Overview

Pool Villa/House Modern Self-Catered Ideal for Kids Parking Space

You’ll be charmed when you vacation in the super stylish Villa Suave, set in the exclusive suburb of Koskinou, near the north coast of the Greek island of Rhodes, where the Southern Aegean meets the Mediterranean Sea. This architect-designed, two-storey, detached villa has three spacious double bedrooms, and can comfortably accommodate up to six guests, ideal for a family holiday, or a group of friends sharing. The villa is set in its own spacious grounds, surrounded by traditional stone walls, high fencing, and tall trees, which gives it a sense of security, privacy, and seclusion.

The property comes complete with all the mods and cons, including complimentary air conditioning and Wi-Fi throughout, plenty of space for secure parking, and your own private swimming pool. The exterior is constructed out of classic Mediterranean whitewashed walls and terracotta tiles, with floor-to-ceiling French doors that open onto the pool terrace and city-view balconies. The interiors are cool and contemporary, furnished with modern pieces, tiled and parquet floors, lots of natural wood, and decorated in a sophisticated colour palette of crisp clean whites, contrasting black, and shades of grey and beige.

Enter the villa and be wowed by the light and airy, open-plan living space, with two sets of double doors that open onto the pool terrace. The unique hexagonal, black and white, tiled sitting room is home to two nearly-black comfy sofas and matching armchairs, arranged around wooden coffee tables, facing a flat-screen television, and an enclosed wood-burning fire for those cooler months and cosy evenings, all housed under a sparkling chandelier. In a nook, there is a bench-style six-seater wooden table, ideal for some informal indoor dining. With a curved wall, the monochrome kitchen is fully equipped with all the latest appliances which you will need to cater for your holiday, including that must-have Nespresso coffee maker. A handy guest cloakroom completes the ground floor accommodation.

Take the stairs to the first floor where you will find three spacious double bedrooms. The all-white master bedroom has a king-size bed, an inviting chaise longue, fitted wardrobes, an ensuite bathroom with a walk-in glass-fronted shower, and a superb pool and city-view furnished balcony. There other two bedrooms have double and twin beds, access to the balcony, and share a large family size bathroom, complete with a bathtub and shower.

Venture outdoors, where there is a paved terrace, and a stunning seven-sided, step-entry swimming pool, surrounded by sun loungers. Cool off under the poolside shower. Relax in the hammock as you catch up with this year’s best seller. Meet for cocktails at sunset in the comfortable soft seating spot. Dine alfresco under the purpose-built brick pergola, as you feast on dishes freshly grilled on the barbeque, and raise a toast to the most memorable holiday.

Villa Suave can be found in the exclusive residential area of Koskinou, near the north coast of the beautiful Greek island of Rhodes. Rhodes is the jewel in the crown of the Dodecanese Islands, set where the Southern Aegean meets the Mediterranean Sea. The villa is just eleven kilometres from Rhodes’ Diagoras International Airport, a short twenty-minute journey away. In the quaint village of Koskinou, there are local mini markets for daily provisions, and cute cafes for morning coffee and evening retsina.

There are lots of famous beautiful family-friendly beaches within a five-kilometre radius, take your pick from Kalithea, Kokkina, Agia Marina, Nikolas, Tasos, and fun-filled Falariki. Many local sights are a short drive from the villa, including Kalithea Springs, Rhodes Waterpark, Rodini Park, Diagoras Stadium, Andreas Papandreou Park, and the Acropolis of Rhodes. Some of the very best sightseeing can be done for free and on two legs, with the many and varied walks in nature. The area is surrounded by trails and treks, or go further afield on some guided walks around the island, to discover the breadth of the indigenous flora and fauna. Rhodes really is a walker’s island with almost 14 000 square kilometres to explore, through forests, up mountains, discovering ancient sites, and maybe stopping at a welcoming village taverna to sample the local wine, honey, and herbs, along the way. The must-see old town of Rhodes is a seven-kilometre drive from the villa.

The ancient city of Rhodes has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and as you wander the narrow lanes, old streets, and fortifications you’ll see why. Rhodes’ history has been influenced by the Knights of St John, and Venetian and Ottoman conquests. Visit the glorious Palace of the Grand Masters, the Castle of Monolithos, the Suleyamniye Mosque, the Archaeological Museum, the Museum of Modern Greek Art, and the many ornate churches, and count the eleven gates as you make your way around the old town. If you can’t pound the pavements, take a Segway tour, and stop for refreshment in a traditional taverna as you sip ouzo as you watch the world go by.

For the adventurous rent a quad bike, or join a jeep safari and take a tour of the island, climb aboard a high-speed boat to the lovely island of Lindos, or relax with a spot of fishing at Makarounas. If fishing isn’t your thing, you can admire a myriad of marine creatures indoors at the Aquarium of Rhodes. And for those who really want to go further afield, get island hopping and take the Rhodes ferry to far-flung places, including crossing continents to the cosmopolitan town of Fethiye on the Turkish Turquoise coast.

The Island/Getting There

Rhodes is the largest of the Dodecanese Islands of Greece. It’s got a lot of history as it’s been invaded a lot by the Persians, Carians, Ottomans, Italians, and Germans.

Average temperatures go from 20’c in April up to 30’c in July/ August and down to 20’c in November. With an average of 85 rainy days a year they get sunshine for around 280 days.

The island is 90km long with Rhodes town at the northern tip. The airport (Rhodes International Airport "Diagoras") is also in the North (15km from Rhodes Town). Charter flights and Easyjet operate direct from the UK all season and out of season (Nov-March) you’d need to fly via Athens.

The Acropolis – The Acropolis that sits high above the town of Lindos is absolutely amazing and is a must see if you’re looking for some of the best views in all of Rhodes. One thing I should mention is that the climb up to the acropolis requires you to be somewhat active and able to climb stairs, lots of them. The trail begins through town and slowly but surely starts to get steeper as you climb the hill towards the acropolis. Once there, you’re rewarded with historical buildings dating back to 300 BC. Our Villa Corteau sit just underneath the ruins.

Rhodes has over 40 beaches, here are a few:

  • Anthony Quinn’s Bay – Anthony Quinn’s bay is one of the most beautiful bays. The bay is located 17km (10 mi) south of Old Town Rhodes and offers some incredible photo opportunities to say the least.
  • The beach at Anthony Quinn’s bay is one of the best beaches in Rhodes. Get there early if you want to snag a sunbed and umbrella and enjoy wading around the bright blue and green water. Amazing!
  • For the best views of Anthony Quinn’s Bay from above, head on up to the windy road that leads up the hill just north of the bay and you’ll find a spot where you can sit and enjoy the virtually 180 degree views of Rhodes and its coastline.
  • Tsambika Beach (or Tsampika) –  Tsampika beach is located 30km (18 mi) south of Old Town Rhodes and is a great place to spend the day in the sun.  Note: Beware there is a small section where nudists congregate on Tsampika beach
  • Lakido Beach – Just opposite Anthony Quinn’s Bay is Lakido beach. It’s literally 3 minutes walking distance from Anthony Quinn’s bay so visiting both beaches in a day is totally doable. As a matter of fact, I would highly recommend visiting both if you get the chance
  • Faliraki Beach – One of the most popular tourist spots on the island of Rhodes. It was known for 18-30’s holiday in the 90-2000’s but I don’t think there is that market so much now. It is quite commercialised now there are water sports and a few diving schools.

How to reach Rhodes island

There are two ways to reach Rhodes Island: either by flight or by ferry.

By plane: If you don’t want to lose time you can fly to Rhodes (RHO) from Athens. The flight lasts 1 hour. Many direct flights also operate from many European countries, so it will not be difficult to arrive there.

By ferry: If you choose to travel from Piraeus to Rhodes with a ferry, it will surely take you much longer but travelling with a ferry in the summer nights can be pretty enticing! The port of Rhodes is located in the southern part of the island and offers bus services to the town centre. You can easily book your ferry tickets using the link below or the booking engine.

Kids

Best Suited For: All Ages
Ideal for Kids Ideal for Teens

There’s a lot to keep your younger ones occupied when you stay at Villa Suave on the historic island of Rhodes. The villa has its own private pool, perfect for a day of swimming, splashing, and playing, and when it’s your own there are no set hours. The coastline is peppered with child-friendly beaches, most offering sun loungers and parasols, local cafes and tavernas, and some with water sports for your older and more adventurous kids. The nearby beaches of Reni Koskinou, Kallithea, Tasos, and Nikolas are just a four-kilometre drive away, whilst fun in the sun Falariki, a little longer down the coast, with its golden sands and warm easy entry Aegean Sea water.

There’s no shortage of parks in Rhodes, the nearest is Rodini, which is five kilometres from the villa, where you can take a walk in nature, cross water over picturesque bridges, chase butterflies, see a turtle or two, do a spot of bird watching, not to mention spying a peacock in all its glory. No trip to Rhodes is complete without a family away day at sea, all aboard a boat for a jolly on a shared or chartered yacht, discovering secret coves and beautiful bays in which to swim and snorkel. Island hop to lovely local Lindos, or spend the day on Symi with its neoclassical architecture.

If it’s adrenalin adventures they are after, join a Rib Cruise, take to the sea on a catamaran cruise, or go underwater on a submarine. For the thrill seekers take your teenagers to the local parasailing, kitesurfing, jet ski, paddle boarding, scuba diving, and sea kayaking clubs. Back to dry land and wheels with a Trikke Tour, a historic electronic bike whizz around Rhodes old town, ride the more sedate retro e-bike photo stop tour, or have some fun aboard a Segway. Join a 4x4 jeep safari for some family fun time, with a trip around the island, discovering the natural flora and fauna, and traditional Greek villages.

A day discovering the old town of Rhodes is well worth a visit, wander through the stone streets, climb the fortifications, and enjoy a traditional Greek dinner in a local taverna. Discover the history of Rhodes in the Palace of the Grand Masters, visit Monolithos Castle, and the other many museums, including the Toy Museum, or take the hop-on hop-off bus tour to see all the ancient sites, and don’t miss the Windmills of Mandraki at the harbour. Try out the Throne of Helios for a thrilling 3D experience. Nearby there are three water parks, the fabulous Faliraki Water Park, Vatten Water Park, and the Sea Park of Falariki, all with super slippery slides and huge pools. If it’s a dull day take them to the Aquarium of Rhodes, and see the sea life indoors. Out of town, there’s the must-see Butterfly Valley, see butterflies flutter by in a six-hundred-acre nature park and walking trails of dense local flora and fauna.
