Overview
Hideaway at Assos Blue – a luxury three-bedroomed villa on Kefalonia’s picturesque coast. A short drive from charming Assos village, yet in a quiet and peaceful spot, nestled among the pine-tree lined hills and overlooking the blue azure Ionian; the villa offers pure relaxation.
Put your laptop away and spend your afternoons whiling away the afternoon on a cushioned sun lounger by your private infinity pool or curl up with your favourite book under the shade of a tree. Sea lover? Individual steps are leading down to the waters. From there, it’s only 200 metres to the sandy beach.
All the rooms at Assos Blue champion elegant simplicity, with fuss-free design, plenty of space and a pastel colour scheme: soothing greys and crisp white exude a fresh and modern appeal.
On the ground floor, there’s a fully-equipped kitchen and a couple of steps which lead you down to the open-plan sitting and dining room with a charming wooden dining table and comfortable sofas.
Warm decorative touches include colourful artwork, plush cushions and potted plants. Large windows allow you to savour those beautiful vistas of the sea, mountainside and Assos castle.
Outside, the decadence continues. The infinity swimming pool looks as if it's spilling into the sea and is lined with loungers, chairs and a sprawling gazebo. There’s also a barbeque – perfect for enjoying those magical sunsets and fantastic nature views with your freshly-bought seafood from the village.
More steps lead to the first floor where there’s a master double bedroom with a large balcony. There’s also a twin bedroom with a separate bathroom on the second floor and a second master double bedroom in the cosy attic space. All the bedrooms are equally welcoming and stylish.
With famous Myrtos Bay – a sandy beach flanked by two majestic mountains – and the centre of Assos village with its friendly local tavernas and historic castle only a short drive away, Assos Blue is an excellent choice not only for families with children but also for those who want to explore the rich cultural heritage and natural beauty of this idyllic part of Kefalonia.
What you should know…
- The steps leading down to the sea are quite steep so you will need to watch your step
- You can jump straight into the sea from the platform at the bottom; however if you want to relax on the sandy beach it’s either a short 200-metre swim or a few minutes’ boat ride away
- The villa is part of a complex so although its private, there are other properties nearby

Location
About the surrounding area of Assos BlueAssos Blue is in the quiet and traditional village of Assos on the Ionian Island of Kefalonia. It shot to fame as a set of Louis de Bernieres' wartime novel – and later film – Captain Corelli's Mandolin. Years later, it still feels like an undiscovered secret with its serene natural setting, historic sites and a relaxed atmosphere.
Kefalonia is also renowned for its soft sandy beaches, mountain gorges and quaint harbour villages. Spend your days swimming in the crystal-clear waters, exploring the Venetian-style architecture or trying fresh local cuisine like seafood, mezes or moussaka.
The villa itself offers the perfect starting point for exploring more of this beautiful Ionian island. It’s only a short drive from must-see sights like the 15th-century Assos castle in Assos village and Myrtos bay with its picture-worthy beach that’s framed by tall cliffs – both seen from your terrace.
In Assos village, there are also verdant forests with pine and cypress trees to explore. The town is small and still retains its old-world charm with classic Ionian architecture and pretty pastel-coloured houses nestled into the steep hillside.
At the harbour, you can while away the afternoon watching fishing boats and luxury yachts mooring, while in the village square there are tavernas, shops and restaurants to dine at or do as the locals do and sip cold coffee.
Assos beach is also a must visit, with its clear waters and fantastic views across the bay. You can relax on the pebbles or swim and snorkel in the sea. From the villa, Assos village can be reached by car. The coastal route to get there is spectacular and takes in the dramatic rock formations and tranquil sea waters.
In Kefalonia, you’ll also find many intriguing caves to discover. There’s the magical underground lake of Melissanthi or Drogarati with its exquisite natural formations. You could also hop on a boat and head to the untouched coves, inlets and secluded beaches.
Some tours stop off for lunch and swimming. Or, for a dose of culture instead, head to Saint Gerasimos monastery. It’s an impressive 15th-century building that sits beneath Mount Ainos, near the villages Falgrata and Valsamata.
