Set in the countryside with stunning sea views, enjoy the best of both worlds, when you vacation in Villa Honey, on the south coast of the Greek island of Zakynthos, in the azure waters of the Ionian Sea. This two-storey, detached villa has three spacious double bedrooms, and can comfortably accommodate up to seven guests, ideal for a family holiday, or a friends’ get-together. Villa Honey is constructed out of traditional Zakynthian local stone, with wrought iron, sea-view balconies, shuttered windows, and double doors that open to let in lots of natural light, and cooling sea breezes.

This charming property comes complete with private parking, air conditioning and Wi-Fi throughout. The villa is set in its own verdant grounds and gardens, with a centrepiece swimming pool, and lush green lawns. The interiors have a real holiday home-from-home vibe, furnished in a classic cottage style, using lots of natural wood, and a warm colour palette of browns and beiges, contrasted with soft peach and pinks.

Access the property via a country lane, and enter Villa Honey to find a light and airy, high vaulted, wood ceiling, open plan living space, with double doors that give access onto the pool terrace. The seating area has two comfy pink sofas, one of which can be made into a sofa bed for one guest, there are coffee and side tables, a flat-screen satellite television, and an open fireplace for those cooler months and evenings. The adjacent teak wood kitchen is fully equipped with all the appliances and gadgets you will need to cater for your holiday, including that must-have morning coffee maker. A six-seater dining set is ideal for some informal indoor dining. On the ground floor, there is the first of the three bedrooms, furnished with a wrought iron double bed, bedside tables, fitted wardrobes, and a garden-view balcony. A bathroom with a bathtub and overhead shower, a hand basin, WC, and washing machine, completes this floor’s accommodation. Take the stairs to the first floor, where there are two bedrooms, one with a double bed, one with twin beds, and both with sea view balconies, and a shared family bathroom, with a bathtub and overhead shower.

Villa Honey is set in the loveliest sea-view grounds and gardens, which can be accessed from the living space. A ladder entry and private swimming pool take centre stage, surrounded by strategically positioned white sun loungers, and shady parasols, perfect for relaxing under the Grecian sun. A rattan soft seating spot is ideal for meeting for a morning coffee or sundowner cocktails. As dusk falls, feast alfresco at the outside dining set, with local delicacies freshly grilled on the barbeque, and raise a glass of retsina to the most memorable holiday.

Villa Honey is set in the heart of the countryside, near the village of Argassi, on the south coast of the Greek island of Zakynthos, in the Ionian Sea. The villa is seven kilometres from Zakynthos International Airport, or island hop and arrives by ferry at the port of Agios Nikolaos. Local cafes and bars are within walking distance, and minimarts with provisions for your holiday, are a short drive away. For an evening out, Xirocastelo and Argassi are noted for their fine dining experiences.

The villa is on the Vasilikos peninsula, populated with organised sandy beaches, and the crystal clear waters of the Ionian Sea, perfect for sunbathing, swimming, and snorkelling. Highly recommended beaches are, nearby Argassi, and Tsilivi to the north, and Gerakas and Kalamaki to the south. A fifteen-minute drive will take you to the holiday resort of Tsilivi, with banks and supermarkets, cafes, bars, and restaurants, and a beautiful sandy beach. Have fun on the pedaloes, take to the water on jet skis, and the air with a spot of parasailing. Laganas is famous for its seafront shops, bars and restaurants, bike and boat hire, sandy shores and water sports, thermal springs and nesting turtles, and lively nightlife. Feel the beat at Zante’s famous ‘Pure Beach Club’, party all day to the vibes from their state-of-the-art sound system, and discover the delights of a Champagne Spray. Go north to the unique Shipwreck beach, accessible only by sea.

The island is renowned for its excellent hiking, trek the local countryside to discover nature’s flora and fauna. The main town of Zante is only five kilometres away, visit the Byzantine Museum, the church of Agios Markos with its imposing belfry, and the impressive church of St Dionysus, the patron saint of the island. Go on a guided walking tour from Solomos Square, and be impressed by the historic Venetian architecture. Shop in the souvenir stores, and sip an ouzo in a Greek music bouzouki bar, as you watch the world go by. Take to the water with a catamaran tour around the coastline, join a day trip from Zante harbour, or hire your own private yacht complete with the captain. Southwest of the island is Keri Lake, a village that combines the sea, forests, valleys, and streams, and is abundantly rich in agriculture. Walk through the scented pine forests, pick grapes and olives in season, be amazed at the bouquet of natural wildflowers, take a boat trip to the Keri Caves, and then dine by the waterside.

The picture-perfect village of Bochali has an ancient Venetian castle with stunning sea, coast, and town views, and a tiny church, charmingly named Zoodos Pigi with beautiful Byzantine icons. Make sure you take a tour of one of the many vineyards across the island, sample the wine, and take a bottle or two home with you. You may be there for the Zante Carnival, inspired by the island’s Venetian heritage, the festival starts with drinking and dancing, and ends with eating cheese – need we say more!
