A gem of a villa awaits you on the island of Ischia, heralded as the most beautiful island in the Bay of Naples. With its swimming pool surrounded by rock formations and overlooking the sea, Villa Ciano provides a haven in the heart of the Mediterranean. A rustic stone exterior set in a lovely private garden is your first impression of the villa, set amongst similar properties in a verdant, plant-filled landscape. Inside, the décor is fresh, light and inviting in tones of blue, white and neutrals.
With two gorgeous bedrooms and two bathrooms, Villa Ciano can comfortably accommodate four guests. Also boasting a spacious living and dining area connected to a well-equipped kitchen, this villa is the perfect venue for an intimate family meal, enjoying cooking and eating the delicious food this region offers!
Although you’d be forgiven for wanting to relax at the villa all day, within a 15-minute walk along the side of the road, you have easy access to the local beach and several bars and restaurants. Alternatively, why not jump in the car and take a quick 10-minute drive to the town of Forio for supermarkets, shopping and a little historical sightseeing.
Le Fumarole di Maronti Beach is a unique experience and just 30 minutes drive away. Dig a hole in the sand at this beach that sits on a volcanic basin, let it fill with water and climb in! The heat of the sand and water are said to ease your muscles and treat many ailments. Ischia locals love a ‘fumarole’ treatment, but if you’d rather sunbathe, it is also the ideal spot, being a beautiful beach as well as a do-it-yourself spa.
Rent a boat from Ischia Ponte, a half-hour drive away and discover the island’s exquisite grottos along the south-eastern coast, including the enchanting Grotto del Maggo, or Magician’s Grotto. Don’t worry if you don’t fancy yourself as a sailor, as you can get a captain with the boat hire to be your trusty navigator and guide.
If you’re in the mood for some island hopping, take the hydrofoil to Capri, Ischia’s famous sister island. There is plenty of opportunity for luxury shopping here (don’t be surprised if you find yourself rubbing shoulders with the odd celebrity!), or for a more low-key option, head to the island of Procida, a popular film location owing to its traditional charm and only 20 minutes away by boat.
** Please note the property is actually located on the island of Ischia. Regular ferries depart from Porto d'Ischia and Porto di Casamicciola to Naples**

Location
About the surrounding area of Villa CianoVilla Ciano is reached via a delightfully subtropical road lined with greenery and rustic stone walls. Enter the villa’s adorable garden from the private parking, and you will be rewarded with spectacular sea views. Whilst the fabulous San Francesco Beach and its bars are a convenient 15-minute walk away (via a road), you need only drive around 10 minutes to reach Forio, a town bustling with shops, restaurants and a choice of beaches. Be sure to visit La Mortella Gardens whilst you’re there; once owned by a famous composer and boasts an open-air theatre on the grounds. Forio is also home to Chiesa del Soccorso, a snowy white church overlooking the sea. Named, naturally enough, for a saint of the snow, the church is wonderful at sunset, and its wooden cross is cherished as a symbol of protection by local sailors.
Also within easy reach is Sant’Angelo, a charming fishing village around a 20-minute drive from the villa. Owing to its narrow roads, the village is almost entirely pedestrianised, so you can happily stroll the streets at your own relaxed pace after parking the car! It’s the perfect starting point for hiking in the surrounding hills or simply enjoying the cafés, craft shops and boutiques scattered throughout the village.
Nature lovers can take the trail to Mount Epomeo, Ischia’s highest mountain. The village of Fontana, 30 minutes away by car, is a popular starting point for the trail, and you will find several hiking routes to the summit. Make the most of Fontana’s bars and restaurants, or visit its two striking churches, Chiesa Santa Maria Delle Mercedes and Chiesa di Sant’Antonio da Padova.
Ischia is excellent for snorkelling, and a great spot is around the Sant’Anna Rocks in Ischia Ponte, a 20-minute drive from the villa. These small islets are especially picturesque given their proximity to the dramatic Aragonese Castle, sitting just off the coast on its very own giant rock.
Of course, no trip to Ischia would be complete without visiting one of its famous thermal baths! These are just about everywhere on the island – try Sorgeto Springs, around a 20-minute drive away, where you can experience sitting in hot spring pools right on the beach, or the Tropical Thermal Park in Sant’Angelo, to pamper yourself with their signature thermal mud treatment.

Best Suited For: All AgesAtmospheric and steeped in history, Aragonese Castle lies around a half-hour away by car from the villa and is an ideal landmark for the whole family to visit. With its earliest parts dating back to the 14th century, walk across the bridge and step inside the grounds - you’ll discover a surprising labyrinth of walled gardens and catacombs, all waiting to be explored.
A visit to the beach is on everyone’s list for those with children – check out the fabulous San Montano Beach in Lacco Ameno, found in its own sheltered bay next to Negombo Thermal Park. Or, if you want to try your hand at a game of beach volleyball with the kids, head to San Pietro Beach, an easy walk from Ischia Porto.
