Penelope II like its sister Penelope I, is a pristine, modern 2-bedroom villa with a private pool, sitting amidst wide, grassy gardens that provide wonderful levels of privacy and tranquility within the wonderfully diverse Kefalonia countryside. The villa has numerous spaces that allow you to enjoy your island getaway with absolute comfort and relaxation, whether rustling up lunch on the stone barbeque after a morning by the pool, or spending quality time on the balcony as you watch the sun set over the mountains.
Just a fifteen-minute stroll from the villa lies a wealth of un-spoilt, sandy beaches, and the quaint fishing village of Sami. Here you will find the real Kefalonia, escaping the crowds and enjoying authentic café bars and restaurants. There is also the unmissable Melissani Cave, a stunning underground lake which can be explored by boat, revealing glorious blue waters that must be seen to be believed.
What you should know…
- The villa is neighboured by 3 other villas but each has plenty of private gardens, and the site is otherwise wonderfully isolated, at the end of a small country lane.
- Kefalonia is largely unspoilt, natural paradise, but that could make it a little quiet for some guests.

Location
About the surrounding area of Penelope IIA stroll of about fifteen minutes takes you along to the gorgeous beach and lovely waterfront shops, restaurants and café bars in nearby Sami, whilst a drive of less than ten minutes brings you to another delightful village, Aghia Efimia, well known for its eclectic selection of café bars, restaurants and shops. For those who enjoy exploring vast blue flagged beaches, and escaping the crowds, this is the perfect corner of Kefalonia to holiday in, as the nearby beaches of Anti Sami, Myrtos and Poros offer just that, and more.
Also, why not explore the nearby Melissani Lake, once known as the cave of the nymphs, well, until the roof caved in! Re-discovered back in 1951 and with a depth and variety of colours we only thought capable with the use of Photoshop, when the sunlight hits, it reflects every shade of blue you can think of.

Getting There
How to reach Kefalonia island
There are two ways to get to Kefalonia island: either by flight or by ferry.
By plane: During the busy months, the airport of Kefalonia (EFL) receives a great number of domestic but also charter flights. The airport is located 7 km outside Argostoli, the capital of the island.
By ferry: Kefalonia has three ports: Sami (SMI), Argostoli (ARM), and Poros (PKE). If you want to arrive in Sami you should depart from Patra (GRA). In case you want to arrive to Poros or Argostoli you can depart from Killini (KIL). The trips last from 1.5 to 3 hours. You can easily book your ferry tickets using the link below or the booking engine.
Kids
Best Suited For: All AgesThere's plenty to do with children in the area. Most will want to spend every given hour in the water eith of the villas pool or one of Kafalonia's lovely beaches but sometimes you'll want to do other things especially when it gets too hot. With Sacla serving as a local port toddlers will enjoy watching the ferries arriving and departing from a nearby taverna! For different scenery you can take a ferry to the nearby island of Ithaca, there are 7 sailings a day.
There are a few local riding stables or they can go donkey trekking at nearby Grizata. A boat trip is always popular, it's worth taking one that takes in nearby Melissani Cave or you can hire one of the small motor boats and drive yourself.7km away is the Monastery of Agios Gerasimos, the patron saint of the island. Tours are available and it's worth a visit.
A half day out would be to head to Argostoli to see the giant turtles in the harbour around the fishing boats when the fishermen are sorting their catch. A quick return trip to Luxouri and an ice cream would add excitement to the trip. Lixouri also has a water park. There is also a glass bottom boat trip from Argostoli.
