Overview
Majestic mountain views await you when you vacation in Villa Kremasti, near the northwest coast of Rhodes, a Dodecanese island in the south Aegean Sea. This ultra-modern, two-storey, detached villa has five spacious bedrooms, and can comfortably accommodate up to nine guests. Villa Kremasti would be the ideal holiday home for a large family or group of friends sharing. The villa stands in its own grounds, with a tiled terrace, and a centrepiece private swimming pool, surrounded by high walls and trellis fencing for privacy.
The property is in two parts, the large main house, and a small stand-alone studio, and is built out of local light stone, and a subtle combination of terracotta, beige, and whitewashed walls. The villa comes with private parking, complimentary air conditioning and Wi-Fi throughout, as well as soundproofing. This super, stylish, property is lovely, light, and airy, with floor-to-ceiling windows, which let in lots of natural light, and cooling mountain breezes. The interiors are minimalist chic, furnished with contemporary pieces, some funky modern art, and decorated in a tranquil palette of shades of grey and beige, with flashes of soft blue and vibrant orange highlights.
Enter the villa at ground floor level, where you will be welcomed to your holiday home of bright and breezy open plan living, with sliding doors that lead directly out onto the pool terrace. The seating area has a soft beige L-shaped sofa, a wood and glass coffee table, a flat-screen television, and a bookcase full of board games and bestsellers. The adjacent white and silver slick kitchen is fully equipped with everything you will need to cater for your holiday, including a family-size fridge freezer with a water dispenser, a built-in oven and hob, and that must-have morning coffee maker. The smart eight-seater dining set is ideal for some impressive indoor entertaining. On the ground floor is a simple single bedroom with a desk. Take the staircase to the first floor, where you will find three spacious double bedrooms, two with double beds, and one with twin beds, all with built-in wardrobes. There are three modern bathrooms, all with walk-in showers, hand basins, WCs, and bidets. The studio apartment is facing the house on the opposite side of the terrace, with a small kitchenette and a table for two, two single beds, and a bathroom, and would be perfect for your teenage children to share.
The extensive tiled terrace with seasonal flower borders, is home to a step-entry swimming pool, long enough for lengths, and lovely enough for cooling afternoon dips. The pool is surrounded by white mesh sun loungers and shady parasols. You can practice playing ping pong at the outdoor table tennis table. As dusk falls dine alfresco at the outside dining sets, from dishes freshly grilled on the Weber barbeque, and the sun sets over the mountain.

Location
About the surrounding area of Villa KremastiVilla Kremasti can be found in the laid-back area of Ialyssos, near the northwest coast, on the beautiful Greek island of Rhodes. Rhodes is the jewel in the crown of the Dodecanese Islands, set in the Southern Aegean Sea, Greece. The villa is only four kilometres from Rhodes’ Diagoras International Airport, a short ten-minute journey away. Within walking distance, there are local mini markets for daily provisions, banks and ATMs for changing money, cosy cafes for morning coffee and baklava, and traditional tavernas for some authentic Greek cooking.
The nearest beach is Ialyssos, a walkable eight hundred and fifty metres from the villa, a quiet beach that slopes gently into the sea, with a few bars, sounds idyllic. The coastline is populated with some fabulous sandy beaches, offering a selection of water sports, and organised facilities, you won’t have to travel far to find your favourite. Local sights that are just a short drive from the villa include Kalithea Springs, Rhodes Waterpark, Rodini Park, Diagoras Stadium, Andreas Papandreou Park, and the Acropolis of Rhodes. The area is surrounded by trails and treks or go further afield on some guided hikes around the island to discover the breadth of the indigenous flora and fauna. Rhodes really is a walker’s island with almost fourteen thousand square kilometres to explore, through forests, up mountains, discovering ancient sites, and maybe stopping at a welcoming village taverna to sample the local wine, honey, and herbs, along the way.
The ancient town of Rhodes is a twenty-minute drive from the villa, and well worth a visit. The old town of Rhodes has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and as you wander the narrow lanes, old streets, and ancient fortifications you’ll see why. Rhodes’ history has been influenced by the Knights of St John, and Venetian and Ottoman conquests. Don’t miss a visit to the Palace of the Grand Masters, the Castle of Monolithos, the Suleyamniye Mosque, the Archaeological Museum, the Museum of Modern Greek Art, and many ornate orthodox churches, and make sure you count the eleven gates as you make your way around the old town. If you can’t pound the pavements, take a Segway tour, or stop for refreshment in a local taverna and sip ouzo, as you watch the world go by.
For the adventurous rent a quad bike, or join a jeep safari and take a tour of the island. All aboard a high-speed boat to lovely Lindos, or relax with a spot of fishing at Makarounas. If fishing isn’t your thing, you can admire a myriad of marine creatures indoors at the Aquarium of Rhodes. And for those who really want to go further afield, get island hopping, and take the Rhodes ferry to far-flung places, including crossing continents to the cosmopolitan town of Fethiye on the Turkish Turquoise coast.

The Island/Getting There
Rhodes is the largest of the Dodecanese Islands of Greece. It’s got a lot of history as it’s been invaded a lot by the Persians, Carians, Ottomans, Italians, and Germans.
Average temperatures go from 20’c in April up to 30’c in July/ August and down to 20’c in November. With an average of 85 rainy days a year they get sunshine for around 280 days.
The island is 90km long with Rhodes town at the northern tip. The airport (Rhodes International Airport "Diagoras") is also in the North (15km from Rhodes Town). Charter flights and Easyjet operate direct from the UK all season and out of season (Nov-March) you’d need to fly via Athens.
The Acropolis – The Acropolis that sits high above the town of Lindos is absolutely amazing and is a must see if you’re looking for some of the best views in all of Rhodes. One thing I should mention is that the climb up to the acropolis requires you to be somewhat active and able to climb stairs, lots of them. The trail begins through town and slowly but surely starts to get steeper as you climb the hill towards the acropolis. Once there, you’re rewarded with historical buildings dating back to 300 BC. Our Villa Corteau sit just underneath the ruins.
Rhodes has over 40 beaches, here are a few:
- Anthony Quinn’s Bay – Anthony Quinn’s bay is one of the most beautiful bays. The bay is located 17km (10 mi) south of Old Town Rhodes and offers some incredible photo opportunities to say the least.
- The beach at Anthony Quinn’s bay is one of the best beaches in Rhodes. Get there early if you want to snag a sunbed and umbrella and enjoy wading around the bright blue and green water. Amazing!
- For the best views of Anthony Quinn’s Bay from above, head on up to the windy road that leads up the hill just north of the bay and you’ll find a spot where you can sit and enjoy the virtually 180 degree views of Rhodes and its coastline.
- Tsambika Beach (or Tsampika) – Tsampika beach is located 30km (18 mi) south of Old Town Rhodes and is a great place to spend the day in the sun. Note: Beware there is a small section where nudists congregate on Tsampika beach
- Lakido Beach – Just opposite Anthony Quinn’s Bay is Lakido beach. It’s literally 3 minutes walking distance from Anthony Quinn’s bay so visiting both beaches in a day is totally doable. As a matter of fact, I would highly recommend visiting both if you get the chance
- Faliraki Beach – One of the most popular tourist spots on the island of Rhodes. It was known for 18-30’s holiday in the 90-2000’s but I don’t think there is that market so much now. It is quite commercialised now there are water sports and a few diving schools.
How to reach Rhodes island
There are two ways to reach Rhodes Island: either by flight or by ferry.
By plane: If you don’t want to lose time you can fly to Rhodes (RHO) from Athens. The flight lasts 1 hour. Many direct flights also operate from many European countries, so it will not be difficult to arrive there.
By ferry: If you choose to travel from Piraeus to Rhodes with a ferry, it will surely take you much longer but travelling with a ferry in the summer nights can be pretty enticing! The port of Rhodes is located in the southern part of the island and offers bus services to the town centre. You can easily book your ferry tickets using the link below or the booking engine.
Kids
Best Suited For: All AgesThere are lots to keep your younger ones occupied with a stay at Villa Kremasti on the historic island of Rhodes. Starting with the villa itself, the private pool has easy step entry and is perfect for a day of swim, splash, and play, and when it’s your own, there are no set hours. The grounds are secured by high fencing and there is a table tennis table for a game of ping-pong. The nearest beach is Ialyssos, eight hundred and fifty metres away with its golden sands and warm easy entry Aegean Sea water. Within a short drive from the villa are Kremasti beach, ideal for your older children who may want to learn to kitesurf, and the popular Ixia beach, further afield are Tsampika with an aquapark either end and Pefkos and Glystra, highly recommended for families.
There’s no shortage of parks in Rhodes, starting with Rodini, where you can take a walk in nature, cross water over picturesque bridges, chase butterflies, see a turtle or two, do a spot of bird watching, not to mention spy a peacock in all its glory. No trip to Rhodes is complete without a family away day at sea, all aboard a boat for a jolly on a shared or chartered yacht, discovering secret coves and beautiful bays in which to swim and snorkel. If it’s adrenalin adventures they are after, join a Rib Cruise, take to the sea on a catamaran cruise, or go underwater on a submarine.
For thrill-seekers, take your teenagers to the local parasailing, kitesurfing, jet skiing, paddle boarding, scuba diving, and sea kayaking clubs. Back to dry land and wheels, with a Trikke Tour, a historic electronic bike, that whizzes around Rhodes old town. Ride the more sedate retro e-bike photo stop tour, or maybe have some fun aboard a Segway. Join a 4 x 4 jeep safari for some family fun time, with a trip around the island, discovering the natural flora and fauna, and traditional Greek villages. A day discovering the old town of Rhodes is well worth a family visit, wandering through the stone streets, climbing the fortifications, and enjoying a traditional Greek dinner in a local taverna.
Discover the history of Rhodes in the Palace of the Grand Masters, visit Monolithos Castle, and the other many museums, including the Toy Museum. Take the hop-on hop-off bus tour to see all the ancient sites, and make sure you don’t miss the Windmills of Mandraki at the harbour. Try out the Throne of Helios for a thrilling 3D experience. Nearby is the fabulous Faliraki Water Park, with huge pools and lots of slippery slides for some family fun in the sun. If it’s a dull day take them to the Aquarium of Rhodes, and see the sea life indoors. A twenty-five minute drive will take you to the must-see Butterfly Valley, see butterflies flutter by in a six-hundred-acre nature park, and walk the trails of dense local flora and fauna.
