Overview
Stay in a country-style, stone cottage when you vacation in the Villas Etthy, in Halkidiki, on the Greek mainland, near the azure waters of the Aegean Sea. Villas Etthy is one of six identical villas, each with its own private swimming pool and garden, and within walking distance of the family-friendly resort and beaches of Flogita town. Small, yet perfectly formed, these bijou two-storey, detached properties each have two double bedrooms, and can comfortably accommodate up to four guests, ideal for a small family or two couples travelling together.
The villas come complete with private parking, and complimentary air conditioning and Wi-Fi throughout. Villa Etthy is built out of traditional local stone, with a classic terracotta roof, and is surrounded by stone walls and high fencing for privacy, security, and shade. The interiors are cosy and comfortable, furnished in a home-from-home style, with lots of natural light wood, timbered ceilings, and parquet floors, and decorated in a soft colour palette of gentle earth tones.
Enter the villa at the ground floor level, where you will be welcomed by an open-plan living space. The seating area has a pale grey two-seater sofa, shelving unit and chair, coffee table, a flat-screen satellite television, and doors that open onto the pool terrace. The galley-style kitchen is fully equipped with all the latest appliances that you will need to cater for your holiday, including that must-have Nespresso coffee maker. A four-seater dining set is a perfect place to meet for breakfast and plan the day. On this floor, there is a bedroom with a stone wall, which will be super cool in the summer, a built-in double bed, and open-plan wardrobes. A modern white tiled shower room completes the ground floor accommodation. Take the stairs to the first floor, where under the timbered eaves there is a second bedroom, with a double bed, and a shower room with hand basin and WC.
Step out onto the terrace, where there is a lush green lawn, and a centrepiece, a step-entry swimming pool, with views over the adjacent fields towards the town. Wooden sun loungers and seaside deck chairs surround the pool, perfectly positioned under a shaded spot. As dusk falls feast at the four-seater alfresco dining set, with dishes freshly grilled on the barbeque, and raise a glass of retsina to life’s simple pleasures.

About the surrounding area of Villas EtthyVillas Etthy can be found in the coastal resort of Flogita, near the most westerly of the Halkidiki peninsulas, on the north Greek mainland, by the azure waters of the Aegean Sea. The villa is thirty-five kilometres from the nearest international airport of Thessaloniki Airport Makedonia. Within walking distance of the villa, there are minimarts, stocked with provisions to cater for your holiday. The nearest beach and village of Flogita is only a kilometre away. Nea Flogita Beach is noted for its golden sands, sun loungers and shady brollies, crystal clear seawater, and seafront tavernas. After dark hit the bars and restaurants, before dancing til dawn at one of its nightclubs.
Halkidiki has a reputed sixty-two beautiful beaches, including nearby Dyonisou with its soft sands; Nea Moudania noted for its watersports; Agios Mamas, secluded and quiet; and Nea Potidea, organised and family-friendly. There are three peninsulas in Halkidiki, each with their own distinctive character, Villa Flogita is nearest to Cassandra, famous for its busy beaches and active nightlife. Sithonia sits in the middle, attracting nature lovers and deserted beaches. The most easterly is Athos, with picture postcard golden sandy beaches, and a backdrop of ancient olive groves and pine forests. The monastery of Mount Athos can only be viewed from the water, and only men may visit by arrangement at least six months in advance. All aboard a boat trip along the coastline, swim and snorkel in the warm Aegean waters, and dine aboard on freshly caught fish. Island hop to the Drenia Isles, an archipelago of six islands, with shallow waters that are superb for swimming.
The area is steeped in ancient history, most notably Stageria, the birthplace of the Greek philosopher, Aristotle, with a park dedicated to his life and work. The village of Olynthos is an archaeological site discovered in the 1930s with well-preserved mosaic floors, and a museum displaying the findings. Take a trip to the cave of Petralona, on the western side of Mount Katsika, full of stalagmites and stalactites, where a human skull believed to be over seven hundred thousand years was discovered, along with lots of other animal fossils. The capital city of Halkidiki is Poligiros, in the centre of the peninsula, known for its nightlife and bars, and the Archeological and Folklore Museums. Get active with a hike along the trails through the local lush green forests, a day’s scuba diving, a jeep safari across the terrain to local villages, small beaches, and ancient archaeological sites, and best of all a wine and honey tasting tour.
Travel further afield to the city of ancient Thessaloniki, wander around the Ano Poli, or Old Town, see the city walls, admire the stunning views from the top, seek solace in the church and crypt of Agios Dimitrios, and learn about the history and culture of the area in the Archeological and Byzantine Museums. See the landmark White Tower and statue of Alexander the Great, pass under the Arch of Galerius, and visit the Rotunda, a fourth-century circular place of worship, built by the Romans, and famous for its mosaics.

All aboard a traditional caique for a fabulous family day out swimming and snorkelling, discovering hidden coves and secret bays. Sailing the Drenia Isles, once called the Donkey Islands, and home to underwater ancient walls, is a must. Take to four wheels with an off-road Jeep Safari, and discover the area’s natural flora and fauna, and authentic Greek villages. A day out to the capital Poligiros or Thessaloniki, where your children can visit the Archeological and Byzantine Museums, and learn about the ancient history and culture of Greece is a must.
