Overview
Villa Volimes is situated in a lovely hillside position at Volimes, close to Agios Nikolaos in the north of Zakynthos. This charming villa boasts amazing views of the endless horizon of the deep blue Ionian Sea. It is very easy to relax in this tranquil location. The area is known for its local handcrafts, oils, honey, tablecloths, centrepieces and carpets which are handmade during the winter months. There are a number of lovely gift shops. With scenic drives and dramatic cliffs, you will come across small traditional villages and some of the best-preserved buildings on Zakynthos. It is 30km from the lively Zante Town.
Villa Volimes has been built in a traditional way with modern touches. Mostly in stone, it has a warm ambience and with two bedrooms it is ideal for a small family or two couples. The open-plan living, dining and kitchen area is spacious and has a large open fireplace as a focal point. It also has direct access to the lovely terrace. A large sofa opens as a sofabed should you need another bed. The kitchen is modern and well equipped.
The master bedroom has a double bed and an ensuite bathroom. The second bedroom has twin beds. Both bedrooms have direct access to a terrace and are light and airy. There is an additional shower room. Again, the warm, honey coloured stone walls create a warm ambience in the rooms.
The outside space of Villa Volimes is lovely. The corner position of the pool is perfect for a dip and to admire those spectacular, uninterupted views out to sea. Sun loungers surround the pool plus there is a covered dining area. There is an additional dining area next to the brick-built barbecue which is fantastic for alfresco dining. This is a delightful villa to relax and explore the lovely island of Zakynthos.

Location
About the surrounding area of Villa VolimesThe northern part of Zakynthos is far removed from the buzzy southern towns of Laganas, Kalamaki and Zante Town. You will feel like you have stepped back in the past. The rugged countryside is beautiful and charming. The locals are very friendly.
Within a short drive from the villa, you will find the pebbly Makris Gialos Beach as well as Xygia Beach. Both are unspoilt with crystal clear emerald water. Xigia Beach is known for its therapeutic sulphur springs rich in collagen that flow up from the sea bed. Agios Nikolaos houses an important harbour with ferry boats going to Kefalonia. Small boats take tourists to nearby Cape Skinari, the northernmost point of the island and the Blue Caves on the coast in between.
The Blue Caves are famous for the reflection and diffusion of sunlight within the caves, turning the water into an impressive azure translucent blue. The caves are very close to the villa. You can also get a boat from Makris Galios.
Also close to the villa is the famous Shipwreck Beach. The real name is Navagio Beach. It is absolutely stunning and is reached by boat. You can park at the top of the cliffs though and walk to get some amazing photographs. The boat trip is amazing, with the 256 feet sheer limestone cliffs in the background, the hues of azure blue water and the silvery sand. You will need to take snacks and water with you and probably jump in the water to get to the beach. It’s a great photo opportunity to capture the wrecked ship imbedded in the sand.
Alykes is 12km away and is a nice day out in combination with its neighbour Alykanas. You can take a horse and carriage ride between the two. It is also possible to rent jeeps, motorbikes or cycles here to explore the island. Alykes has a lovely beach, many churches and a Byzantine art museum as well as intriguing salt flats. Alykanas is a small beach resort where the pace of life is easy going. The new part of the town is right by the lovely golden sandy beach with views over to Kefalonia in the distance. The old part has a church and quaint main square.
A trip to Zakynthos would not be the same without some time in the busy resorts of Lagunas and Zante Town. You will find many bars, restaurants and nightclubs. There is entertainment for the whole family.

Region
An Ionian island of contrasts, Zakynthos (Zante) offers wild landscapes of olive groves and sleepy villages, iconic beaches and idyllic coves alongside bustling tourist hot-spots and long stretches of coastline with sun beds and watersports. Whether you are seeking Greek authenticity or the ease of family-friendly resorts, Zakynthos has so much to appeal to every visitor on the island.
Starting off in the capital, Zakynthos Town, enjoy a morning coffee on the vast Solomos Square overlooking Agios Nikolaos Church by the sea, then get lost in the warren of flower-filled lanes in the old quarter before shopping and dining by the waterfront. As evening nears, the town is a mecca for locals and visitors alike looking for vibrant bars and nightlife.
Head to the rugged north of Zakynthos for a wealth of hidden pebbled coves, picture-perfect swimming spots, the incredible Blue Caves and popular Navagio Beach (also known as Shipwreck Beach). Tour the natural beauty of Cape Skinari, drive to the traditional village of Volimes, bathe in the healing sulphur waters of Xigia Beach, then dine by the harbourfront in Agios Nikolaos.
A little further down the eastern side of the island, be enchanted by the traditional seaside village of Alykansas with its olive groves, vineyards and family-friendly ambience, then hop on a horse-drawn carriage to Alykes across the other side of the vast sandy bay.
Venture inland to experience the island’s wild landscapes of olive groves, cypress and pine forests, mountain slopes and the lovely scent of wild thyme. Zakynthos is wonderful for nature explorers as well as keen hikers with trails criss-crossing through the valleys.
The south of Zakynthos also awaits, so loved for its beautiful beaches and the incredible Marine Park, a protected area including Gerakas Beach, Marathonisi Island and the famous loggerhead turtles.
Bustling Laganas Beach will appeal to tourists wanting to stay near restaurants, bars and a beach with summer watersports. Meanwhile, Kalamaki is located between Laganas and Zakynthos Town, ideal for couples and families searching for a long and sandy beach, inviting places to eat and a range of child-friendly activities. For a truly memorable outing, join a sea-kayaking tour of this part of the coastline in search of the island’s beloved turtles.
Kids
Best Suited For: All AgesThere is a lot to entertain children on Zakynthos. Of course, you are likely to spend many days on the glorious beaches. The closest beach to the villa is Makris Gialos Beach which is beautiful and pebbly. It will not take you long to drive to the fine sandy beaches on the island. A firm favourite for children will be taking a boat trip to the Shipwreck Beach but others that are amazing for families are Alykes Beach, Kalamaki Beach, the Banana Beach at Vasilikos, Alykanas Beach, Tsilivi Beach and Laganas Beach. Older children will love some of the rocky beaches such as Porto Zoro. They will enjoy clambering over the rocks.
On the south side of the island, children will love a glass bottom boat trip to spot Caretta turtles swimming around Marathonisi Island, otherwise known as ‘Turtle Island’. The turtles nest on one of the beaches as well as some of the beaches around Kalamaki and Lagunas. You are given the opportunity to swim in the lovely warm water and snorkel, discovering the underwater world. You can also visit the spectacular Keri Caves and the secret beach on the rocky side of Turtle Island. Small boats can go inside the caves and though the arch next to the caves. Some guests hire private boats to discover all of this themselves, rather than on an organised trip.
Zante Town has a lot to keep children occupied. It is very easy to eat on the island as a family plus there is some great entertainment. The town’s tourist train is a great way of getting about. You can also hire bikes, toy jeeps and motorcycles for children at the busy Solomos Square. Just outside Zante Town you will find the Water Village at Sarakinado. Adventurous children will love the thrilling slides and tubes. There is also a lazy river, jacuzzi and various pools. The karting track next to the Water Village is also fun. There is a further water park at Tsilivi

The Villa definitely has the wow factor. It is comfortable and luxurious.
The Villa has an incredible view and patio area. The facilities and equipment are very good quality. Tanya, our host, was very friendly and made us a fantastic breakfast one morning which was very thoughtful.
Air conditioning was only in the lounge and the hall. The bedrooms would benefit from their own air conditioning The parking arrangement was a bit tricky as it was difficult to turn around. The kitchen appliances were great but the utensils, pans, knives etc could do with a bit more thought. Wi-fi was slow

Perfect
Perfectly equipped, great large terrace overlooking the sea. Owner Tania is extremely nice and welcoming. We'd recommend hairing a car as the villa is 15 min walk from town
