Overview
Villa Selenite is a totally unique property offering charm, comfort and beauty just a minute outside of the village of Lazarata in rural Lefkada. It sleeps six guests and offers wonderfully atmospheric accommodation and brilliant outdoor space with panoramic views. It offers calm and tranquillity in a location where you can totally relax and unwind. If you can drag yourselves away from your peaceful, rural hideaway, the beautiful island of Lefkada is waiting for you to discover it.
Lazarata is a breezy pretty village in the north of Lefkada where a former tavern has been turned into the first pub brewery in Greece. In the summer, the microbrewery also serves delicious pizzas, tarte flambee and homemade surprises. In the winter, creativity runs and will surprise everyone. The craft beer is delicious. Lazarata is a little larger than its neighbouring villages of Asprogerakata, Pinakochori and Kavallos though the nearby village of Karya is one of the largest villages on the island. Lazarata is surrounded by lush hills sprinkled with trees, vineyards, olive groves and farmland. The village’s two ancient churches of Agios Dionissios and Agios Spyridonas are both over one hundred and fifty years old. Not far from the villa are the seaside villages and towns of Agios Nikitas, Nikiana, Nidri and Lefkada Town. Lefkas is a magical island surrounded by beautiful, knock-out beaches and amazing coves and boasts a stunning, lush interior brimming with scenic hilly countryside and hilltop villages.
Villa Selenite is surrounded by a large private garden sprinkled with colourful flowers, towering trees, Mediterranean shrubs and exotic plants. Its mountainous views are superb and make you feel far away from the stresses and strains of everyday life. The garden enjoys a uniquely shaped swimming pool, perfect for a cooling dip. The pool is surrounded by loungers, umbrellas, day beds and a shaded alfresco dining area. The pool offers hydro massage for an extra special treat. The interiors of Villa Selenite are gorgeous but the views and the wonderful terrace and gardens create the special magic and holiday memories to take home.
The living space is open-plan in design. It offers a very attractive mix of vintage and modern furnishings with lots of handpicked accessories that make you realise you are staying in a much loved home. The kitchen is modern with fabulous appliances for a self-catering stay including an excellent coffee machine. This leads to a charming dining area and the quaint and characterful living area with its exposed stone walls and unique furnishings. The living area enjoys a super high ceiling and is bright and airy.
Villa Selenite boasts three charming bedrooms, two with double beds and one with twin beds. The master enjoys an ensuite shower room plus there are two other bathrooms, one with a bath and one with a shower. Like the living spaces, the bedrooms offer calm, neutral colour palettes and a mix of vintage and modern furnishings. Guests staying at the villa enjoy maid service twice a week and pool service two to three times a week.

Location
About the surrounding area of Villa SeleniteLefkada, otherwise known as Lefkas, is a lush, beautiful island surrounded by fabulous beaches. Its scenic hilly countryside is sprinkled with quaint hilltop villages such as Lazarata. You can climb mountain peaks and walk or cycle along the many trails, captivated by the gorgeous scenery. Some of best places to see are the Skari Mountain with its centenarian oak trees, the gorge of Melissa, the water springs of Dafni and Kersia and Elati Mountain. When hiking, you will enjoy exploring ancient monasteries, small churches and gorgeous villages. The mountain village of Karya, is lovely with its central square full of busy taverna tables under the shade of a huge plant tree. Visitors enjoy the local Karysaniki embroidery, once a vital part of the national dress. North-east of Karya and surrounded by towering cypress trees, mountain scenery and craggy cliffs is Lazarata, the home of Villa Selenite. There are two notable churches, Agios Dionissis and Agios Spiridonas. Lazarata is surrounded by vineyards, olive groves, citrus plantations and the red-roofed houses. Nearby are the sleepy villages of Asprogeratkata, Kavallos and Pinakochori. You can take an organised mountain bike tour of the island, a great way to see the island from a different perspective. Some cycling tours also include the stunning neighbouring island of Meganisi. It is quite remarkable that Lefkas remains under the tourist radar and feels like a special secret.
The nearest beaches to Villa Selenite are Pefkoulia, Milos and Kathisma. Kathisma Beach faces the Ionian archipelago, offering fine dazzling white sand, sparkling turquoise waters and a good selection of beach bars and sun loungers. Pefkoulia Beach is an impressive sandy beach close to the fishing village of Agios Nikitas. The beach can get quite crowded in the summer as it is so popular. Among the island’s most beautiful beaches are Egremni, Kathisma and the mesmerising Porto Katsiki which is loved for its golden sands and fascinating landscape. The unique beauty of Egremni’s 2.5 km beach has made it one of the most photographed landscapes on the island. Its name comes from the impressive cliffs that surround the beach. The best beaches for windsurfing and kitesurfing are Agios Ioannis and Vassiliki. Nidri Beach is very organised with an excellent watersports centre and plenty of loungers, parasols and beach bars.
Nidri is the largest of the tourist towns with Nikiana is the second. The town boasts an endless list of amenities and activities, irresistible sandy beaches, unforgettable views, an excellent dining scene and beautiful scenery. Nidri and Sivota are favourites with yacht charter firms. Island hopping is very popular, very easy and very enjoyable. Excursion boats can take you to the local islets and the secluded coastal bays of Lefkas. Ferries can take you to Ithaca and Kefalonia. The gorgeous Geni peninsula is a fifteen minute drive around the bay from Nidri or a five minute crossing by boat. Geni village is a friendly, traditional fishing village where you will be made to feel very welcome in its charming waterfront tavernas. Another fabulous place to visit is the medieval castle of Santa Maura.
Wine lovers enjoy Lefkas Earth, the home of some fine local wines. You can combine this stop with a fresh seafood lunch overlooking the brilliant blue waters at Sivota or Vasiliki.

The pool is always very popular too. The village of Lazarata is wonderful, very friendly and offering some good shops and restaurants.
Children adore Lefkas’ fantastic beaches and its warm turquoise water. Most of the beaches are backed by a beautiful, verdant mountainous landscape which make them look even more beautiful. There is a good variety of watersports on many beaches and the sunsets are magical. Porto Katsiki Beach is often called the ‘Maldives of Europe’ because of its immense beauty. Egremni Beach is another much-loved beach. Adventurous older children enjoy kitesurfing or windsurfing at Mili Beach, Agios Ioannis, Vassiliki and at Kathisma, one of the nearest beaches to the villa. Children love paragliding over Kathisma Beach. Nidri Beach is excellent for families. The island is a great place to learn a new watersport. Children also love taking boat trips to the islands including Skorpios, the island owned by the Onassis family.
The amazing Dimosari Waterfalls, also known as the Nidri Waterfalls are worth a visit. There is a delightful cafe for refreshments. The waterfalls are one of the scenic highlights of the island with the water falling into a blue lake framed by huge rocks. Swimming in the lake is lovely.
The Monastery of Faneromeni dates back to the 17th century and offers a wonderful view of the lagoons and beaches around it. Children enjoy lighting candles in the orthodox churches. The monastery is also home to a mini zoo with deer, birds, ducks, parrots, squirrels and chickens. Another trip that helps them to learn about the island it to take a tour of the Olive Museum ‘Fabbrica’ which explains the island’s traditional craft, olive oil production. It includes a tasting at the end. Close to the museum is the Kerasia Waterfall, another beauty with stunning views. Along the west coast of the island is the Venetian Olive Grove where you can stroll in the frame of centenary olive trees.
At the mountain village of Karya, close to Villa Selenite, children enjoy buying souvenirs from the selection of hand-made puppets and crafts, pretty lace and embroidery on sale. Karya is home to a wonderful Folklore Museum where ancient traditions are recreated. Other museums on the island include the Archaeological Museum of Lefkada and the Phonograph, Radio and Traditional Museum.
