Location
About the surrounding area of Villa HellinaNestled in the heart of the Aegean Sea, Paros is a captivating island that perfectly balances traditional Greek charm with modern luxury. Renowned for its stunning beaches, picturesque villages, and rich history, Paros has become a sought-after destination for travellers seeking both relaxation and adventure. Its whitewashed architecture, winding cobblestone streets, and vibrant bougainvillaea provide a quintessentially Cycladic backdrop, offering visitors an authentic taste of Greece.
Paros is celebrated for its beautiful beaches, each with its own unique appeal. Golden Beach, known for its crystal-clear waters and soft sands, is a haven for sunbathers and water sports enthusiasts, particularly windsurfers drawn by its breezy conditions. For those looking for a quieter experience, Kolymbithres Beach, with its striking granite formations and calm bays, provides a serene escape. The island's coastline is dotted with charming fishing villages, such as Naoussa, where visitors can dine on fresh seafood while overlooking the sparkling harbour.
The island also boasts a rich history that dates back to antiquity. Its famed Parian marble, once used in classical sculptures like the Venus de Milo, highlights its significant cultural contribution. Visitors can explore the Panagia Ekatontapiliani, a Byzantine-era church complex that stands as one of Greece’s oldest and most revered religious sites. Beyond its historical treasures, Paros offers an energetic nightlife scene, particularly in Parikia and Naoussa, where bars and tavernas come alive under the starry sky.
For nature lovers and adventurers, Paros offers hiking trails through olive groves and vineyards, as well as opportunities for sailing and exploring hidden coves. Whether you're wandering through the charming streets of Lefkes village, indulging in local delicacies like fresh octopus and fava, or simply watching the sunset over the Aegean, Paros promises an unforgettable Greek island experience.

Region
The third largest island in the Cyclades, Paros is rapidly becoming the ‘place to be’ for its charming villages, rich history, gorgeous beaches and incredible natural beauty.
Ferries from Athens, Santorini and Mykonos arrive into the island’s historic capital, Parikia, a vibrant town with hidden gems waiting to be discovered as you get lost within the warren of winding lanes. Soak up the authentic local ambience, dine out in fine restaurants and finish the day with a glass of island wine overlooking the Aegean as the sun sets. If flying to the island from Athens, the airport is in the south-west between Aliki and Parikia.
Heading north-east, be enchanted by Naoussa, a delightful fishing village with picture-perfect scenery across its bougainvillea-clad alleys with white-washed houses, Orthodox churches, little boutiques and taverna tables perched by the harbourside. Naoussa has also gained quite a reputation for its chic yet relaxed bar scene for those seeking a little island nightlife during their stay.
Visit some of the island’s beautiful beaches across this part of the coastline from Monastiri with its beach clubs and shallow waters to Kolymbithres and its impressive rock formations. The most adventurous will no doubt discover yet more sandy bays and hidden shores whilst watersport enthusiasts should venture to Pounda for kite-surfing (as well as ferries to Antiparos).
To experience the true character of the island, pass olive groves, citrus trees and pine forests to reach the traditional Greek village of Lefkes. There’s almost a timeless ambience across the village’s flower-filled lanes and it’s the most enchanting place to watch local life go by. Hike along the Byzantine trail for the more magnificent scenery.
Indeed, the island is a paradise for keen walkers, especially accompanied by spring’s wild flowers or autumnal colours across the hills. There is a network of around 35km of hiking trails as well as opportunities for horse-riding, cycling and other nature excursions – the Valley of the Butterflies is wonderful.
Meanwhile, an array of summer boat excursions will whisk you away for Aegean adventures, sunset cruises, fishing trips or island hopping with Antiparos, Naxos and even Mykonos all within easy reach by sea.
Kids
Best Suited For: All AgesParos is an excellent choice for a family vacation, offering a mix of activities, safe environments, and natural beauty that make it ideal for kids of all ages. Its laid-back charm, family-friendly beaches, and welcoming atmosphere ensure that parents and children alike can create lasting memories in this Cycladic gem.
One of the biggest draws for families is the abundance of safe, sandy beaches with shallow waters. Beaches like Kolymbithres and Livadia are perfect for kids to splash around and build sandcastles, while family-friendly amenities such as sunbeds, shaded areas, and nearby cafes make it convenient for parents. Golden Beach, while known for its windsurfing, also has calmer sections where children can paddle safely.
Paros also offers plenty of fun activities to keep kids entertained. Families can take a boat tour to explore the island's coastline, discover hidden coves, and even snorkel in the crystal-clear waters. For a unique adventure, a visit to the nearby islet of Antiparos adds a sense of exploration, with its beautiful beaches and the fascinating Cave of Antiparos. On land, older kids and teens might enjoy horseback riding along scenic trails or learning to windsurf in the gentle bays.
The island's villages, such as Lefkes and Naoussa, provide a chance for children to experience traditional Greek culture in a relaxed setting. Wandering through the car-free streets, sampling local treats like loukoumades (Greek doughnuts), and participating in local festivals are all family-friendly ways to immerse in the island’s charm. With its warm hospitality, abundance of activities, and peaceful surroundings, Paros ensures a delightful getaway for families looking for both relaxation and adventure.
