effects such as earthquakes, snow and much more. The movie stars Zeus as a baby and as a God, abductions, flying too close to the sun and an eruption of the volcano in Santorini causing a devastating tsunami that ended the Minoan era.
Aqua Creta Limnoupolis is a fun water park close to Chania. It offers extreme adventure with impressive water slides including two freefall slides, a black hole, a triple twist, a rainbow multi-slide and two giant slides. It also boasts a lazy river, a kid’s pool and an artificial island.
The cuisine in Crete is delicious and it is very easy to eat out with children. You should definitely stop at a Cretan bakery for biscuits and pastries. Loukoumades are honey-drenched doughnuts that children adore!
