Getting There
How to reach Kefalonia island
There are two ways to get to Kefalonia island: either by flight or by ferry.
By plane: During the busy months, the airport of Kefalonia (EFL) receives a great number of domestic but also charter flights. The airport is located 7 km outside Argostoli, the capital of the island.
By ferry: Kefalonia has three ports: Sami (SMI), Argostoli (ARM), and Poros (PKE). If you want to arrive in Sami you should depart from Patra (GRA). In case you want to arrive to Poros or Argostoli you can depart from Killini (KIL). The trips last from 1.5 to 3 hours. Best Suited For: All AgesKefalonia is a wonderful choice for those visiting Greece with the kids as it is one of the more beautiful and natural of the Ionian islands. Within walking distance of the home, there are plenty of sandy beaches you can visit as a family.
