Overview
Go Boho with beach house vibes when you take a vacation in the beautiful Villa Charon, situated on the south coast of the island of Paros, part of the Cyclades in the turquoise waters of the Aegean Sea. This luxury, two-storey, detached villa is a spacious one hundred and five square metres and enjoys uninterrupted views over the azure Aegean Sea towards the sister island of Antiparos. The villa is set in its own small grounds enclosed by a stone wall and comes complete with its own private pool. Villa Charon has three spacious ensuite double bedrooms, and can comfortably accommodate up to six guests, ideal for a family or friend’s sharing.
The villa is part of a small complex made up of six unique detached properties, located in the valley of Petaloudes, in Glisadia on the southern coastline of the beautiful Greek island of Paros. These architect-designed properties are built in the traditional Cycladic style of whitewashed stone, on the slope of a large two-acre plus estate, set in an ancient olive grove. The villas have been purposely positioned to be protected from the north winds, and maximise those enchanting turquoise Aegean Sea views. The villa interiors are light and airy, furnished with contemporary pieces, with lots of natural light-coloured woods, and decorated in a palette of crisp cool whites and soft hues of blues, which gives them a classic beach house vibe. All the villas come with independent entrances, private parking for two cars, and complimentary Wi-Fi and air conditioning throughout. Use of a shared fourteen metre by eight-metre sea view swimming pool, set in a generous five hundred square metre terrace, is included. The pool is surrounded by sun loungers and shady parasols, and there is an adjacent relaxing lounge and bar, and changing facilities too. The villas benefit from an on-site Concierge, who can arrange anything from yacht charters, daily boat trips, and sight-seeing tours, to in-house dining, restaurant reservations, and yoga and wellness therapies. The property can be booked in advance and by prior arrangement to host social events and the wedding of your dreams. Most importantly, the nearest family-friendly sandy beach is but a short drive away.
Enter the villa at the upper level, where you will find a light and airy holiday home of easy open-plan living. The seating area has a white sofa and matching armchair, wooden coffee tables, a flat-screen forty-two-inch flat-screen television, and an open fire for those cooler months and evenings. The adjoining dining area has a six-seater set for some informal entertaining. The kitchen is fully equipped with all the latest appliances, including a family-size fridge freezer, that must-have Nespresso coffee maker, and a wooden breakfast bar with tall stools. Take the stairs to the lower level where there are three double bedrooms. The master bedroom has a king-size bed, flat screen television, an ensuite bathroom, and floor-to-ceiling doors that lead out onto the terrace. The second bedroom also has a king-size bed, ensuite bathroom, and access to the terrace. The third bedroom is an ensuite with a queen size bed. There is a shared storage area and laundry room. You can also access the twenty-four square metre terrace via the external staircase, where you will find your own private sea view infinity swimming pool. Enjoy morning coffee at the outside soft seating area, meet for cocktails on the terrace at sunset, then dine at the alfresco six-seater sea view table.
What you should know…
- The three bedrooms all have double beds, there are no single beds, great for three couples sharing or a small family
- The third bedroom doesn’t have a sea view
- We recommend hiring a car to see all the sights you’d like to see, although there is a good public transport system on the island too

Location
About the surrounding area of Villa CharonVilla Charon is located in the stunning setting of an exclusive six-villa enclave, on the south coast of Paros, one of the Cycladic islands, in the heart of the Greek Aegean Sea. The villas are built on the slope of an ancient olive grove, with panoramic sea views as far as the eye can see. The villas are near the beautifully named Petaloudes valley, which means Valley of the Butterflies, in the area known as Glisadia. The villa is only four kilometres from the international airport of Paros, and for those who are island hopping, it is just four kilometres from the port of Pounda. The villas are near lots of lovely sandy beaches with calm, easy entry, shallow waters, most notably the nearby secluded Paralia Agia Irini, and Kite Beach. Other recommended slightly further afield beaches include, Kolymbithres for its amazing rock formations, golden sands, and crystal clear waters, Faraggas and Monastiri especially on windy days, as they offer natural shelter, and the popular cosmopolitan Santa Maria, and Golden Beach.
Take time for a day trip to the town of Parikia, the historic capital of the island, on the west coast. Make sure you visit the fourth-century Byzantine Greek Orthodox gem of Panagia Ekatontapiliani and admire the marble screens and original icons. Walk up to the top of the town to see the Frankish castle with thick marble and rock walls, built by the Venetians in the thirteenth century. Here you will find a blue-domed church and sweeping scenic views. Visit the Archeological Museum, charting the cultural history of the island from antiquity to Ottoman times, and noted for its collection of statues. Amble down the cobbles streets, with its charming blue and white houses, and colourful overhanging bougainvillaea. Lose yourself in the labyrinth of souvenir shops selling hand-crafted artefacts, relax in a local ouzo bar, and enjoy lunch in one of the many restaurants. Hit the beaches, choose from Parikia’s laid-back white sandy beach, go slightly north to busy Lividia, or south to Delfini, set in a small cove.
At the end of the day, find your spot and watch the famous sunsets, a glass of wine in hand. Go further north to the holiday hot spot of Naousa, a picturesque fishing village, that has managed to retain its original rustic charm. Walk the maze of stone streets to discover tiny churches, admire the thirteenth-century icons in the Byzantine Museum, visit the Venetian castle, then find yourself a seafront taverna and dine off freshly caught fish. After dark Naousa is known for its nightlife, here you can dance till dawn.
For those who want to get active Paros has thirty-eight hiking trails, nine running ones, and six road bike riding tours, take your pick. Go kitesurfing in Pounda, windsurfing at Golden Beach, and water skiing and wakeboarding at Naousa. Take a tour of one of the island’s many vineyards, sample the results of the harvest, and take home a bottle or two. Venture further afield with a day trip to the sister island of Antiparos, just across the water from the port of Pounda, for a fabulous laid-back relaxing day seeking out the beautiful beaches of Faneromeni, Agios Georgios, and Sifneikos Gialos.

Region
The third largest island in the Cyclades, Paros is rapidly becoming the ‘place to be’ for its charming villages, rich history, gorgeous beaches and incredible natural beauty.
Ferries from Athens, Santorini and Mykonos arrive into the island’s historic capital, Parikia, a vibrant town with hidden gems waiting to be discovered as you get lost within the warren of winding lanes. Soak up the authentic local ambience, dine out in fine restaurants and finish the day with a glass of island wine overlooking the Aegean as the sun sets. If flying to the island from Athens, the airport is in the south-west between Aliki and Parikia.
Heading north-east, be enchanted by Naoussa, a delightful fishing village with picture-perfect scenery across its bougainvillea-clad alleys with white-washed houses, Orthodox churches, little boutiques and taverna tables perched by the harbourside. Naoussa has also gained quite a reputation for its chic yet relaxed bar scene for those seeking a little island nightlife during their stay.
Visit some of the island’s beautiful beaches across this part of the coastline from Monastiri with its beach clubs and shallow waters to Kolymbithres and its impressive rock formations. The most adventurous will no doubt discover yet more sandy bays and hidden shores whilst watersport enthusiasts should venture to Pounda for kite-surfing (as well as ferries to Antiparos).
To experience the true character of the island, pass olive groves, citrus trees and pine forests to reach the traditional Greek village of Lefkes. There’s almost a timeless ambience across the village’s flower-filled lanes and it’s the most enchanting place to watch local life go by. Hike along the Byzantine trail for the more magnificent scenery.
Indeed, the island is a paradise for keen walkers, especially accompanied by spring’s wild flowers or autumnal colours across the hills. There is a network of around 35km of hiking trails as well as opportunities for horse-riding, cycling and other nature excursions – the Valley of the Butterflies is wonderful.
Meanwhile, an array of summer boat excursions will whisk you away for Aegean adventures, sunset cruises, fishing trips or island hopping with Antiparos, Naxos and even Mykonos all within easy reach by sea.

Swim and snorkel in the calm Aegean Sea, learn to scuba dive and discover an underwater aquatic world of colourful fish, kayak, paddleboard, and windsurf in the windy north of the island, or learn to sail and island hop to see the neighbours. Have some fun in the sun at Aquapark Paros in Naousa, slip down the thirteen slides, designed for different ages, swim in the lazy river, and enjoy the onsite amenities. All the family will enjoy a day out at Petra Farm, ten minutes from Parikia. This organic farm has traditional Mediterranean crops including olives and grapes, as well as goats and chickens. After a tour, taste and take home the delicious delights that the farm produces.
A day trip to Parikia is fabulous fun, wander the streets of the capital town, and visit the castle, churches, and museums, before enjoying the famous homemade pastries and gelato ice cream. No trip to Paros is complete without a family day at sea, whether aboard a shared caiques, or charter your own yacht with its own captain. Enjoy a lazy day, swimming, snorkelling, and sunbathing, dine aboard on homemade mezes, and then sail home as the sun sets. Take it up a notch and venture further afield with a Rib Ride island hopping tour and visit nearby Naxos. As the sun sets, take out a telescope and go gazing, there’s a whole galaxy up there, and specialists on the island will teach your kids to star spot.
