Located in the secluded village of Dyo Remata in the Magnesia region of central Greece, and built within a stunning olive grove, is the stunning two-storey Villa Pliny. Accommodating 8-10 guests across 4 double bedrooms, the villa offers incredible views of the Pagasitikos Gulf and the village of Ano Gatzea, and comes complete with modern facilities and a private outdoor pool.

Villa Pliny is set across two buildings, and entering the main villa guests will be greeted by a stylish modern entrance hall boasting stunning patterned tile flooring in shades of black, white and mocha. Walking through into the hallway which is decorated in white with rich wooden floors, guests will find the first of three double bedrooms and a private shower room. The room is elegantly decorated in calming neutral shades, giving a luxurious and contemporary feel, and also features a two-seater sofa which converts into a double bed to accommodate two more guests. The staircase in the entrance hall leads up to the first floor and into the centre of the living room, essentially separating the living and dining/kitchen areas. Directly opposite are double doors leading out onto a beautiful terrace featuring stunning tiled flooring, a table and seating for two, and offers incredible views of the Aegean sea.

The first floor is incredibly spacious and flooded with light; decor is kept neutral and fresh with shades of white and cream. The natural wooden flooring gives the villa a warm and cosy feel, especially coupled with the corner wood burner and plump deep sofa, making Villa Pliny ideal for both summer and winter getaways. There is a flat-screen TV and DVD player, as well as radio-CD player and WiFi for your entertainment, and chunky wooden furniture in a modern style, along with beautiful contemporary lighting fixtures. The entire floor is open plan with the kitchen diner situated on the other side of the open staircase. The colour scheme continues in this area with neutral shades and a handsomely crafted hexagonal dining table with seating for six guests. The kitchen is well-equipped with modern amenities including electric oven and hob, a sleek black fridge-freezer, as well as Nespresso coffee maker and sandwich toaster. The kitchen units are a matte red, providing plenty of stylish storage space. This floor also houses three double bedrooms, all featuring comfortable double beds with crisp white linen, patterned cushions and modernly designed wooden furniture, fixtures and furnishings. Each room has access to en-suite bath or shower facilities, in beautifully spacious rooms featuring cream tiles and rainfall showers, or white corner baths and shiny black tiled flooring.

Villa Pliny’s second building consists of a self-contained suite featuring a double bed, private bathroom and kitchen. The open-plan ground floor layout is rustic in design with exposed beams and brickwork, and wooden floors. There is a small kitchen area consisting of the same beautiful red units as the main villa, and a shower room featuring rainfall shower as well as a detachable showerhead. Both buildings have entrances to the beautiful outside yard, where guests can enjoy bbq facilities and the private pool. There is a large dining table that seats 8, as well as parasols and sun loungers - perfect for sitting back and taking in the spectacularly breathtaking views of olive groves and the sparkling turquoise waters of the Aegean.

Villa Pliny is situated in Dyo Remata, a settlement in Pelion, in the Magnesia region of central Greece. Home to less than 50 permanent residents the town is located near the settlements of Strofilos and Malaki and overlooks the village of Ano Gatzea and the Pagasitikos Gulf. The Pelion region is a seemingly secret and forgotten corner of Greece, with a stunning stretch of coast featuring sleepy fishing villages and deserted beaches. Here visitors will enjoy perfect swimming, olive and pine-covered slopes, and picturesque pebble beaches. Due to the location a car is essential.

The peninsula bends back from the Aegean sea towards the mainland, halfway between Athens and Thessakoniki, with the port city of Volos sitting at the top of the bay with Mount Pelion towering above. As rich with myth as it is with lush forests, it was here that Jason and his Argonauts set sail in search of the golden fleece, where gods and mortals feasted together, and where Paris was asked to choose the most beautiful woman in all the world, prompting the Trojan War. Today the region is celebrated for its idyllic views and relaxed and tranquil atmosphere, offering skiing in the winter and sun and surf in the summer. There is incredible architecture to enjoy, local produce to sample, and traditional restaurants and cafes to frequent.

Kids

Best Suited For: All Ages
Ideal for Kids Ideal for Teens

Villa Pliny provides many amenities for children on request, including travel cot, high chair, and cutlery. Board games are provided, and there is a flat-screen TV with satellite channels and WiFi, all of which will keep the kids entertained while indoors. There are ground floor bedrooms with shower rooms, which might be better suited for young guests with regards to navigating stairs, including a sofa bed which sleeps two in the main bedroom suite. Parents should be aware that there is an open staircase in the living room leading down to the stone-tiled ground floor, and there is exposed brickwork in the ground floor building, which could potentially lead to bumps and scrapes. However, well-supervised little ones and slightly older children will enjoy the beautiful secluded yard with lawn and decking areas, and of course, the outdoor pool! Surrounded by gorgeous olive groves providing plenty of shade, Villa Pliny is relatively secluded, offering peace of mind for those holidaying with a young family.

The idyllic Pelion region has much to offer families looking to unwind and relax. Visiting the many traditional villages in the area is a must, as all offer stunning views and have large central squares surrounded by huge trees, offering plenty of shade in the hot summer months. Kids will be able to run around safely and explore while you have a drink or meal at one of the quaint tavernas. Pelion is famous for its hiking trails and its Pelion paths, cobblestone trails that have connected the villages for centuries; although not pushchair-friendly, older children will love exploring these ancient pathways where mythical centaurs are said to have once roamed.

For those families who like to be more active, there is mountain bike hire available in the region, as well as several horseback riding clubs offering tours along the nature paths or beaches, suitable for all ages and abilities. Sea kayaking and rafting are also popular in the region, and most of the schools in the area offer lessons and equipment hire for all age ranges. If laying back and soaking up the sun is more your thing than action and adventure, Pelion has plenty of beaches to choose from. Some of the best for families are Milopotamos, Fakistra, Papa Nero, and Agios Ioannis, as all consist of a combination of sand and pebble, and feature lifeguard stations. There are also family-friendly amenities available such as parasols and sun loungers. If you are visiting the region in the summer or autumn be sure to take your kids to one of the local dance and music festivals such as the Tsagarada Escape Festival, or the International Pelion Festival in July and August. Pelion is famous for its fruit production, and The Apple Festival held in Zagora in September, the Cherry Festival in Stagiates in July, the Pear Festival held in Milies in August and the Xourichti Chestnut Festival held in October, are celebrations you won’t want to miss if you are in the region at the time.
